location: regis hairstylists ( starcourt mall )
closed starter for: thomas hagan ( @tomhagansβ )
Β Β Β Β the brunette-haired female usually kept her personal feelings to herself, as to not burden anyone else with them β it was a fact that no one cared. seeing thomas hagan entering the establishment, she smiled. Β Β Β Β β welcome to regis hairstylists! β sabrina was not a hawkins native. in fact, in peopleβs eyes, she was still sort of new. it was october. in a few weeks, she wouldβve been in hawkins for one full year. she went to high school in new york. that means that she missed how certain people were in high school, namely steve, jason, and this boy right here. she heard he wasnβt exactly the best person in the world. in fact, she heard that all three of them were assholes around school. age can change you, so she hoped he was a much different person than he was back in the day. β what can we do for you, today? βΒ
tommy prided himself on being kind of damn nosey. he didnβt do gossip and stuff like other people, he just liked knowing who was who in town. new and old. so it surprised him a bit when he walked into the hair salon to find someone he recognized but couldnβt put a name to. his eyes narrowed a bit trying to place her as he walked up, his politeness being turned on. βjust trying to tame the shag. itβs getting too 70s hippie for me.β he flashed a quick smile, running a hand through his hair.Β βcan you do that for me...?β he held the sentence there, waiting to see if she filled it in with her name.Β
open !Β where: bradleyβs big buy supermarket !Β
itβs a slow day, and theyβve gotten an open box of cinnamon toast crunch open. theyβve been trying to flick one into their mouth for the past twenty minutes but have been pretty much getting sugar all over their face. they sigh, leaning back looking at who they could bother and seeing someone walking by. they smile, and say,Β βi have a proposition,β they dig their hands into the cereal box,Β βif you can catch this with your mouth no hands iβll give you the box for free,β granted, shiv had eaten half of it already, it was already unpaid for, but details.Β βseems like a pretty good deal to me considering the prices went up.β bradleyβs big buy supermarket would always have ridiculous prices, it doubled since the earthquake but people loved their branded foods even if shiv found it a little ridiculous.Β
dragging his feet, tommy wanders with a bag of chips tucked under his arm. itβs classic for him, playing the role of the hopeless bachelor who doesnβt know how to cook much more than grilled cheese. heβs only a couple of steps out of the soda aisle when he spots shiv, accidentally making eye contact. of course that was a mistake. βyeah because I want a box full of your germs. itβs not even the best kind of cereal.β he rolls his eyes but with a distinct lack of malice as he balances some pop.Β βthey canβt fire you for putting your mitts all over the products?β
wcaringthinβ:
βThatβs true,β Drew acknowledges cheerfully, βBut it turns out Iβm amazing at hiding weed from the gym teacher, so I guess it all balances out, huh?β Itβs a shame the same canβt be said for his literal balance, because he hasnβt got a hope in hell of stopping himself from falling into Tommy when the shelf gives out, and it takes all of a second for him to accept that heβs going to end up dumped on the ground with a bruised ass. It certainly wouldnβt be the first time!
Thatβs why itβs such a surprise when the impact never comes, when instead he feels Tommyβs hands arriving at his waist in a bid to steady him. Interesting. Drewβs so busy thinking about this unexpected turn of events that he doesnβt immediately register that the door has slammed shut beneath the combined weight of their bodies, and that that might potentially be a problem. Frankly, heβs just glad to have made it out of this relatively unscathed - you gotta take the wins wherever you can get them.
