We’ll most likely never know for sure. But if I had to guess something regarding the studio screwed him over and got him upset about it. Lionsgate was the one who called the movie “unreleaseable” after all and made them reshoot the entire thing two years later and they were the ones who constantly delayed the movie for four whole years. I don’t blame him for having a bitter taste in his mouth if that’s the case.
