This always hits me hard.. Fuck worrying about petty shit. Fuck materialistic bullshit. There is SO MUCH that we take for granted. I constantly ask myself who the hell cares about what this celebrity is doing or what tha hot new trend is. SERIOUSLY fuck money, material, greed, and trying to go along with society’s expectations. There are people who have to endure haunting and heartbreaking things like this young woman did; things that some of us could never, ever, imagine having to come across in any of our years ahead. These are the things that keep me awake at night because I live for the goodness still in that young girl’s life. How much it impacted her to be heard.
If I make it that far in life.. I want to get my mother’s tattoo once I’ve become a mother myself and am able to stand on my own two feet in the world. The tattoo is of a lotus rising from the mud, which represents her overcoming many obstacles she had to deal with in life, as well as, being proud of who she’s become and is still growing to be because of them.
For me, it’s that shared bond of understanding and beliefs between my mom and I. And also knowing I was one of the main reasons she fought so hard for a better life.

The secluded village of Zalipie in southeastern Poland is home to a charming tradition. Over a century ago the women of the village began to paint their houses.
HH: Look at that cute little dog house.

I found inspiration today from someone I was least expecting to relate to. What they were saying hit home on some really stressful and trying things that have come up in the last couple months. Not only with my personal relationships but within myself. Many of us tell ourselves we’ll be patient. We’ll be better. We’ll have everything figured out someday. We’ll start on that day or this, today, tomorrow, next week. Of course a lot of the time we find ourselves in a state of disappointment. She brought up those feelings of, “why can’t I have that dream job I’ve been working hard for yet?” “Why can’t I have the endless amount of funds to buy what my heart desires?” All of these questions come up and I realized we’re all dealing with these emotions. We’re all trying to better ourselves - and that in itself is an accomplishment we have to acknowledge. You want to go back to school, have the kind of money to travel or move away from things that are holding you back? Instead of spending that little amount of $ on drinks and short term gratification this weekend, make the effort to put that away somewhere safe to better your future. If you want something you have to go out and do it. One of my best friends has showed me that in the last year and I didn’t quite understand what it takes until I had shit hit the fan. I realized I could easily get up and go. I could start over any part of my life I choose to. I can do anything I set my mind to. It may sound selfish if you feel like you’re leaving someone behind, but you’re not. You’re only inspiring them to better themselves as well. There is a quote that has resonated with me and become a deep part of my beliefs. It’s said by, Marianne Williamson, one of my favorite speakers and authors. The whole speech is something I feel everyone should listen to at least once in their life, but these parts specifically are things I tell myself on days when I feel lazy, frumpy, and like I’m not good enough…. “Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure…As we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give others permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.”
There is a certain level of fear I’ve instilled in myself. These fears come out in ways where I feel like I’m not good enough, not smart enough, not determined enough. But these are all just fears, fears that can be overcome by our own actions, choices and empowering thoughts. We are good enough, and maybe I was trying to sound inspirational but I think I needed to remind myself of these things too. I’m finally feeling how powerful I can be and positively I can impact others around me if I work hard and take risks worth taking.
