Mm. Yes, that sounds far better. While what we are finding the truth of is different, it is essentially the same. To find the truth is important, and that is my goal as an inquisitor.
I would⊠certainly hope that I do not accidentally slash something. However, as someone that is very well versed in sword fighting, I doubt that something like that could occur as long as I stay careful. I am a high ranking knight, after all.
Yes, exactly. Because of the similarity, we can also compare what happened previously to the current case. Itâs rather helpful to go over previous case files. It is also what I look for as a prosecutor.
Hm... Right, a âknightâ. Still, perhaps you could settle for something not so dangerous to point around. A toy sword or maybe a wooden pole. I honestly doubt real swords are even allowed in a court of law.Â

*phoenix voice* meh, who cares?
Oh Boy. so um. im gonna try expressing my feelings here a lil. (actually this became a lot sorry) if this is something that someone doesnt want me talking about this please say. ill edit / delete what needs to be done
first things first. i wanted to say just how much it means to me that bobby rebuilt the group. when i first saw that he was thinking of restarting it i was. really happy. the thought of being back in and not losing the chance to talk to everyone again was.. super great. i enjoy all of your company and seeing everyone happy and healthy makes me happy too. bobby did so much from rebuilding the group from scratch and making sure all joinees were Okay. when i first read the new rules page i was glad for some of the things added there (since a few things kinda bothered me about the ones before. i dont really remember what it was since i dont remember the old rules)
bobbys done so much and while im. incredibly terrible at showing my appreciation, i want him to know that he and what heâs done means a lot to me. so um. thank you bobby
uh. secondly i want to say that manfred is also someone i look forward to seeing. im not sure. if thats obvious. since im really bad at. a lot of stuff. (im sorry about that..) but uh. ens actually the entire reason i love manfred von karma so much. and seeing en online and doing stuff brings a smile to my face. and ens shown me a lot of stuff and ens pretty cool and im glad to know en. i think en was the one who had exposed me to aanerds..? so there that too.. so um thank you manfred.
i suppose thirdly and maybe lastly, ill direct attention to the entirety of aanerds and its community that surrounds it. (thisll be splt into smaller segments)
the community;
im really glad for all the people here and what they do. like normally im not all that keen on doing stuff so when i disappear no ones mad at me or. no ones complaining about my activity since i dont update my other accounts too well. they dont really make me feel bad for how fickle my muses are and how much i change things. and when i interact with them i dont feel like im annoying them or that im crossing any lines. and ive learned. so, so much from this community. im superbly thankful. if it wasnt for aanerds i probably wouldnt still be in the aa community as a whole its always fun to be here (in my opinion) and all the memes here make me happy.. (special shout out to âim snekkyâ which always brings a smile to my face)
the mods;
the mods are. really great. friendly and talkative and always ready to Get Stuff Done. and whenever people send memes to the masterlist, none seem too upset over it. like sometimes i send âcan i reserve x memesâ because those are neat, and the mods respond. they work so hard and get through so much and theyre technically the ones that have gotten us all together. and like. bobby was the start of our comeback so like. thanks to him again..
oh boy.. uh. i wrote a lot. so ill end it here. if. anyone wants me to say or talk about anything else.. one can ask.. and ill try. same goes for what shouldnt be said and so on..Â

Yes, that is very true. That must be what weâre here for.
It isnât good to damage things willy-nilly, though. Others may be blamed for such things, and depending on the object, it could be dangerous for myself and those around. Itâs good to be careful about such things, so I shall do so. I should only harm things if necessary.
Mm... Not quite. Revealing an error may be an important part, but I believe truth is truly what we are after. One may be able to say that they had committed the crime, but for what purpose? Punishments can change depending on reasons.Â
It surely isn't. And that is good to hear. Iâd rather not have you in court for everything you damage in that suit of armor or with that sword.Â
I can understand why that is such. Most today seem to find the need to lie out of their errors rather than embrace them as what they are. As for the âhandling the desks with care,â I shall gladly promise that. I, with utmost certainty, can say that I shanât damage another table such as this.
You make a good point. But I suppose if all embraced their errors, we would be out of the job.Â
... âSuch as thisâ. I suppose as long as it isnât courtroom property or my own, then you may damage what you wish. Although I will not allow any blame of your foolishness to be placed upon me.Â
i have resolved to to this without any outside assistance. if i am not capable of regaining my position on my own, then i am not worthy of the title any longer.
i prefer to completely immerse myself in the task. it is comforting to lose oneself in work.
Hm. Yes, I suppose I can see the reasons as to why. Of course, any attorney worth their salt knows that any resources available can be used. It would not make you any less to make use of my help.
Plus the decision on whether or not you should be allowed in would happen to fall on my shoulders. And if not that, your evaluations surely will.Â
Yes, I agree. Although most of the time I lose myself happens to be when Iâm writing reports.Â
Yes, I bent the desk. I will not make an excuse as to what occurred or why it occurred, for it is purely my fault. However, we must be relieved that âtwas not the absolute worst case scenario. This does not mean I wonât have it fixed, so I will be sure to have someone repair it through my own pocket. Do you have any issues with this?
Iâm glad to see someone actually wants to own up to their mistakes. I do not have qualms to this, and it most likely prove to be the best solution to the incident. I just implore you to handle the desks with care. Unless you want to run out of funds with your careless actions.
âŠâtwas not as though I destroyed it. I am certain that repairs are possible.
Whether or not itâs repairable is not the problem here. The fact remains is that you bent the desk.Â

