the conversation scene in Batman: Bloom (amnesiac b and j/scene at the bench) is a similar situation as the conversation from the Killing Joke. In both one is trying to convince the other to change their fate. In Bloom, Joker goes up to Bruce to ask him to not go back to being Batman. In TKJ, bruce goes up to joker to ask him to not continue being Joker.

Bruce in Bloom says “No. but if it goes back, what was the damn point? If it doesn’t last, if it all just falls apart in the end and if it’s not more than just… just now, why does it matter? Maybe it’s all some big…” [joke]. This is Joker philosophy (bruce is literally about to say it’s all a big joke), and similar to Joker’s argument against Bruce in TKJ: that none of it matters. Bruce strangely slips into Joker philosophy when amnesiac Joker asks him to try helping Gotham through being that healed version of himself; that becoming Batman again will just lead back to [the metaphor] the parasites that don’t allow them room to enjoy the simple things in life(through biting the fishes tongues off—can’t eat simple bread), don’t allow them to be happy.

In TKJ, Batman offers them to work together. In Bloom, Joker offers the possibility that their paths can stay separate.

In TKJ before the conversation Joker attempts to shoot Batman, trying to fulfill their terrible fate. In Bloom, Joker turns the gun on himself, as the only to escape their fate

Joker in Bloom seems to know that he won’t succeed in getting Bruce keep his life without Batman; i mean he definitely seems to remember their story and their destiny in some way, and yet it’s like he “wanted to know that [he’d] make a genuine attempt to talk things over and avert [their] outcome”

You could even say that “it all hinges on tonight. Maybe this is our last chance to sort this bloody mess out.”

Bruce moving towards their old ways but Joker instead of fighting back like in TKJ, he deescalates the situation through his words just like Bruce in TKJ did.

Joker(TKJ): “No. […] This situation. It reminds me of a joke.”

Bruce(Bloom): “No. […] Maybe it’s all some big…” [joke]
