I think about the dentist I saw as a child all the time - my mom saw his dad (family dentistry practice) growing up. I had a bid gap between my front teeth and he said not to put me in braces because a gap could be so iconic and lots of models have them, and it would probably close on its own anyway. It did close but honestly I was excited by the prospect of having a gap and it just really strikes me as such a kindness and such an honest approach to the art of oral maintenance that he wasn't interested in overselling or overreferring - hard to find a good dentist like that
