HOLY FUCK! We can’t believe it either. Can it be? Tonedeff’s long-awaited second LP Polymer IS FINALLY HERE!!! Written, produced and performed by the polymath himself, Polymer is a multi-part genre-shattering emotional epic three years in the making. “Use Me” is the first visual released from Tonedeff’s forthcoming second album, Polymer, which will be released on July 8, 2016. Directed by Norway’s Daniel McStay (who was responsible for “Water” by Peter Anthony Red), “Use Me” features intricate shadow puppets, a Fincher-esque atmosphere and rope work with a free-fall drop that had to be reset multiple times to get the shot.

After a lengthy release gap between his first album Archetype and Polymer, Tonedeff felt a need to address the clamor for more material.  In an interview with HipHopDX (be sure to rate/comment and show your support!), Tonedeff recalls:

“There is some truth to this song being written as a love letter to those who feel entitled to my output,” he shares. “The fan-artist relationship in 2016 is at a point where people forget there’s an actual person at the other end of the song and not a vending machine. So when I say ‘Chew Me Up & Spit Me Out” it resonates on a personal level.”

When asked about the significance of the nooses tied around his body, Tonedeff explains, “There’s a masochistic partnership in allowing yourself to be used – whether it’s a conscious decision or not. But in regards to love, coworkers, even with corporations and government, we’re constantly giving up control in order to get the tiniest bit of joy out of life. I felt the double entendre of marionettes and self sacrifice really worked for the video.”

QUINTIC’s Lucy Camp continues to make waves with her futuristic feminist hip hop aesthetic (“Sixteen” has already garnered over 57k plays on YouTube). “Be You” is the second single released from her debut EP, Down Talk.

Produced by AJ Rice, “Be You” is a veritable clash of the titans, as Lucy tosses her magnificent flow into an aviation-grade turbine alongside labelmate Fjer (who’s new single “Her Turn” is making the rounds on Soundcloud) and QN5’s very own Tonedeff as he preps for the release of his Polymer album. The result is a silky blend of ethereal soundscapes, airy vocals and hyper-kinetic flows along a river of 808s. Don’t miss out on this one and be sure to tell a friend you love it.

In 2014, Denmark’s triple-threat singer/songwriter/producer Fjer was draped in old-timey housemaid attire and performing a conceptual stage show in support of her criminally slept-on second EP, Beautiful Home. Since then she’s been steadily working on her upcoming untitled debut album, but now she’s back with a brand new look and a brand new one-off single to whet your appetites for some Scandinavian-style electro-soul.

“Her Turn” was written by Fjer and relinquishes control of production for the first time to the capable ears of Lennart Rasmussen (formerly of Kill J). The song’s steely futuristic production serves as the perfect sound bed for Fjer’s sultry vocals dealing with the dual themes of embittered lovers and the fickle nature of the public eye. With limited opportunities for female artists, the question of “I know that it’s her turn, when will it be mine?” is a strong one. Is this a love song? Is it social commentary? QN5 head honcho Tonedeff has spent the past three years at the helm of his most ambitious project yet: a four-part voltron-like project of independent EPs that combine to form his second official studio album, Polymer, which will be released worldwide on 7.1.16. on QN5 Music.

Lots of details have been revealed during his 1-hour Facebook Livestream and subsequent Periscope follow-up, including a completely revamped version of “Sunrise” from Glutton that will be called “Sunrise v2” on the final tracklist. Are there other “v2s” on the album? We’ll find out soon.

Among other notes, Tone revealed an in-studio clip from the forthcoming documentary, artwork reveals for the exclusive Polymorph vinyl and Phantom packages and even a snippet of the song “Five Sisters – which he called his “next single”. He’s also shot multiple music videos that will begin to drop in a couple of weeks. It’s all too much! There’s so much to keep track of, but we’ll be sure to keep you posted as the days drive forward to July 1st. We’re amped as hell, and you should be too. It’s finally coming!

She’s the future. With her video for “Sixteen” currently cruising at just over 33K views in less than a month, 18-year-old Lucy Camp officially bursts onto the scene debut EP, Down Talk, which is now available over at @ Bandcamp.

This 5-track gut punch runs the gamut from darkwave to grime and serves up a healthy portion of juicy sub-bass, ethereal synths, gorgeous vocal samples provided by GrandRiggty & AJ Rice as well as the insanely intricate poetry courtesy of the San Jose artist herself. The sole feature on the project, “Be You”, features QUINTIC label-mate Fjer that was so dope I had to hop on it myself. It’s a stellar debut that will have you deeply excited for what’s next.
