okay so first, bc i don’t know how many people know the lore of imps

they’re basically little devils or mischievous fairies who love to play tricks on people

they’re basically giant balls of energy who can’t calm down

they long for human ocompanionship but are often pushed away once they play too many tricks on said humans

they are nuisances to literally everyone around them

they’re also one of my favorite mythical creatures

chenle is an imp,,, and he literally has no friends whatsoever

he lives away in the woods, and only comes out of hiding if he gets the urge to play a prank on someone

the town hates him for this

and imps get upset if people don’t react to their pranks

so that’s what the town does???? they just ignore him

and it makes chenle so sad :(

bc he just wants to play around and have a good time

he isn’t harming anything he’s just doing lil things

like hiding people’s keys and making them late for work

or misplacing small trinkets so people think they’re going crazy

but instead of laughing it off,,, people just get mad???

and it makes chenle upset bc he never means any harm but here they are yelling at him and scolding him for having fun :(

chenle becomes more sullen and less likely to be around humans

which is what the humans wanted but,,,, it’s still sad for chenle

luckily you come to town!!!!

you’re around chenle’s age so you have a lot of energy

and a mischievous streak of your own

the first time you meet chenle is around four days after you move in when he does something little like takes a bite of your toast when you aren’t looking

and you think it’s hilarious

you’ve heard of chenle’s antics before you and your family moved so you were anticipating his first trick

your laughter gives chenle, who is hiding behind a potted plant, some good energy

imps rely a lot on how humans react to them, and it’s been a long time since someone laughed at chenle’s tricks

and chenle is so excited he’s like i have to prank them more!!!

chenle gets all of the monster!nct house to help him he’s like come on guys there’s this human and they actually like my tricks

and yuta is in the middle of reattaching one of his fingers after an intense game of thumb wrestling w ten but he’s like “wow does chenle actually like someone??”

and chenle’s like shut up no-brain i don’t even know their name how am i supposed to like them

it’s true chenle doesn’t like you,,, but he does like that fact that you’re one of the only humans (save doyoung) who doesn’t mind his tricks

he hangs around your house a lot during the day

one time he turned all of your picture frames upside down and waited until you noticed

and when you do you speak to the empty room, since you’re sure the imp is hiding somewhere “good one! i expect more tho!”

and you’ve never seen chenle, so you have no idea what he looks like

you’re about to find out though, bc the next time he pranks you, it’s in person

and he gets jaemin to shift into a puppy, and he gets him to lead you over to some trees

that chenle is hiding behind of course

and he jumps out to scare you, and tbh you are terrified, mostly because you just didn’t expect any of this

you thought you were just helping a lost puppy find his way home :’)

BUT NOPE

it’s lil chenle w bright purple hair and a cheeky smile graced upon his features

he’s actually rlly cute lol and you’re kind of smitten for the fun loving boy,,,, demon,,,,,, fairy,,,,,, thing

ANYWAY

chenle considers you a friend, since once again you’re one of the only humans who aren’t mean to him

so right away he’s like hey wanna come see me and jaemin’s house? we live w a zombie and a ghost and a snow monster and TWO vampires and a swamp monster and TWO werewolves and a witch and —

you get the point obv

and of course you agree!!! bc you love monsters and mystery and how cool would it be to meet some monsters of your own????

so chenle and jaemin take you to the nct house

and you’re so impressed like you’re looking at all the lil trinkets they have and you’re asking a ton of questions trying to basically mythbust the entire house

and the boys love your energy they think it’s cute

and it definitely matches up w chenle’s very well

after your extended tour of the house, you join the boys for dinner

a variation of different monster dishes for different monster diets made by human!doyoung himself

which isn’t that impressive tbh

bc after making blood pudding and brain lasagna for some of the boys he throws dinosaur chicken nuggets in the microwave and passes them out to everyone

the werewolves get a few more but just bc they have canine stomachs and need the protein

anyway chenle is showing you how he steals nuggets right under the other boy’s noses and ???? he can like they genuinely don’t notice

and soon you and chenle have all the chicken nuggets on your plates while the other boys are like not again chenle!!!!!!!!

but it’s all in good fun like you can see that they genuinely aren’t mad at him

and chenle gives them back their dinner after they beg a bit

and sometime after dinner when everyone is talking and laughing, chenle slips his hand under the table and takes hold of yours

and you look at him almost wondering if it’s a trick

but chenle gives you a nervous and shy smile almost to say that it is most certainly not a trick

and you’re glad it isn’t bc you’ve come to like the little imp

and it’s pretty safe to say he likes you too

jaemin has been a metamorphagus ever since he was born

like literally as soon as his newborn eyes noticed the doctor he shapeshifted into an exact replica of the doctor

the doctors are screaming the nurses are screaming jaemin’s parents are screaming

it’s a mess

but eventually everyone comes to terms w the fact that hey, there’s a shapeshifter down the road who can literally turn into anything

but he’s also the only known shapeshifter in the world,,, so the humans don’t rlly know how to react or whether or not he could be potentially dangerous

he realizes as he gets older that he rlly can’t go anywhere or do anything without police following him

and it’s bc they know he’s a shapeshifter,,, what if he commits a crime and blames someone else by shifting into them??

