It's great that you like Legacy best, and that's fine! Yes I see you posting "Tron Legacy is my Entire Childhood," and that's fine! What's not fine is pretending that your opinion is objective fact, and that people who like the 1982 film best, or Tron Ares best, are factually wrong for disagreeing with you.

Seriously though, I am starting to see many "It's so good and so fortunate that Legacy got made, because what even is the 1982 film, amirite?" takes over on Reddit that I am about to respond to them all with "ok Zoomer" no matter what their actual age is.

I can understand people having reservations about Tron Ares even though I loved it. But put some respect on the original entry in the series, for Flynn's sake! Put some respect on Steven Lisberger and Bonnie MacBird for birthing this thing into existence.

You know what's weird? Seeing people bash the 1982 film, but slamming Ares for "Not actually having Tron in it." My sibling in Flynn, do you not remember the wailing and gnashing of teeth and the rending of garments which occurred back in 2010 when Legacy "barely had any Tron in it?"

Yes, I know you think the Daft Punk score is literal musical perfection, but Wendy Carlos literally trailblazed her way to that excellence so that they could rock out the End Of Line club.

Once upon a time, there was a film called Tron. It came out in the year 1982, a great year for movies and it wrote its name on the face of time IN BLOOD! Tron happened, it developed a cult following, I grew up with it, and I don't think anyone expected there to ever be another one.

Then there was another one, and it was like the Two Cakes meme.

Two Cakes! Someone brought more cake to the party! And that's what Tron Ares feels like to most of us. Look, a third cake! (or fourth, if you are not just counting Uprising as being the strawberries on top of the Legacy Cake or something like that.) But some people are demanding that folks only acknowledge the second cake, and that feels weird.

Liking Tron Legacy is fine. Talking, acting, and posting like you think the other entries in the franchise are literal corruptions or blasphemies against Your Favorite Thing is just dumb and a bit weird IMHO.
