Yesterday I modified it, now I like it more. Maybe I'll clean up this and add the rest.

Also because, OMG THEY ANNOUNCED 2 NEW GAMES OF CUPHEAD!!!

Okay, SO. There are a couple major of differences seen in this design of Cuphead that I thought were interesting! The first one that I noticed was his head shape which is less like that of a tea cup and more like that of a coffee mug. It actually reminded me of how some people draw Mugman which i thought was neat. I personally think it also makes him look older and was likely easier to make than a puppet head that was more accurate to his game or show appearances.

Buuuut if I had to guess id say the main reason (or at least a driving factor) as to why his head is shaped like that is for a funny gag at the end of the news segment where Cuphead tucks his head into his suit like Beaker from The Muppets

Other things I noticed were his smaller eyes (again, somewhat resembling Mugman's oddly enough) and the presence of eyebrows. Though I would again chalk this up to him being a puppet. I imagine that larger more accurate eyes and no eyebrows wouldnt do anything but highlight the fact that a puppet cant really expresses that much emotion with its face unlike a cartoon character. When it comes to things like emotion that really make a puppet come to life in a sense the puppeteer's performance is EVERYTHING.

And finally, something i only noticed after seeing fanart of news anchor Cuphead alongside the new Mighty Cuphead Adventure Cuphead (which inspired me to make this post in the first place)... this version of Cuphead has five digits. This is, say it with me everyone, because he is a puppet and the five finger hand was presumably easier to make or looked better or both. But. But... I did briefly have the HORRIFYING thought that Cuphead grew another finger on each hand as he aged into adulthood, so that was fun.

While we're on the topic of hands I wanted to share a fun fact that I didnt know how to put into the post. News anchor Cuphead is a live-hand puppet as opposed to a hand-and-rod puppet. This means his hands are basically just gloves that the performers wear and do stuff with. To use both of their hands these puppets must be operated by at least two puppeteers. You can either have one person operate the mouth and one of the hands while the second person operates the other hand, or you can have one person operate both hands while one person operates the mouth. The first option is more common, but a notable example of the second is the Swedish Chef. I didnt know this until I was typing this post, but the credits in the description of the announcement video only credit one puppeteer, Graeme Black-Robinson. Unless news anchor Cuphead was more of a costume than a traditional puppet which seems unlikely, there was presumably another puppeteer. Idk i just think thats neat to think about. And now you know something about puppets!

A technique 31 minutos would use for these guys was to have one hand of he Puppet out of view or against the body so that only one puppeteer could do the character, although there also many times they did the two puppeteers thing. I think Studio MDHR did this too.

See the difference between the Puppet of the side camera, which uses both hands, lowered eyebrows and has lidded eyes...

Compare it with the front view Puppet (yes, I suspect they used two of them) which has fully open eyes and, most importantly here, a fake, rigid, right hand.
