What if Alpha-17 came back/survived his encounter with Ventress?
Before I begin the snippet, just a quick heads-up, I only know some thing about Alpha, I've only read a few posts about him, about who he was, what happened to him, etc. But I FOR SURE, know that he was a very big man- like, bigger than Wrecker type of big man.
This snippet could he interpreted as Alpha-17 x Scavenger/Pirate reader, so feel free to read and know that this is only my speculation and some parts may be ooc.
With this in mind, if you are still reading, I hope you enjoy this little snippet and have a nice day/afternoon/evening/night! :)
WARNING: MENTIONS OF GORE, BLOOD, DEAD BODIES, MENTIONS OF EXPERIMENTATION
A normal looting, that's what the mission was supposed to me. Search an abandoned Separatist outpost and loot it, if you find anything valuable, which, to be honest wasn expected.
The whole outpost is run-down, metal walls now rusty and broken, mechanic doors not even able to open up, only after a little tinkering thanks to your hacking skills and help from fellow scavengers.
Of course you find many things you expected to, old battle droids, tactical droid parts, bunch of data that could be sold for a dime, blasters, some containers full of valuable trinkets or even gold(these separatists knew how to get what they want).
However, a few minutes later one of the older members of your scavenger group find a staircase going deeper into the outpost, the place smells horrible but it only fuels your curiousity which outweighs your concern and anxiety at this point.
Adjusting your mask to be able to breath in the thick (and hopefully only humid) air, you and some others walk down, few of them have their hands on their blasters just in case.
Jail cells, not just one but many..you suppose it was for hostages or whoever they could capture before they had to abandon this outpost, you wonder why. Many of the cells are filled with already rotten or bodies, skeletons..some still in their old armor. The sight sends chills down your spine, not the good kind..
You adjust your gloves and mask before heading deeper, your flashlight helping you see..just when you are about to give up and quit, your flashlight flashes onto a more sturdy iron door. You turn towards it. The door is rusty, sure, but not as much as the outpost..there is a small window in the middle, unfortunately no longer see-through. You knock on the door, it seems thick enough to be bulletproof or very resiliant. You begin to hack the door which, after a long hiss, slowly opens up..revealing a very shocking sight.
A man is chained to some machines..iron cuffs holding his wrists up while his legs are weighed down onto the cold metal plate bellow. The man is HUGE, pure mass of scarred muscle, he looks bigger than any man you've ever seen. You direct your flashlight at him..he doesn't seem to react but you get a good look at the man, he only has a pair of trunks on, upper body visible. Tubes sticking out here and there. He doesn't look particurarly muscular but he is for sure built like a giant tank.
You take precatious steps towards the big man, his skin looks tan..hair black as the void but nearly buzzcut. Is he even alive? You think to yourself as you look around, seeing old computers, now out of order. To your absolute shock, once you lean closer you can hear weak and raspy breathing, you reach forward and press two fingers on the pulsepoint on his neck. The heartbeat is very faint but you immediately move your hands away once you feel the skin tense under your fingertips. A small, hoarse and almost incomprihenseble growl comes from the man's throat.
You look at the man's face more carefully now, he doesn't have his eyes open but his browns are slightly furrowed, what catches your attention the most is the dried blood on his mouth and chin. What did they do to this man?..
"hello?.." You whisper quietly but the man doesn't answer. You can hear some other scavengers coming, letting out shocked gasps or just halting in their step all-together. Something inside you, either incredibely stupid or courageous..or both, urges you to start undoing the man's restraints.
"Are you crazy?! What if he wakes up and kills us all you Nerfherder?!" One of the older scavengers says, stepping closer to stop you.
"We can't just leave him here to die! Who knows! Maybe he can help us!" You say, determined to do, what in your opinion, is the right thing to do. However, once the restraints and tubes are off, the man's eyes snap open and in a flash he grabs you by your tactical suit. You let out a scream as you get pulled down by the man, who, not expecting to be weaker due to time passing, falls on the ground.
His grip is iron-tight on your suit, his gaze, if it could, would burn a hole through you, he is heaving, clearly straining himself after months, maybe even years of captivity. As he tries to speak..you realise why there was blood on his mouth to begin with..his tongue has been cut out.
"E-Easy!! We are friendly! Friendly!" You say in panic as you tries to calm the, seemingly in fight, man who still has an iron grip on you. The other scavengers around you have their blasters aimed at the man.
The man's grip is still tightly but starts to tremble before he falls on the ground with a heavy thud, finally letting go of your suit. Gasping with relief you back away, some of your fellows come to your aid.
After a long discussion you and the rest of the scavengers decide to take the man away. The leaving is quick due to not wanting to be detected by the Republic nor Separatists.
A few days pass, you are always by the man's side even tho he is quite skittish and hostile towards all of you. Only after the first week does he start to slowly trust you more, you help him communicate by giving him a Datapad.
He only reveals a month later that his name is Alpha-17, the older scavangers reveal to you that he was once a very feared trooper..before he disappeared. You try to ask Alpha about this but he only replies with "Separatists".
To find more topics to talk about with him, you start telling him about your life, ask him about the war and what he thinks, to which you don't really get long answers at first, but he starts to open up more. Once he starts getting better and gets a lot of rations he starts walking around, at first with your and your friend's help since he is a big man and weighs more than a battleship.
After a while he starts being more active, training himself, practicing his shooting skills, he learns ASL thanks to you and communicates more. One time you even catch him scowling at a few new scavengers as if he was their personal coach. You ask him about it and he, after many-many attempts, tells you about his cadets, his adi'ka and vod'ika. About, in his opinion, infuriating jedi, most importantly Kenobi, whom you tell him is a big and well known jedi now with his former padawan Anakin Skywalker to which you can see how baffles he gets by the way his eyes widen and scoffs.
Of course you offer to deliver him to see his vodi'ka and friends after he is in a much better condition, you even manage to scavange and modify some unused clone trooper armor for him but he goes against it, saying that he wouldn't be able to go back now and that he has new "cadets" to train, nodding with his head towards the new scavengers of your group. He tells you stories about his old cadets, some shock you, to hear how chaotic and aggressive clones Captain Rex, Commander Cody and Commander Wolffe were, clones you wouldn't even expect to act like rabid animals towards someone like Alpha-17.
Turns out, he has a crude but amusing sense of humor..clone humor, he calls it, you call it "being a jerk" to which he only smirks and rolls his eyes.
You never would've guessed to have someone on your side, a man like Alpha-17 but you don't even mind having this "scary dog privilege" as one of the newbies says.