so jaemin is basically suspect number one throughout the whole town

and it’s not fun at all because he’s basically been blacklisted for crimes he’s never committed

if there’s a crime that’s happened and they can’t find the perpetrator right away, jaemin is always the first suspect

he’s been in the police station for interagations more than he’d care to admit

and the overnight cell has begun to feel like a second home to him

the police suggest that he just stay away from humans,,, like forever

they basically tell him that he’s dangerous

“you can’t always control your powers,, what if you turn into a bear? or a lion?”

and jaemin tries to explain that no matter what he morphs into it’s still him and he isn’t a criminal

he isn’t

he’s just a boy who wants to go to school without the secret service tailing him

you’re jaemin’s next door neighbor

and you can see how stressed he is bc of the constant allegations and stuff

so in the middle of the night you text him like “hey climb over”

and basically when the two of you were kids, jaemin would shift into a monkey and climb the trees to get into your window

he didn’t know you had remembered that

once highschool started, the two of you sort of parted ways

not on purpose, you were still friends, just not best friends anymore

so jaemin sneaks over to your bedroom and climbs in through the window

and he morphs back into himself, into jaemin

and you smile and hug him immediately like i missed you dude

and he still smells the same,,, like peppermint and a faint hint of laundry detergent

the two of you chill on your bed and talk

in the darkness of your room, with the covers pulled up to his chin, jaemin doesn’t feel so vulnerable as he tells you all of his worries and stress

“it’s like they expect me to turn out to be this ,,, horrible person but i’m not, and i never will be”

jaemin doesn’t know how, but somehow you find his hand in the dark and squeeze it

“we know you’re good, jaemin”

“i just wish they’d let me be”

and that’s when you remember the monster house down the way

rumors say that a bunch of monsters live there as friends

you tell jaemin about it, and the thought excites him a lot

like he’s dying to meet other people who might understand what he’s going through

so the next day he talks to his parents abt it, and when they agree he meets up w vampire!donghyuck and vampire!taeil so they can see if he’s allowed in the house

and he is!!! and he’s so excited like he packs his bags right away and moves in

he becomes friends w everyone very quickly,, and they actually appreciate his abilities

but one thing he didn’t take into account was the fact that you would no longer be his neighbor

and he felt rather upset abt that some days

esp when he had a bad day in town and wanted to talk to you,,, you weren’t there

or this one time he bought a new coloring book and he ran outside w it to show it to you, only to remember that the monct house was surrounded by trees and ravines

so he settles for texting and calling you

and this works for abt a week lol

until jaemin misses you so much

he doesn’t even know why his heart is literally begging him to go see you

how is he supposed to know that he misses your presence so much bc he actually likes you??

he shapeshifts into a hawk and soars across town ,,, right into your closed window lol

and you wake up at the thud and run to your window to see an actual hawk slumped against your windowsill

so you open your window and carry the bird to your floor, not knowing that it’s jaemin

until he shifts back into his original form and holds his head “in all fairness i guess i should’ve asked you to open your window ahead of time”

you chuckle and sit down beside him like “what brings you to my abode at midnight?”

nd he looks up at you w soft eyes like “i missed you”

“o-oh,” you stutter, bc tbh you missed him a lot as well

it’s been lonely without his loud voice drifting into your room

“aren’t you gonna say you missed me too?” jaemin questions cutely, batting his eyelashes in an over exaggerated effort to make you laugh

it works bc you giggle and push him away “ofc i missed you, idiot”

jaemin smiles, and his hand reaches for yours in the dark

“i like it here, with you. i like that you don’t treat me like a ticking time bomb”

“that’s bc you aren’t,” you protest softly, squeezing his hand “you’re just jaemin, a clumsy loser who worries too much”

your playful banter makes jaemin feel a lot better, and his heart soars when you reach forward and kiss his cheek before getting up “let’s get to bed. we both have school tomorrow”

and just for fun the two of you set up sleeping bags on the floor and shuffle into them, giggling like little kids

jaemin reaches for you hand outside of the sleeping bag “goodnight, y/n.”

you grin into the darkness “goodnight jaemin”

right! so donghyuck was turned not to long ago like maybe?? one or two weeks?