â v⊠vingt quatre ans ? zu⊠tiens !   vous etes un ande plus que moi !   i knew you were older, but such a   close distance in our ages⊠i had   not known it was even possible !   hnn⊠tu es estrangeâŠÂ â
âPeople are born rather frequently this day and age. Itâs not that hard to believe. Aussi Ă©trange que je sois, celui qui est Ă©trange pour moi, ce est vous.â
â Lang Zi says, â You can never truly hate the work you stand by more than you can appreciate its worth - your abhorrence for crime is always bolstered by your own passion to resolve it. â â
Difficult to decipher in-full until a bit of dictionary cross-referencing (zeâd fallen farther back in written English studies than zeâd realized), the last quote to have ever been salvaged of zyr ancestorâs philosophic work at last showed itself to Shi-Long on the final page of a well-received gift. It lay staring back at zem, propped up on one leg crossed over the other, with only trailing, blurring lights of the city outside the dim taxi window showing any effort to move with time.
Until every word had finally meshed together as one meaning did a slight laugh escape zyr throat.
â Thatâs close for a translation⊠a shame it left out what mattered most. â
Not that that had made it any less significant. Ze couldnât deny that for all the shit zyr profession could put zem in, there was no other life to live. Glamorous it sure wasnât, but righteous assuredly. Hunting down the biggest of all game, those so obviously in plain sight reeking of blood and hatred but with claws sharpened to deadly points⊠taking down the mighty like that could be all ze ever had to live for.
But there were a dozen other of the theoristâs quotes that parroted that thrill in words already. This one was⊠a little more unique in its original formâŠ
Kh, well, that was to be expected for skipping straight to the end of the book - a little chastising from the Powers That Be. So be it. The rest of the reading would be more useful on the plane ride home, should a certain âfoppishâ travel buddy find the flight more exhausting than originally assumed. Ze made to return both the dictionary and von Karmaâs gift into the carry-on resting by the boot still residing on the vehicleâs floor, until an unfamiliar sight reached back to zem even in that darkness.
Something white⊠and beside it⊠a cover, bearing the phoenix of Zheng Faâs flag.
⊠these werenât zyrs.
Zyr heart lurched painfully, suddenly, dreading the thought that zeâd be hoisting off with valued possessions of a subordinate of zyrs with the airport already all too closely approaching. Both were claimed from inside the bag and clutched in the investigatorâs hands in no time, as eyes searched desperately for a familiar name on the inside cover of the book with the phoenixâ emblem -Â âA dedication page? A signature? It had to have somethiââ
⊠The sight on the front page proved zyr hunch right immediately.
â Lang Zi says, â One will never truly hate more than one loves, when love is found in all we live for. â I had found this quote to stand out most among your ancestorâs teachings. Perhaps I will hear your elaboration on it in the future.
Happy Birthday, Agent Lang. â Miles Edgeworthâ
⊠no dictionary was necessary, even for the more difficult phrases dancing in this script. Shi-Long would know those words etched on zyr heart in any language.
Miles quickly retreated from Langâs bag before anyone could question or see. It wouldn't do to have any more embarrassing rumours scattering about.
The party seemed to progress normally, despite a few mishaps here and there. Most of the guests were either passed out or going home. As Lang left the part, ze hadnât seemed to notice the extra items in zyr luggage. It was a little disappointing, but... at least co didn't have to wait as ze looked over the gift.Â
Co doubted that co couldâve handled the suspense of whether or not it was to the agentâs liking. Sure, Miles knew most of zyr interests concerning topics or ideas. But as for material items, it was a little trickier. Cos first idea was to give zem some sort of agenda to keep track of things for zyr subordinates. But the idea was scrapped rather quickly when co realized that ze would have no use with that memory of zyrs. How ze could remember every birthday was still rather amazing.Â
Several other ideas had been scrapped as well for various reasons, before co could settle on a book from Zheng Fa and a letter.Â
The prosecutor had diligently read over the bookâs contents to make sure everything had been in order, before co had written that saying co had heard countless times before.Â
Perhaps that alone might have been enough.Â
But still, co would write a letter. One that co had scrapped, rewritten, and given up on several times before hand.
â To Shi-Long Lang,
It has come to my attention that your birthday had come up and passed by already. I know I should have at least given the gift to you on that day, but I wasnât sure how to go about doing so. Forgive my tardiness.
Happy Birthday, first of all. Youâre older and wiser now, and I hope you use your experiences to better yourself. I know you have come far from when I first met you.
At first I may have detested you and how you treated me as well as many others. But years have gone by and I realized that most of those quirks had made you, you. Iâm still not fond of many things you do, but I want you to know that I do not hate or dislike you.
Now, I am not about to reveal some hidden admiration for you in this letter. If that ever happened to true. But I will say this, I do think of you as a friend. You have many reasons not to think of me as such, but the fact remains.
Enjoy your gift, Agent Lang.
Sincerely, Miles Edgeworth â
Whether Agent Lang would show appreciation or acknowledgement toward the gifts, would have to wait until ze returned or phoned. Miles didnât particularly mind that, co had said cos piece.
