Donovan slowly opened the apartment door. Gun drawn, the veteran policeman walked very carefully as his eyes scanned the room.

“Donovan, what a pleasant surprise” Cassidy said playfully as she comfortably sat on a couch with her legs-crossed.

Donovan smirked as she pushed up the brim of the fedora she was wearing with the barrel of her handgun. she then put the gun away in her shoulder holster and walked next to the redheaded female private investigator.

The barrel-chested cop pointed at the bound and gagged woman sitting on the same couch that Cassidy was.

“Hey Red, introduce me to your friend”, Donovan said in her gravelly voice.

With her eyes glaring, the raven-haired woman mumbled something unintelligible through her gag, The tied-up woman winced in pain as she struggled frantically to no avail to free herself from the rope wrapped tightly around her wrists and shoulders.

Cassidy stood up and walked very close to Donovan. The pretty redhead said “This is Sadie McDermott, wanted by the police as a dangerous fugitive.”

Cassidy then grinned wide and blinked her eyes quickly and said “And has a $200 bounty on her”.

Donovan grunted in approval as he looked down at Sadie. She was part of a gang involved in a string of bank robberies down the east coast.

“Forgot my cuffs so I had to remember my knot-tying skills again” Cassidy said sheepishly as she pointed to the bound Sadie.

Donovan smirked and said “Let’s go back to the station. We can drop off the broad, you can pick up your reward, and then you take me out to dinner.”

Cassidy smiled and said “Sorry, you big lug, but this reward is going to pay rent.”

When she heard him pick up the phone, Cassidy said “Donovan, you big lug, who’s your favorite Private Investigator?”

Donovan, chuckled and with his gravely voice the veteran policeman said “Cassidy, what do I owe the pleasure?”

Cassidy quickly spoke “I know your looking for Shakey Martin about that shooting at the Flamingo Night Club”

The shooting had been big news and a generous reward of one-thousand-dollars had been offered by the police for information on Shakey Martin.

Donovan sounded very interested as he said “What do you got for me red?”

Cassidy continued speaking quickly “I got a tip that Shakey was at his uncle’s cabin on Whispering Pines Lake. Now you want the good news or the bad news first?”

Donovan hesitated then said “Give me the bad news”

The redheaded Private Investigator said “Well I got here too late as Shakey’s not here”

“Then what’s the good news?” Donovan said in his raspy voice.

Cassidy said “Dimples Cavanaugh, one of the dancers at the Flamingo Club is at the cabin. I think she’s pretty tight with Shakey as she wasn’t giving me any info about where he went”

Cassidy continued “It’s too much a coincidence that a dancer from where the shooting took place, just happens to be here”

Donovan said “What’s your plan Cassidy?”

The pretty redhead said “I’m going to find Shakey. I know I’m close. I’m leaving Dimples trussed up like a turkey for you and the boys in blue. Maybe you’ll have better luck than me getting her to spill the beans”

“Okay, I’ll send a patrol car there quick” Donovan said. He then said with concern before hanging up the phone, “Be careful Cassidy, Shakey’s a nasty bastard.”

Cassidy looked at the bound and gagged Dimples. The voluptuous blonde struggled with the rope that securely bound her.

“The cops want to talk to you Dimples, so try to get comfortable as you wait” Cassidy said as she walked towards the front door.

As she walked determinedly, the redhead Private Investigator said to herself “Now to find Shakey and get that one-thousand-dollar reward.”

The woman gave a frustrated moan under her gag as she ineffectively tried to free herself.

“Sorry, about the ropes Ramona, but your story isn’t matching-up”, Cassidy said.

The pretty redheaded Private Investigator continued. “I need to shoot the breeze with that shifty boyfriend of yours but I don’t want you calling him and warning him that I’m coming”.

Cassidy stood up and walked to the door. “If both your stories jive, then I owe you one. If not, you and your boyfriend should get ready to spend some time in the big house”.

Ramona gave an exasperated groan as Cassidy slammed the door closed.

Dottie pulled at the ropes but she was securely and tightly bound. She held her breath as she watched Cassidy dramatically pull a chair over sat down and crossed her arms and legs.

The redheaded Private Investigator then said in an impatient tone “The ring. Where is it?”

Cassidy had been hired to retrieve a wedding ring that had been stolen. Her client had been in town for a business meeting and had met a woman in the hotel bar. One thing led to another and when he woke up, he had been robbed of his wallet, watch and his wedding ring. The client promised Cassidy a large bonus if she retrieved the ring back quickly.

The female P-I’s investigative work had led to her to the apartment of call girl, Dottie Francois.

Cassidy confronted the woman and told her she didn’t want any trouble, just the ring. Dottie had denied everything and then foolishly took a swing at the redhead, which resulted in the woman in her current situation.

Cassidy leaned into Dottie, pushed the sleeves of her coat over her elbows as ominously said “Last time, where’s the ring?”

After giving a bouncer a 20-spot to look the other way, Cassidy stealthily slipped into the back of the Flamingo Night Club.

She could hear the muffled noise of music and people down at the end of the empty hallway. The redheaded private investigator was pleased that no one was around as she cautiously moved forward.

Suddenly a door opened ahead of her and a tall, busty blonde in a gold sequined costume scurried out. The blonde and Cassidy’s eyes met instantly.

Cassidy froze for a moment, it was Nicky, Rico’s girlfriend who was a dancer at the club. If she told Rico that she was in the night club, it would ruin her entire investigation.

The blonde gave Cassidy a quizzical look and said “I know you. You’re that lady P-I that’s been giving Rico trouble. You know you’re cruisin’ for a bruisin’, ginger”.

Cassidy acted fast. She quickly sprung at Nicky. She firmly put one hand over the surprised woman’s mouth and pushed her back into the room she had come out of.

After a short tussle, Nicky was tightly bound and gagged in her dressing room. The blonde was furious and struggled unsuccessfully to free herself.

Cassidy stood in the doorway and was satisfied that blonde wouldn’t be a problem for a while. She was tied tightly and no one would hear her with all the noise in the night club.
