My Sunday night.
Apparently I can't go to bed tonight because my pillow is now her pillow.
Baseball season has arrived! First doubleheader of the year.
I can't feel my face when I'm with you... Someone is getting a filling and having his first experience with Novocaine.

April Fool's!
This snow is a horrible April Fool's joke from Mother Nature! It didn't stop us from getting up and heading to 7a circuit class at The Big Top though. And it didn't stop many others either since it was probably the biggest class I've seen on a Saturday. On the injury front, I'm still dealing with the sciatica, but so far no added strain on the back from working out a couple times. I have an MRI on Wednesday and then follow up with the orthopaedic doctor on Thursday to see what we are going to do. -T
Update
After Thursday's workout, I could finally walk normal yesterday. No further agrevation to my lower back besides the continued sciatica. Went to the orthopaedic doctor Monday and he is sending me for another MRI. He said usually a herniated disk will either heal over 8-10 months after injury or be a constant cause of flare ups. Since I've had this same issue a few times in the last few years, his guess is the MRI will show the disk never fully healed and if that is confirmed he thinks it is a good idea to start talking to a surgeon about a diskectomy to remove the disk for a more permanent fix than injections. So now we wait for the MRI and results to decide on a path. -T
I may have to come into the office more often now...
Team SufferFun
After a fun week in Mexico I made a return to The Big Top tonight. Â I was only planning to do stretching at the beginning with the group and then do my own thing so as not to injure myself or make my sciatica worse. Â But when I saw the workout, I knew it was movements I could probably do.
It was another good partner workout. Â One partner did section A while the other partner did an amrap for section B. Â Partner A was in charge of how long partner B had to do the amrap based on how long it took them to complete section A. Â For the amrap, the second move in section B changed each time you became partner B and it was always a ladder to increase reps for that move only. Â First time as partner B was +2 ring rows/pullups, second time was +2 slam balls, third time was +3 chest to floor pushups. Â
My night looked like this:
Partner B amrap 1 -4 bb squat 3 second hold (65#) -+2 ring rows/pullups Completed 3 rounds Partner A 3 rounds -15 wall balls -5m-10m-15m gut buster Partner B amrap 2 -4 bb squat 3 second hold (65#) -+2 slam balls Completed 3 rounds
Partner A 3 rounds -15 wall balls -5m-10m-15m gut buster Partner B amrap 3 -4 bb squat 3 second hold (65#) -+3 chest to floor pushups Completed 2 rounds Partner A 3 rounds -15 wall balls -5m-10m-15m gut busterÂ
After the third amrap, I told the wife I was done...but my OCD got the best of me and I finished off the last partner A section.
Muscles are sore.  This was a bit more aggressive than the couple workouts I attempted on vacation.  Hopefully I don’t re-injure myself.  So far still just sciatica pain and no worse yet...

Son of a bitch....
Bataan Memorial Death March Solidarity Workout
A friend of ours from The Big Top took part in the Bataan Memorial Death March 75th anniversary yesterday (http://bataanmarch.com) in honor of his grandfather who was a POW during WWII. A group at TBT was getting together to do a solidarity workout of 262s (the march is a 26.2 mile event). They added one move for each person that joined them and did 262 reps as a team. Even though we weren't home to join them, Heidi and I did our own little 262 workout here in Mexico. 262 push-ups 262 sit-ups (I did crunches due to my back) 262 squats 262 mountain climbers We split the work evenly so it was 131 reps of each movement for each of us. It has left me today feeling sore in many places, but luckily my back and sciatica are no worse. Almost one for dinner on our last night here and then a travel day home tomorrow before getting back to the real world... -T
So far, so good
The back is no worse, no better. Hopefully tomorrow proves the same. -T
In honor of St. Patrick's Day, I have been drinking whiskey all day, but had a green drink to end the day at the pool, an electric lemonade.
Yesterday's view. Today is much of the same! (at Grand Riviera Princess)

Testing the waters...
The herniated discs have gone back to "normal" and I'm stuck with a lingering sciatic pain down into the butt (and further down the leg after walking for long distances). But since we're on vacation in sunny Mexico, I decided to test the waters with my back. Wednesday I did a short circuit on our patio that consisted of 50 push-ups, 50 crunches, 50 air squats, and 50 glute raises. Not gonna lie - it was tough after being out of commission for 4-5 weeks. Yesterday I felt a slight muscle soreness but the sciatica wasn't worse. I took the day off to make sure nothing got worse throughout the day and it was status quo. So today I went to the gym with the wife. Luckily this isn't like most resort gyms that only have cardio equipment; this one has kbs, dbs, preset barbells, squat rack, box jump platform, jump ropes, battle rope, and tons of cardio equipment and other weight equipment you'd find in a "normal" gym. I didn't want to push it too hard, but wanted to make a good test of it so I did the following: -50 leg extension (50kg/110lb) -50 db bench (12.5kg/27.5lb ea hand) -50 leg press (10 @ 50kg/110lb, 20 @ 70kg/154lb, 20 @ 80kg/176lb) -50 kb snatch (16kg/35lb - biggest kb they had) Now relaxing by the pool again and hoping today yields the same results as yesterday: no extra pain! -T
#PHL take notice, a little snow doesn't need to shut down an airport. #PWM and #DTW know what they are doing. (at Detroit Metro Airport (DTW))
