Rules

Stay on topic. Submissions should relate to OCs, character creation, or OC culture on Toyhou.se. This is not a general drama blog.

No targeted harassment or callouts. You may mention specific users in the context of discussing their OCs or design work, but do not use this blog to attack, harass, or dogpile individuals. Constructive criticism of public OCs/designs is fine; personal attacks are not. This blog will not be used as a platform for serious accusations of scamming, art theft, or other misconduct. Take those issues to appropriate channels.

I LOOOOOOOVE it when I encounter characters with extensive backstories or when they have lore to them! Don’t get me wrong, I also love designs even with nothing else, but seriously, the character writing often takes it to the next level!

I have very few lore-filled characters myself, (a lot of the lore I did is moreso intended to be an overarching story/universe, not individual characters) but I know they can take ages to do! (One particular character I coded and made lore for took a whole MONTH. It isn’t easy lemme tell you.)

Please, if any of you wanna do lore-filled OCs, do it! Because at least some person thinks of it like this…

Does it happen that sometimes I don’t know exactly what to do with them? Yeah. But y’know what? Characters are like food, in a sense you can save them for later (and unlike most foods literally speaking, they don’t expire! They’re like honey jars :]c) ANDDD you can always re-use them, too!

Freebies of all kinds are awesome also because they’re often designs that need a home, and well… I love re-homing them. I’ve actually never put up a character from someone else, especially freebies, up for sale, because every single freebie I’ve found has a charm you can only find elsewhere in adoptable puppies and kitties and well-loved secondhand objects.

Keep putting freebies up for grabs, Toyhouse, because at least one person in the world cares about those lil’ underdogs of the OC world! 🥹🫶

While the community is rough around the edges, on occasion annoying at best and toxic at worse.. I love the format of the site. I love the empty code boxes to fill in (or not!) and I love the coding people do for the site!

OC trading can be annoying, but after I've developed my art style more and figured out a "correct" (for me, at least) way to do it, I'm having so much fun! I know I'm considered a "hoarder" by those who make a fuss about it, but I work on my sillies so, so much! I love my silly little world and I love my silly little guys and I especially love this silly little hellsite I put my passion onto!

I'm especially glad for the friends I made along the way, the friends who helped me learn toyhouse, and the friends who helped me out when my life was in shambles. I'm so grateful for this site and my life is so much better now (I can also say I was legitimately adopted by a toyhouse user now,, lol) hehe )

I got a free character and I love them so much, i am so happy the owner gave them to me. i have been working on the story and artwork every chance I get. 90% of characters i own were made by me so its always very special getting a character made by someone else since I treasure them a bit more.

Works wonders. Like I'm definitely still not okay but it helps me process the more incoherent feelings of just "they should still be alive" on repeat in my head by beaming that into a random OCs head instead.