he was walking home from school one night when a vampire attacked him and sucked his blood

donghyuck thought he was going to die right there but he woke up the next morning on the side of the road w fangs and extraordinarily sharp senses

and he’s freaking out like he has no idea what to tell his parents or how to tell his parents

like hey mom and dad!! i’m a vampire now!!

so he takes his precious time walking to his house, even tho his new vampire strength is begging him to pick up speed

and when he gets inside,,, his mom can see how his skin is washed out and his eyes are surrounded by subtle purple rings

her son’s eyes aren’t his anymore, they’re now amber and predatorial

donghyuck is like “mom… pls help me…”

but she doesn’t. she calls in her husband. it takes him one glance at donghyuck to decide he no longer has a son

they give him an hour to get his stuff

then donghyuck is officially a homeless vampire fledgling, who had no idea how to deal with his newfound powers

after three nights of sleeping on benches and being awoken to the sun burning his skin and forcing him to hide in the local bookstore all day,,,, he finally gets noticed by vampire!taeil,,, who asks him if he needs a place to live

and so donghyuck becomes the new resident of the nct household

he’s nervous,, but when he enters,,, no one seems fazed

in fact the entire house is pretty weird and strange,,, there are frozen animal brains in the freezer,,, and donghyuck once sat on a cushion that yelled at him and turned into a boy

but becoming a vampire isn’t easy,,,, and donghyuck is rather bitter at everything in general

he just wants to be human again

he doesn’t even like blood and when taeil makes him these wierd blood milkshakes he nearly gags at how much his body seems to crave the disgusting substance

eventually he has enough. he’s going to eat a burger if it kills him

(and it might. he doesn’t know vampire physiology)

so he picks a convient day ,,, when the house is out of blood ,,, and tells taeil that he’s heading out to get some

instead, he heads straight to the closest mcdonalds and orders a big mac and a large coke

but :( it doesn’t taste good at all :(

donghyuck didn’t even expect his body to reject human food like this,,,, maybe since he doesn’t need it anymore his body views it as waste??

he doesn’t know,,,, but it makes him even more bitter tbh

on his way back home he realizes that he was here to get blood,,, but he has no idea where taeil gets those large sacks of sheep’s blood from

so he heads to the closest shopping plaza and sees party city ,,,, he gets the idea that if taeil sees that he has blood ,,,, he probably won’t question donghyuck where he got it from ,,,, or taste test it like a weirdo

so donghyuck figures he’ll get a bag of fake blood and just trick taeil into thinking he picked up a small bag for a snack

he heads into the party store and goes immediately to the scary section,,,, there on the shelf is only one fake sack of blood ,,,, a bit lighter than the actual fluid ,,,, but it’s all they have

donghyuck reaches for it just as another hand does,,,,, a clearly human hand from the healthy-looking skin

donghyuck looks down to see you, who is lowkey super cute, trying to take his fake blood

“what do you think you’re doing?” he asks, his hand still gripping the bag

you struggle to pull the bag towards you “i’ve been looking for fake blood all day for my school play,,,, there’s no way you’re going to take it from me,,,,”

but donghyuck isn’t backing down either,,,, so the two of you play a lame game of tug of war before donghyuck has finally had enough,,, and he bares his fangs at you

you release immediately,,,,, and your eyes are wide and terrified,,, donghyuck sees something in your eyes,,,, and he realizes that he made a mistake. he shouldn’t have done that.

“i’m s—” before he can apologize, you’re out the door, rushing to your car

donghyuck feels lousy,,,,, and when he tells taeil what happened he feels even lousier,,, bc taeil tells him that vampires get a lot scarier right before they’re going to bite

“i wasn’t going to bite!” donghyuck argued

“but you bared your teeth,, what’s a human supposed to think?”

the next few days donghyuck feels horrible,,, he wants to find you again somehow and apologize,,, he wants to clear the air and make everything okay with you ,,,, he’ll even give you the bag of fake blood he bought

he has no idea how to do it,,, until one day witch!mark mentions that his school is putting on a romeo and juliet play

mark and donghyuck go to different schools,,, since mark goes to a more private school and donghyuck is in the public school of their town

didn’t you mention needing the blood for a play?

he knows his school isn’t doing a play so this must be the one,,,, this is where he can go apologize to you

he just hopes you’ll accept it

donghyuck gets there early, with his hair almost in his eyes as he walks into the school’s auditorium

“excuse me, rehearsals are still going on. you can’t be here,” someone, perhaps the drama teacher, tells donghyuck

“i’m here for my friend. she, uh, asked me to find her some fake blood. i’ve got it.”

