Share your love of music

Hello again, so another song I’d like to share with you is a song by an artist called Marie Digby with a song “Unfold”. Digby became very popular in the early years of Youtube with her acoustic cover of Rihanna’s “Umbrella”. She then continued to upload cover songs as well as working on her first album “Unfold”. Very similarly to Dia Frampton who I talked about in one of my previous posts, her lyrics and her song writing skills speaks volumes within her music (pun not intended). Throughout the album she writes about her struggles through school, love life and coming out of her comfort zone. I love this song because it incorporates her talented guitar skills and soft toned vocals. I also love the use of the electronic sounds throughout the song though very subtle. When listening to her lyrics, the words she uses to explain her trouble expressing herself is very clever. I would also recommend listening to the entire album. I hope you enjoy :D

So I’m pretty sure you’ve all heard of the song ‘Hallelujah’ made famous by Jeff Buckley but originally done by Leonard Cohen. If not you should look it up. But have you ever heard it like this? Cinematic pop rearrange popular songs and create a piece with a full orchestra, a choir and a solo singer. I think that what they did is genius. I am a sucker for a choir and for a good orchestra. Fantastic instrumentation and I’m pretty sure you’ve got me sold. The soloist in this video is amazing and has a fantastic tone for the song but just the way the song is reconstructed and broken down is lovely. I hope you enjoy this :D 

So to get this blog started, I thought I would share with you one of my favourite songs of all time. I love and appreciate this song so much that I have it quoted on my body. Meg and Dia, formed around 2004, are both sisters who started a band with 3 other members. They have released many albums together and this one I believe is their 3rd called ‘Here, Here and Here’ released 2009. This is song and album are my favourites because of how they structure and write their songs. Just listen to the lyrics. And not to mention the instrumentation throughout the whole piece. So music is around us in our everyday lives. We listen to it on our ipods, on youtube, you hear it on adverts, hearing someone humming. EVERYWHERE. I think it’s safe to say that music is very valuable in our lives. But you know I love music so much and I love to listen to new things. I am open to anything and everything and I was wondering if you were too. I would love to share my music or recent songs I have discovered with you if you would do the same for me.
