Once again I’m just astonished to see how little Tonky stans use their braincells. I’m sorry, but clearly there hasn’t been put much thought into any of these points. 

First of all. DO Y’ALL EVEN KNOW WHAT A COMPROMISE IS?? BECAUSE CLEARLY YOU DON’T.

A Compromise is: an agreement or settlement of a dispute that is reached by each side making concessions.

All of these points completely give Tony his way, and Steve has to give up everything he ever argued for. THAT’S NOT A COMPROMISE.

1. So basically, you HAVE to do this or you HAVE to do it later anyway?? How is that a compromise?? Steve doesn’t have to sign that document if he doesn’t want to, and he RESIGNED. 

2. The UN is just as bad as HYDRA. Watch the Incredible Hulk and you’ll see that all Ross wanted was to make more super soldiers and wanted to kidnap/kill Bruce Banner to use his DNA. Ross used Bruce’s DNA to create the abomination, and Harlem got trashed. The government is corrupt as fuck in the MCU. Really bad idea to sign over to that.

3. “I just want Steve on the team”, bitch no, Tony just wanted to be right. He used emotional manipulation (RDJ CONFIRMED THIS) to get Steve to sign, making absolute false promises that he couldn’t keep (that Bucky would be taken care of was utter and complete bullshit).

4. Why does Wanda have to be in prison?? And what Tony and Vision did was holding her against her will, they have no right to do that. It’s a prison. She’s being held without her consent, and isn’t even allowed to go to the supermarket. That shit’s a big red flag if you don’t even trust a friend/teammate enough to make her own decision. 

5. LIES. LIIIEEEESSS. LIIIIIIEEEEEEEEESSSS. Tony couldn’t promise Steve that, those were utter and complete lies because T’Challa got the pass to take Bucky to his country and essentially murder him from the UN. Tony couldn’t promise Steve SHIT, and he lied directly to Steve’s face about it because he KNEW it was Steve’s weakspot. Disgusting. Even if Steve signed Bucky would have been taken away, and there would have been NOTHING he could do about it. 

6. “For show”?? FOR SHOW?? HELLO, do you even know how signing a contract works?? That’s shit’s BINDING. Once you sign you’re STUCK to it. If Steve signed, there was no way he could have changed ANYTHING, or gotten out of it. Once you sign a contract you’re legally bound to it, so there’s no ‘sorting things out later’ because the UN already got what they wanted and could do anything they wanted and Steve wouldn’t have been allowed to object. That’s common contract knowledge!

7. How?? Is?? That?? A?? Compromise?? Bucky was innocent all along! Whoop! It wasn’t like Steve had been saying that the whole time!! And told you at the airport!! But you turned your back and thought your own ego was more important!! Not to mention Zemo was right there but you would rather kill two veterans of WW2 about something that happened over 20 years ago while you knew the man could not be held accountable because he was tortured over 70 years!!

We hate him because he’s a selfish war-profiteer who makes fun of people’s traumas, calls them hurtful nicknames, pokes fun at very serious things, makes rape jokes, makes a transphobic joke, is a sexist, shoots his repulsors in a room full of people, he’s a dick to everyone around him, steal’s other people’s work and gets all the credit for it, shows very aggressive behavior towards other people (”I hate you” “I want to punch you in your perfect teeth”) for literally no reason at all, he’s emotionally manipulative (RDJ confirmed this so jot it down), he drags a 14 year old into a fight he doesn’t belong in, he lies to his teammates, he built a murder bot and then later said it was a good idea even when many people died, he then built another bot, he accuses Steve of things he had no control over whatsoever, that stupid ‘You weren’t there’ speech that made no sense, his gross comments about someone’s aunt while he’s getting married in the same movie, and the fact he has not apologized for anything ever. 

That does sound like something a Tony stan would come up with in some twisted defense of their fave by trying to absolve him of any kind of fault he might have.

Tony Stark has faced similar hardships to Magneto and they're both mama's boys who lashed out in anger.

I almost threw up just writing that.

And there are many many more that I sadly can't remember off the top of my head, but I'm sure if I browsed through my anti Tony tag, I'd find them again.

This is the type of shit that honestly makes me question my own intelligence bc for a second I thought this was plausible but then I said “nah I’ve just seen way too many tony stans say shit like this so many times to the point where it’s melding into my brain fhjdsgghf” (idek what I’m sayin, still sleepy currently)

Tony who turned around and tried to beat Steve and his friend to death when he was the one feeling betrayed by Steve. As if he hasn’t betrayed Steve multiple times now. And as if Steve hasn’t let it slide everytime without trying to murder him for it.

Honestly, I wasn’t going to say anything, but I am so sick of this particular argument that I rather feel the need to put it out there.

This argument tries to make it seem like Steve is aware of the full situation surrounding the Starks’ deaths and is intentionally keeping it a secret from Tony throughout Civil War.This is simply not true.

The only clue that Steve was given was Zola’s statement that “accidents happen” and a brief picture of the newspaper article about the Starks’ deaths among a montage of other disasters and deaths. Here’s the clip for those who forgot/haven’t seen Winter Soldier.

And this scrap of vague information was given to him right before he was blown up by a missile and nearly killed again.

This was a minor detail when compared to the enormous reveal that was “SHIELD has been HYDRA all along” and that three helicarriers with advanced targeting systems were about to be launched to kill 2 billion people. So it honestly wouldn’t surprise me at all if he simply forgot.

There was a lot of other, bigger stuff going on, and in the grand scheme of things the fact that HYDRA may have arranged or been involved with the car crash that killed Howard and Maria was incredibly insignificant.

Additionally, the end of Captain America: The Winter Soldier had Natasha and Steve leak all of HYDRA and SHIELD’s stored files to the world.

Tony was free to look through these at any time between then and Civil War. This includes the entirety of Age of Ultron, as well as Iron Man 3.

(Tony also hacked into the SHIELD databank in the original Avengers movie, so he had plenty of time to look through the recesses of their files if he wanted.)

Did Tony simply just never bother to sort through any of the data he got himself access to?

But no, clearly it’s got to be Steve’s fault for not remembering to tell Tony that he had reason to suspect HYDRA involvement with the death of his parents almost three decades ago.

(It’s not like Tony very vocally dislikes his father or anything.)

So Tony purposefully lying to Thor to get the scepter for his personal project and going behind his team’s back to create the Triskelion 2.0, to which Steve responds with some light but serious comments about not telling important information to his teammates…is somehow on par with (or worse than) Steve not mentioning that he suspected HYDRA was involved with the death of Tony’s parents, to which Tony responded by repeatedly attempting to kill Bucky - a man he knew had no agency in the situation - and Steve - for trying to stop him.