“oh, you’re a friend of y/n! everyone’s backstage, go on ahead.”

donghyuck nods and walks backstage,,, a bit nervous bc he’s afraid of what you’ll do when you see him again,,,, he’s also afraid that you’ll look at him like you did at the store ,,,, as if he rlly was a terrifying monster

he finally spots you in jeans and a t-shirt, applying makeup onto who he assumed was the juliet of the play

“uhh… y/n?”

you turn around and jump, startled that the vampire from the shop had found you. you pull him away from curious ears. “h-hi? how did you find me?”

donghyuck shrugs, “you mentioned a play and this was the only one in town. i, uh, brought your fake blood.”

“oh. thanks.” you gingerly take it out of his hands and look at it. “you really came all this way just to give me fake blood?”

“no. i came to apologize for scaring you. i’m a recently turned vampire and i still don’t know all of my abilities yet. i don’t want you to think i was ever even thinking about hurting you,,, because i wasn’t.”

you smile brightly then, and donghyuck can feel himself calming down “i accept your apology. i shouldn’t have overreacted about the blood. technically you did see it first.”

donghyuck detects a blush on your cheeks as you continue, “maybe you’d like to stay and watch the play with me? i have an extra ticket.”

donghyuck smiles widely,, and you can see his fangs again, but they aren’t scary or ferocious or anything. they’re just cute. “i’d love to.”

so after you finish up your backstage work and all the actors are called to the stage, donghyuck and you walk towards your seats

“wait… what were you, a vampire, doing with fake blood anyway?”

“… don’t ask”

okay so obv werewolves aren’t human’s favorite monsters

there are hunters and poachers and people who just plain kill werewolves on sight

you are a circus worker

the newest circus addition is the werewolf exhibit, where a tamer brings out a werewolf pup for all the humans to gawk at

and tbh you don’t rlly like it. the thought doesn’t sit well w you,,, but you don’t know how to stop it

there’s this lil werewolf pup in a small cage in your mobile circus,, and you’re doing your nightly checks on the cages when the pup starts whimpering???

and you know your boss told you not to open the cages but you figure letting the little gray wolf walk around for a bit won’t hurt anything

so you unlock the cage

and it’s almost instant,,,, like as soon as he crawls out of the cage he transforms into a boy

like a human boy

and his gentle brown eyes are wide and he’s like “you’ve got to get me out of here”

he’s frantically looking around as if your boss is going to see him

and he’s like “at least feed me a burger or something i haven’t eaten in days”

you ??? bc your boss told you that he was keeping the werewolf fed????

the werewolf boy licks his lips and looks around “i smell pancakes and eggs”

you are highkey surprised by how good his scent must be

“well there’s a diner just down the road??”

“pls pls pls take me there. i won’t complain or anything and i won’t try to run i just need food”

and you feel so bad bc you had no idea your boss wasn’t feeding the boy/pup and you hate that you’ve gone this far without noticing

“let me get my bag to pay for your meal”

but gUESS WHAT

you decide that you don’t want to be around some toxic circus owner who mistreats monsters so you quickly pack up your entire suitcase and sneak back to where the werewolf was waiting

luckily your boss could sleep through a nuclear war so he hears nothing

when you return back to the boy he’s shivering so you give him your jacket while the two of you walk down the street towards the diner “try to get the cheapest thing on the menu,” you tell him

and he’s nodding like yeah i understand i’ll get one (1) scrambled egg pls

you realize he thought you meant it meanly, that he shouldn’t be allowed an expensive meal, so you quickly shake your head

“no! not like that just … I need to save enough money for two train tickets back home,,,,”

it takes the boy a few moments to realize that you are offering to take him away from the circus

“i-isn’t this your job? won’t we get in trouble?”

you shrug “the pay’s lousy and i don’t want to work for a man who treats people like he’s been treating you. i would’ve taken you out of i had known sooner … ”

“renjun! my name is renjun.”

he smiles down at you,, and you notice that he has a cute lil snaggle tooth and his hair looks soft nd pretty

like a field of wheat or gold or smth equally as mesmerizing

“i’m y/n.”

the two of you eat at the diner, and the waitress sneaks a few extra pieces of bacon onto his plate after seeing how starved renjun seemed

then you guys hit the late train

the two of you look like runaways, with your bag under your feet and renjun sleeping w his head rested on your shoulder. the two of you sleep the whole way home,,, and you call your parents at the station to come pick you up

and they’re like,,, glad you left the circus if the boss was an abusive douchebag,,,, but also they’re like,, you can’t just steal a werewolf and expect us to keep him,,, they get violent you know

so renjun can’t stay w you

and he’s highkey sad bc he really likes you and your scent is comforting to him

he holds your hand while the two of you walk around town,, trying to figure out what to do

when you stop in front of this large gothic house that definitely looks haunted,,, and there’s some kind of swampland right behind it??? in the suburbs???

renjun’s like where are you taking me what is this

but you brighten like i know a boy who lives here! his name is mark and he’s a witch! he told me once that he lives here w a bunch of other monsters including a werewolf!!

