not to sound insane or anything but thereās something sooo interesting to me about the parallel between Michaelās āI was running with a bunch of crazy motherfuckers with nothing to loseā and Trevorās āI could feel like I was losing you, so I pushed you harder. I didnāt want to lose youā because itās like. god. they are so disconnected in this area. and that specific disconnect means So Much
to michael, trevor was acting out and taking more risks because he didnāt understand what it meant to have something to care for. trevor doesnāt get what itās like to have more than just your life at stake when you put it on the line
but to trevor, michael and their partnership was kinda the only āthingā he Could have lost. michael was slipping away, and what would he have then? brad? fuck brad. brad is a terrible replacement, in hindsight. trevor said he was planning to cut michael off, and maybe he would have, but not so soon. of course he desperately clings onto what they have. how could he not? their shared love of danger and risks and adrenaline brought them together in the first place, so surely it would bring them back. it had to or heād have nothing left
and of course michael doesnāt get that. i mean why would he. heās holding back for the sake of his family and suddenly his crew (trevor mostly) is trying to get them all killed. he thinks they just donāt get it and they probably never will. and in turn, trevor doesnāt think michael gets what itās like to feel yourself slowly being deprived of someone who means absolutely everything to you
now donāt get me wrong, i donāt think michael āshouldā have understood what trevor was doing because thatās not really fair. heās not psychic. i just think itās sad. trevor was trying so hard to show michael what he was missing by āgoing softā and leaving him behind, trying so hard not to lose him for good, that it sent the complete opposite message. Like, entirely opposite. thatās so sad
Thereās the running joke of Trevor having mommy issues and itās really kinda sad that itās just seen as a joke. Trevor is an extremely tragic character when you step back and look at him. When we see his mother show up, the way she talks to him is terrible and itās very evident that he has internalized this, especially in the way he talks to Ron and Wade. Being traumatized and made to feel insignificant and powerless turned him into someone who likes to feel some sort of control over himself and others. And that careless anger is definitely from her. Then if you think about the rampage cutscenes, almost Everytime Trevor loses his cool itās over someone calling him a mother fucker. I think the worst one is the one where he responds āItās not fucking legally fucking if thereās no penetration.ā Iām not sure how else this line is supposed to be interpreted other than Trevor was sexually abused by his mother. It just fills me with a very sad feeling to see people just boil him down to being āinsaneā or āsociopathicā which isnāt really accurate. He is very much a victim of abuse.

So Iām watching DarkViperAUās āanalysisā(? of Trevor and he shows the scene in āFame or Shameā where Tracey goes up to Trevor and gives him a hug. Iāve mentioned how fond he was of Tracey before (and how sheās the only one to hug Trevor!!) but he literally SMILES. This is one of the only times he smiles without there being some sort of malice behind it in cutscenes. My heart is going to explode.
