Bloodbath at the Cornucopia: Catching Fire Round

The Cornucopia sits in the center of a forest. On the other side of the trees are all the Arenas from the previous Fandom Games.

Ladies and Gentlemen… Let the Fandom Games begin!

A gong sounds, and the nine Tributes, plus Caesar Flickerman, run off round, metal platforms. They head for the Cornucopia, where they fight for the supplies they think that they’d need to survive in the Games, in what is expected to be the bloodiest part of the Games.

So, in the Cornucopia, I got a bag of food. And a couple guns. And a knife.

And then Niobe and Alex and Captain Robau all started heading off in the same direction, so I followed them.

Either all of them or none of them. I’m hoping none of them. I’m just gonna try my holistic thing again and hope the Universe doesn’t fuck me over again.

The Forest

So, today, I wanted to go see what was in the forest in the Arena.

Todd thought it was a stupid idea, but then Amy reminded him that there were other Tributes out there, and we should stick together to have less of a chance of dying.

I didn’t know what was a worse idea: Dirk (almost) going into the forest alone, or him dragging me and Amy with him.

After wandering around a while, hearing weird noises from unseen creatures, we saw an odd figure with glowing eyes. I’m not exaggerating when I say it had eyes that were glowing.

Of course Dirk would have us run across a creature that was trying to kill us.

A car. It was a fucking car, a light blue Ford Anglia.

And it started driving towards us. On its own. Dirk walked towards it, like he was trying to make friends with it.

And yet, it somehow worked.

The sentient car let Dirk get into the driver’s seat. Todd was in the front passenger’s seat, and I was in back.

Dirk’s driving isn’t that great when we’re on actual roads. It was worse, trying to get out of the forest.

At the forest’s edge, Dirk managed to get the car to fly, after randomly pressing a series of buttons on the dashboard.

And then, once we got close to the school, we started losing altitude.

Meanwhile, in the school…

Bart and I had been exploring the classrooms, eventually settling on one with an odd, winged skeleton suspended from the ceiling.

We were too busy debating whether it was a dragon (Bart’s idea) or a dinosaur (mine) to notice Krall come in.

At least, not until he stabbed me in the back.

OK, so, I was pissed. Nobody kills Ken. Except for me. Eventually. If I absolutely needed to.

So, I chased Krall through the castle and into the courtyard, shooting at him.

And then this blue car just fell out of the sky and landed on Krall before I could get a shot at him.

Apparently, I landed the car on Krall.

And then there was Bart, chasing after him, screaming and shooting.

The shots that were meant for Krall missed him, since he was under the car, and they ended up going inside, hitting me, Todd, and Amy.

The last thing I remember was Bart jumping up onto the car, screaming about how Krall was her kill.

There were three cannons.

I wanted to kill Dirk Gently, but I kinda wanted to wait until I killed Krall first.

I thought that wasn’t gonna happen, but when I started to climb off of the hood of the car, Krall was slowly crawling out from under it.

I quickly reloaded my gun and emptied it on him.

And that was it.

Back to me, the Ken-less, lonely, holistic assassin.

And winning didn’t seem so fun.

Bloodbath at the Cornucopia: Round Eight

Located outside a Quidditch pitch, the Cornucopia is in an empty field.

Surrounding the Cornucopia, and extending beyond it, are the grounds and castle of the Hogwarts School for Witchcraft and Wizardry. And instead of the normal magical force field keeping Muggles away from the school, there’s the force field keeping the Tributes in.

So, Ken and I rushed into the Cornucopia. Poppy Dada was close behind us, and she started shooting. Ken’s arm got grazed, but he should be fine.

Imagine the look on Poppy’s face when she realized all the bullets aimed at me just... missed.

Training Arena

So, Ken and I were in the Training Arena.

It’s not like I’d need the training, since this death match is basically my day job, but I thought it might be a good idea to check out the weapon selection here in the Training Arena in the hopes that it’d give me some sort of clue as to what sort of stuff they might give us in the Cornucopia next week.

I asked Ken, “You’re gonna be working with me once we get into the Games, right?”

“Well, yeah...” he replied. “You’re my friend. And a holistic assassin would be good to have around in a death match, right?”

“That’s what I thought.”