“but i can’t just live w random monsters they won’t accept me as their own”

“sure they will,” you assure him, “they do it all the time.”

you knock on the door

it’s opened by the disgruntled human doyoung, holding a handheld vacuum cleaner

“hello”

you squeeze renjuns hand and blurt out “my friend’s a werewolf and he needs a place to stay.”

werewolf!sicheng pushes doyoung out of the way from wherever he had been hiding and grabs renjun by the shoulders like “where are you from? did you have a pack? how old are you? what color is your fur? does the moon affect you too????”

nd it takes taeil to pull him back like calm down buddy he’s just a pup

bc honestly renjun is small like he’s really not a very big kid and his wolf form looks like a medium sized puppy (not that nct know this)

but renjun is pretty calm i mean he gives off this calm aura and he introduces himself and answers all of sicheng’s questions

it isn’t long before nct welcome him into their home of misfits n monsters

renjun loves it there,, and he calls you every day from mark’s phone to tell you about it

soon doyoung enrolls him in mark’s school so he’s able to get a good education

and he gets to see you every day so he’s happy

life w nct is so much fun for renjun

he’s a part of the club for canines w sicheng jaemin and mark, although he doesn’t understand why mark is there he doesn’t ask questions

realized v v quickly that doyoung doesn’t like his werewolf form simply bc he hates the fur on the couch

it acts up his allergies so renjun tries his hardest to remember not to change his form

but sometimes he and sicheng and jaemin change into dog forms and chase each other around the house for fun so he forgets abt doyoung

poor doyoung

doesn’t rlly know abt the werewolf/vampire rivalry until donghyuck explains it to him

except he rlly exaggerates everything and makes it seem like there was some kind of conspiracy that started the whole war

taeil has to shut him up and tell renjun that it was simply a question of which mosnter was more fearsome

renjun doesn’t think he’s scary at all

he doesn’t think sicheng is scary either

the two of them eventually learn to calm each other down during the full moon so much that neither of them are very scared of the moon anymore

what renjun is still afraid of are humans

the only humans he likes are doyoung and you

otherwise he gets rlly skittish and nervous around them

you don’t know this but he has nightmares a lot about the circus and your boss locking him up again

he has nightmares abt you not rescuing him and him starving in the small cage

it’s hard for him to sleep all through the night he usually wakes up whimpering

and he crawls under sicheng’s covers to feel some kind of comfort

but one day sicheng is out for the night on a date

and when renjun wakes up sicheng still isn’t home,,, and he doesn’t want to wake the other boys bc he isn’t sure if they’ll understand (spoiler alert: they will and they do)

so he steals mark’s phone and calls you up

even though he isn’t crying you can hear the tremor in his voice

“renjun? what wrong?”

nd he breaks down and tells you everything,,,, how he’s scared of most humans,,, and every night he dreams of the circus,,, and how he’s terrified that your boss might find him one day and demand he return

you rush over to the house immediately and renjun lets you in

the first thing he does is hug you

and he sniffs your hair

i know that sounds wierd but renjun connects your scent w his freedom and safety,, and just the scent of you helps him feel more at ease

he doesn’t want to let go like his hands are clasped at the small of your back so tightly he isn’t in any hurry to release you yet

the two of you sit on the couch and watch late night cartoons w a blanket covering your legs

nd eventually renjun lays his head on your lap and tells you all abt his dreams

while you run your fingers through his hair

he falls asleep like this, and you do too after a few minutes

when mark wakes the two of you up the next morning to get ready for school, you’re both snuggled up close to each other

you give renjun your hoodie to sleep w at night so he’ll feel safer,,,, and bc of this he has a lot less nightmares

mark has been practicing magic for as long as he can remember??

like as soon as his parents realized he had the ability to harness magic,, they put him in the closest magic school

which is lowkey just some shady tutor witch who teaches children down in her basement-turned-classroom

but mark loved it!

he learned how to use a magic wand and ride a broom and brew potions,,,, and he was so happy to meet other kids who had the same powers as him

but unfortunately the witch woman only taught kids through first grade :(

so mark had to move to human school

and elementary school was filled w bullies who knew abt marks abnormalities just bc sometime mark can’t control his powers

so he rlly didn’t have any friends

except you!!

in fourth grade you transferred to mark’s school, and as soon as you heard the rumors you were like!!!! magic!!!!!

