Sigh. The tragedy of naruto's under-developed romance isn't that Kishiomoto is a bad writer. It's that he's great enough at writing stuff that compels him (surprisingly complex and developed (male) characters and dynamics) but half asses stuff as soon as he's bored (like with romance). Like if he was just a bad writer we wouldn't care or like the characters so much. it's the fact that he's SUCH a good writer in some regards that make his failures that much more frustrating.

Hopes are high for the new sasuke book. Already know basically what the plot will be, so the only concern is gonna be the characterization. And Sasuke was catatonic in this little intro so. So far so good!

Naruto as Rin in the Trauma Parralel is SUCH an underrated take for how real and true it is.....

I honestly assume Kiri is gonna have a cultural backslide into 'tradition' since so many clans are gonna be paranoid about loosing EVERYTHING again.

Shikamaru suddenly cares SO MUCH about a 'fair fight' when its against a person that he'll have to kill up close and personal, and if I got really pretentious maybe the sense of fairness stems from his game of choice being shogi, a stratagy game where both sides start off on even terms and take measured turns and it's basically impossible to cheat.

One of the saddest parts of any minato lives au in my head is like. Listen. Either kakahsi never realizes there is something wrong with his silly sensei, or one day he realizes there is something WRONG. With his 'silly sensei'. and honestly they're both equally tragic in their own rights. Minato wouldn't be complicit in the uchiha masacare, Danzou would ABSOLUTELY be summarily excecuted for it if he did pull it off in some capacity (Minato LIKED Fugaku :< that was his BUDDY. Have you MET Minato? he would LOVE the cops!). But you know what? He would LOVE ROOT. He'd look at these little guys and go 'that's a great idea! Why didn't I think of that!'. And kakashi and rin are just. watching. burnt out. codependent. trying to rummage enough brain and/or will power to voice that this is like. maybe not great.

'Why is itachi collapsed in a place like this'. Gonna make me cry. Even when he's taking revenge for the uchiha (never himself. Everything he does is always for someone else), even when he's finished a goal he's spent damn near a decade pursuing, one of his first thoughts is discomfort with where his brother died. Reminds me of the panels earlier in Naruto where Sasuke implies that he has to kill itachi not just out of revenge, but fraternal piety. Thats still his brother. That brotherhood still means something to Sasuke, even if he kind of hates himself for it. He does this all, in order, for his clan, for his brother, and for himself at a DISTANT third. But itachi as he is now isn't his brother. His brother died the night the monster that took its place killed the rest of the uchiha. Cognitive dissonance for the AGES

After much consideration, I actually don't ascribe to trans Levi. I feel like Mirio is a pointed enough character writer to have it come up. literally at all. And as far as moonscorched symbolism goes, I like it more as Levi's fear of dehumanization/emasculanization (same thing in the military. esp cause he deserted! Like a coward! or a WOMAN!) and also just like. His stunted emotional growth an inability to imagine a future for himself yadda yadda I can talk about levi jordan FOREVER. my little guy…..

sometimes you see a take and just. shake your head a little. yes kishimoto is a bad writer but NOT in that way yes kishimoto is a good writer but NOT in THAT way. whatever.
