Folks are welcome to talk about not liking the finale, of course! but I will never understand why I see Beardsley get so much ire directed at them, when Mulligan (or the others at the table) are the ones setting these bits up.

Beardsley doing unhinged shit in a D20 finale is damn near part of the brand at this point.

#it’s literally fine to criticise the finale and feel let down by the ending #i agree with those frustrations to some extent!#but directing all your frustrations at ally and emily - which is what i’m predominantly seeing - is misguided (and sexist)#ESPECIALLY when it’s paired with sentiments like ‘poor brennan had to throw away his carefully planned story’#‘brennan is a master storyteller who was forced to gave in and cave to the chaos of his players’#like. shut uppp #it is brennan’s responsibility both as DM and as executive producer to set the tone and expectations #executive producer isn’t just a vanity credit.#he is in charge of that show and if he wanted his cast of trained talented performers to act a certain way then it is his job to convey that #and that can be done!#i am a huge naddpod fan in large part because of how expertly it balances comedy and story/stakes #and that is a testament to murph’s skills both as a DM and as a producer #it is a comedy podcast but the cast knows and understands when it is time to lock in #because their DM tells them. and sets that expectation.#i just. i think everyone who feels disappointed by how d20 seasons often go off the rails #and wants a fun comedy actual play full of shenanigans and bits #but that also commits to character development and telling a good story and stakes #needs to listen to naddpod. please. it’s so good and exactly what you are looking for #anyway. naddpod tangent!#city council of darkness