you’ve read all the books all you know is that mark could bc the key to having a magical fantasy life and you’re ready for it

so you find him in the library and you’re rlly excited like “one time i heard you set the lab on fire by simply touching the table how cool is that pls tell me it’s real”

and mark is like ,,,,,unfortunately,,,, all the rumors are true,,,,,,

he thinks you’re going to like push him away or smth but actually you come back full force w all the excitement your seven year old body could handle “can’t you turn those mean guys into frogs? or make them trip over their own shoelaces???”

mark is like “lol don’t you think i’ve though of that,, but the number one rule of a witch is to never use magic for evil or you could turn into a bad person”

this convo is basically the start of your friendship w mark,,, and you guys end up going to the same highschool together as well

mark moved into the nct house a bit after the start of senior year, just to be around people a bit more like him

he knows haechan from highschool and got introduced to everyone as soon as he figured out haechan’s secret

you’re invited to the house all the time like everyone knows you by name and thinks you’re the funniest thing bc you love mark so much??? and it’s so obvious to everyone but him??

they can all tell (esp taeil, jaehyun, and yuta,, who have been dead alive a long time) that you are in love w him

mostly bc of the way your eyes light up whenever he’s around and how you always encourage him when he gets a spell wrong

see mark’s dream is to become an extremely powerful witch,,, and then start up a school for other kids of magic

like he knows there are a lot who have no idea how to harness their magic just bc,,, they’re scared of what might happen or who might find out

but mark wants to prove that he can teach others by becoming a good enough witch himself first

he’s always experimenting w magic

when he comes to school he smells like smoke and unidentified chemicals

his room is always a warzone, and even sicheng moved out into another room after awhile, since his werewolf senses couldn’t take it

but you love his room,, mostly bc it smells like him,,,,,, it smells like him

and the strange potions he always has brewing excite you to know end bc you’re always wondering what he’s mixing up now

so anyway you confess to mark under,,, peculiar,,, circumstances

he can to school wearing a beanie, which would be normal, except for the fact that out of all the years you’ve known him, mark has never worn a beanie

as soon as he realizes you notice, he pulls you into an empty classroom and pulls off his beanie

mark has,,,, puppy ears,,, peaking out of his hair,,, like lil golden retriever ears that flop over his black hair

mark is like seriously y/n this isn’t funny i was working on this shapeshifting potion and it turned out wrong and only shifted half of me so now i have ears and a tail!!!!!!!!!!!

but his eyes are already puppy-like and he’s just,,, so cute,,, that you have to bite back another squeal “fine i’ll come over after school and we’ll figure out an antidote”

so you find yourself back in mark’s bedroom, homework discarded somewhere on the floor

the two of you had both physical books and the internet opened to try and find a way to reverse the potion’s effects

jaemin interrupts w his own pair of pointy brown ears and a grin “mark i’m just letting you know that you now qualify for me and sicheng’s club for canines”

mark throws a book at him as he leaves, giggling

you turn to mark, “have you got canines like him?”

“what?”

“like dog fangs,,, incisors,,”

mark’s like idk dude i don’t pay attention to my teeth

now you’re curious and aren’t going to get anything done until you know, so ofc you scoot over until you’re sitting right in front of mark like open your mouth and lemme see

mark grimaces but bares his teeth anyways so you can check them

“you do!! they look sharp!!”

you try to touch his teeth but mark holds your wrist back like what the heck are you doing???

but the two of you are super close

and mark is like lowkey sweating bc he’s never been this close to you physically and he lowkey wants to kiss you rn

like,,, a lot

bc he’s always sort of liked you and your curious nature and how you always encourage him to be the best he could be but he has no idea if you like him back

bc he can read tarot cards but he’s terrible at reading people

you aren’t tho thank goodness,,, and you know by the way mark is looking at you that he likes you too

so you lean in rlly close…

and press a kiss against his cheek before pulling back so quick it’s almost like it didn’t even happen

but mark is blushing so it most definitely did happen

and the both of you are flustered and neither of you wanna mention it so you’re just “okay, lets looks for this antidote!!!1!1!1!1!”

you two eventually find a potion that brews overnight

so you wouldn’t find out until the next morning if mark was back to normal or not

but you have to get home lol you have a curfew ofc

the next day at school tho,,,,, mark walks into the halls w no hat and no ears and he runs up and hugs you,,, in front of everyone!!!

and when he lets go of you he grabs your hand and blushes like extra red,,,, and he can’t look you in the eye so he just focuses on your entertained fingers

“hey,,, i rlly like you,,, and i was wondering if you would let me be your boyfriend???”

you don’t answer out of surprise so he frets nervous like “i promise it won’t be as bad as you think!!!”

and you kind of giggle and squeeze his hand back like “i would love too mark”

and as the two of you walk towards your first class you bump his shoulder with your own “I guess you could say this relationship is going to be magical”

“i can’t believe you just said that”

“regretting asking me out already, mark?”

he just shakes his head with a fond smile “never”

here we go w the next monster in the monct house

the way sicheng appeared is a bit of a sad tail tale tbh

so as a werewolf, sicheng was a part of a pack deep in the woods behind monct’s house

he didn’t even know it was there tbh

in case this isn’t obvious,,, sicheng is the runt of his pack

and he basically gets picked on all the time especially by the alfa and the beta of the pack

like they make everything extra hard on him and basically scold him when he can’t do the impossible

and one day sicheng has just had enough like he’s terrified that his own pack members are going to go too far with their punishments and actually kill him

he used to be afraid of running away bc he knew that he would be officially classified as a rogue and his scent wouldn’t belong to any pack

he’d be on his own,,,, and treading back into any kind of pack territory would be an immediate death sentence

and he’s scared and alone,, but he knows this is what he has to do

a pack is supposed to be a family,,, and sicheng only feels like a prisoner

so one night he darts off

he’s the quickest werewolf in his pack, so this works in his favor

OH wait let’s describe the wv: werewolf visuals for a moment shall we

okay you know during johnny’s communication center when winwin looks super duper soft and his hair is that pretty shade of copper brown i know y'all sleep on his visuals but you have to remember look

bc when sicheng transforms into his wolf version, his fur is that same soft copper and his eyes are still big and curious to the world

and he’s limber, both as a wolf and as a human

but he isn’t the slyest,,,, and within ten minutes of running he can already hear his alfa howling from the pack headquarters

it’s threatening and scary and maybe ten minutes is a good head start in human speed but as a werewolf sicheng is doomed if he doesn’t find a hiding place quick

he darts to the left until he sees a light,,,,,, which he realizes is a human house

and…….. tbh………. he’s never seen a human before like he’s heard a bunch of legends about how they’re scary creatures who poke monsters w pitchforks and light werewolf homes on fire

so he’s highkey terrified to go anywhere near the house

but he needs to hide, so he squeezes through the doggy door in the back door of the house

and he panics once he’s in the house bc he can sniff humans and he’s terrified of them finding him so he runs up the stairs,,, into the first room he can find,,,, and he crawls under the bed

and he’s just hoping all the werewolves in his pack won’t come into the house,,, but he knows they can smell him,,,,,

so hesitantly he creeps out from under the bed and looks around for any kind of cologne or perfume

his eyes finally catch on an entire perfume shelf lol like whoever owns this room must collect them for the aesthetic or smth

sicheng just thinks he’s lucky

he transforms back into his human form and like grabs the vials,,,,, and just pours them all over his body,,,,,, and then he pours the rest into the carpet, transforms back into his wolf form,,,,, and rolls around in it to mask his natural scent

this is how you find him LOL

you had just gotten back from your classes and you can smell the absolute floral and fruity storm wafting from your room

and you walk in to see a wolf rolling around in spilled perfume

and tbh you’re a bit startled at first, but you’re even more startled when the wolf notices you and retreats to the corner of your room, its tail between its legs

“hey,,, doggo,,,, idk how you got in here but would you like some food? my moms got a whole t-bone steak in the freezer that i kinda don’t want to cook up so,,,, you can have it if you want”

and the wolf kind of cocks his head to the side as if it’s confused,,,,,,, and before your eyes the wolf forms into a boy,,, a rlly cute boy that is

and he pulls his knees up to his chest like “aren’t you going to poke me w a pitchfork for stealing your perfume?”

you kind of shrug like “look my grandma gets me new perfume every year for my birthday and christmas so i’m just glad they’re finally getting some use.”

“oh” and his voice is so soft and low like he geuinely looks scared of you,,,,, he keeps discreetly checking you out through his eyelashes, only to duck down when you make eye contact w him

“why’d you put it all on anyway?”

nd v v quietly and slowly, sicheng explains how he is a werewolf running away from an abusive pack,,,, and he’s afraid of being caught

and youre like dude!! don’t worry abt it let’s get you cleaned up and fed before i call some friends

so while sicheng takes a bath and gets all the dirt, grime, and fragrance off of him,,,, you call up human!doyoung,, who you know from university

“yo don’t you live at that monster house? can you take one more?”

doyoung agrees to set up a sleeping place for yet another monster

so when sicheng comes out of the bath, freshly clothed in an oversized sweater and some sweatpants you found, you grab his hand like “i found you a place to live!”

and he’s lowkey not rlly excited like he’s already met enough new people for one day thank you very much

but you’re persistent that these people will help him a lot more than you ever could

and you lowkey can’t have a boy at your house when your parents come home it just won’t end well

so sicheng agrees and you drop him off at the monct house

and the first to welcome him is zombie!yuta, who smells like a mix of rotting flesh and honey, and witch!mark, who is excited to meet his new roommate

and sicheng is pretty closed off for the first few days like he accepts the food doyoung slides under his door and then he sleeps the rest of the time

now listen,,,,, around the full moon,,,,, werewolves are forced to transform to like their top physical wolf form

and it isn’t like the soft wolves in the forest,,,, it’s like those creepy walking wolf creatures with elongated spines and long nails

and it hurts a lot,,,, but it can also make sicheng rlly horrible for the night like every wolf gets bloodthirsty and violent and just wants to kill

sicheng warns the rest of the boys abt this and they agree to lock him in a spare bedroom for the night

and none of them can sleep during the night bc sicheng is howling and whimpering and he sounds like he’s in so much pain

mark leaves in the middle of the night to his room to “work on something”

and shapeshifter!jaemin,, after nearly biting off his lower lip in worry, finally transforms into a puppy and toddles over to the bedroom to peak under the crack in the door

he barks for a bit,,,,,,, and it’s like the wolf in sicheng felt a bit of comfort

like wolves are pack creatures and can get super lonely, alright,,,, and sicheng’s been lonely his entire life like he’s never ever been comforted by anything or anyone before

and the rest of nct take after jaemin’s lead,,, like forest fairy!jeno does what he can to try and make passion flowers (which have been proven to calm a dog’s seperation anxiety) grow under the door

witch!mark comes out of his bedroom w a few potion vials under his arm and soot in his hair “i made some healing and sleeping potions for as soon as he’s out of there”

and doyoung calls you bc well,,, you knew sicheng first and he feels it’s important you know what’s happening

but when you get there they seem to have it under control

ghost!jaehyun slides through the walls every hour to update everyone on sicheng’s condition,,, and the worn out werewolf has fallen asleep to the sounds of jaemin speaking puppy talk to him and the sweet scent of the calming plants jeno keeps growing out of nervousness

the next day when sicheng comes out everyone is babying him hardcore

like vampire!taeil wraps a wool blanket around his shoulders and imp!chenle and imp!jisung decided to refrain from unscrewing the salt jar, just so sicheng could have a peaceful morning, and witch!mark is shoving potions down sicheng’s throat

even swamp monster!taeyong becomes motherly w his water bottles reminding sicheng to stay hydrated after his long night!!!!

and sicheng just starts crying???

invisible man!ten is like what did we do what did we do taeiL YOU MADE HIM CRY

but sicheng can only shake his head like “i’m not upset,,, i’m happy”

you dump an entire steak meal in front of him like eat this while you talk you need strength

but all of nct are waiting for an explanation

so sicheng just opens up abt his previous pack and how mean they were for no reason,,,, and he lifts his shirt to show everyone all the scars he has from their cruel punishments

and he looks at you, who nods for him to keep talking,,,,,, and sicheng finally looks at the rest of monct like

“you guys have shown me what a true pack is,,,, i’ve never felt this loved and safe,,,, thank you,,,”

and now it’s an entire monster crying fest like you write your number down on a note and leave it for sicheng before getting the heck out of there

bc when taeyong cries it’s like a mini flood and no one wants to be ankle-deep in that swamp water if they can help it

but everyone is so touched they can’t help it???

IT’S A GROUP HUG

and after that sicheng is a lot less quiet around the boys and you

he helps cook and clean and sometimes gets caught chasing his tail when he’s bored

jaemin still transforms into a puppy whenever he wants just so wolf!sicheng has someone to run around with

and sicheng doesn’t call you bc he has no idea how to use a phone

taeil helps him w a lot of stuff like that

yuta tried to teach sicheng how to flirt but that rlly didn’t turn out great

turns out sicheng can’t flirt at all and has no idea how to act on a date like your first date consists of food cooked by taeil and then a nap on the couch

10 outta 10 really you thought it was great

so yeah sicheng is still learning some stuff

but he learns rlly fast and his savagery skills even outdid the dreamies after he practiced a bit

he’s a great edition to the house

except when he transforms into a wolf and sits on the couch,,, he sheds everywhere and doyoung will not hesitate to chase him w a vacuum cleaner

yeah,,, and also,,,, after a few months sicheng stopped being able to smell his old pack,,,, so they must’ve left the woods to find a warmer home for winter

sicheng is so releaved and happy

he finally has a home and friends who love him and a person he highkey already has his heart he just doesn’t quite know what that means yet

so yeah,,, that’s werewolf!sicheng !!