He doesnβt dignify the question with a response, because the answer is obviously βyeahβ. Drewβs problem has always been failing to think things all the way through, which is why he so often finds himself getting into scrapes. βRelax, man, itβs just a shelf - Iβll fix it.β At the mention of the lock, Drew turns around so heβs facing Tommy, not bothering to remove the other manβs hands or even step away as he reaches past him for the door handle. He jiggles it experimentally, but Tommyβs right - it wonβt budge. βHuh. Welp, I hate to say it, but I think we might be stuck.β
Tommy doesnβt have time to think about where his hands are or the proximity of their bodies when his mind is on his keys, a good twenty feet away from them in his gym bag. The singular time in the recent past where he hasnβt had them on him when heβs been in the gym. It feels like the universe was pointing the finger and laughing at him. βIβll just fix it. Are you stupid?β The bad side of Tommy rears its ugly head and he tries to bite it back but his temper is a bitch. The only thing that briefly stops it, is when Drew moves -- facing him straight on. Drewβs leg pushes against his own and nope, this isnβt happening.Β
βMight be stuck?!β Tommyβs voice instantly raises, out of his control. βWe canβt be fucking stuck in here. Thereβs no way.β Everything he said about taking care of his precious closet goes out the window and he briefly thinks about undoing the hinges than risk being stuck in there with Drew for however long.Β βNo oneβs going to be back in here until the morning. At least tell me you learned how to pick a lock or something.β In all of this, Tommy really should have moved. He should have tried the door, put some space between them but he hadnβt yet.Β
wcaringthinβ:
βMan, if I only gave my opinions when people asked for them, Iβd never get to say anything,β Drews says mournfully, setting the toe of his boot against the bottom shelf and preparing to make his ascent. The wooden plank creaks a little under his weight, but itβs fine, heβs about sixty percent sure itβll hold long enough for him to get what he came for, and in Drewβs book those are excellent odds. He peers down at Tommy through the gap between his arm and his body, eyes twinkling with mischief. It is a little funny. βRelax, Iβve done this loads of times. Give me just a second, and Iβll be out of your hair.β
In spite of Tommyβs protests, Drew steps up to the next shelf, which creaks even worse than the first. He doesnβt pay it any mind this time, though, distracted by both the pursuit of his prize and this conversation. βWell, yeah, itβs the best hiding spot in the whole school,β he says, matter of fact. βIβve had stuff hidden here since January. Remember I was a janitor for like a month and a half? Wild.β
Sticking out his tongue in concentration, Drew stretches as far as he can go, making a triumphant sound when his fingers finally close around something cold and metal. His joy is short-lived, however, because at this moment the shelf heβs standing on breaks and he loses his balance, falling back to earth (and Tommy) with a surprised yelp. βShit!β
βIβve done this loads of times.β Thereβs this little twinge in those words that makes Tommy fully regret walking into this room. He can smell the trouble coming from a mile away but heβs frozen there, like someone about to watch a car crash and unable to look away from it. βYeah, worst time of my life in fact because youβre shit at cleaning up anything.β He bites back and without thinking really, his arms brace themselves at his side as if heβs waiting for the evident accident. Itβs borderline ironic that in a matter of seconds, the crash truly becomes literal.Β
On the second creak, Tommy is stepping closer (completely to save his closetβs shelving and not Drewβs dumbass) and his instincts donβt fail him too much when his arms come out to catch the other man on his quick descent downward. Drewβs whole body falls on top of Tommyβs and the abruptness causes him to stumble until his back hits the door, forcing it closed under his back. All the wind is knocked out of him, his mind focused on where his hands have landed as he holds Drew up by the waist. He tries to snap out of it quickly though, Tommyβs face scrunching up in annoyance.Β βAre you a fucking idiot?! My closet. The closet...β He slowly comes to a realization, his eyes peering back toward the door.Β βThe lock...fuck.β

@wcaringthinββ - jeff
after everything, tommy was actually mindlessly enjoying himself for once. he was eating candy apples in his boxer shorts, pretending that hawkins was just like it was years ago -- when he still someone moderately important. holding a cider in one hand, tommy was distracted by the going ons that he walks straight into someoneβs back, the drink lightly spilling over his knuckles and just a bit on the otherβs jacket. a few seconds and heβs registering who exactly he bumped into. βdo they pay you to stand in the way, jefferson?β tommy canβt help the bit of venom that laces his words. he should hold back, he knows better but when it comes to the hellfire guys, it comes out easily and idiotically.Β
demoslayersβ:
Β Β Β Β Β Β βi think you should just go ahead and do it anyway, as if iβd give a damn.β steve took in a deep breath and shrugged his shoulders. what was there really to say in a time like this? he had already gone and made it awkward by bringing attention to his faults and weaknesses, it was a surprise that tommy was still lingering around.Β βi guess you could say that but for some reason iβm thinking otherwise, i have some odd feeling that i should of just kept my mouth shut and nodded my head. save myself trouble and all that.β looking over at tommy he nodded slowly.Β βperhaps all the bounce back is bounced outta me now.β
pausing the conversation, tommy stepped out of the room for a moment and found the nearest source of food he could. he swiped a few jell-o cups off a tray and set them down in front of steve, one eyebrow raised. βto hold you over, alright?β he sighed, aware that he didnβt have to linger and yet still wasnβt leaving. βtrouble of what? people finding out that youβre not indestructible? I donβt think theΒ βgrin and bear itβ stuff is gonna work out like you think.β like it or not, tommy used to look up to steve in a way. the guy always knew what to do and if he was lost, then what about people with half the resolve? βif all this is getting to you, I guess this means the rest of us donβt stand a chance.β
wcaringthinβ:
βOkay, tough guy, you can handle it,β Drew replies with a chuckle, βBut, yβknow, just because you can, doesnβt mean you should.β As he steps out of Tommyβs personal space, he canβt help but notice the way the other man avoids his gaze, the firm cast of his jaw, and he wonders if heβs starting to push his luck. Itβs exceptionally easy to get under Tommyβs skin, even if it isnβt necessarily Drewβs intentionβ¦ though it is fun to tease him. βYou shouldnβt say it like that, my brain is interpreting it as a challenge, and Iβm real determined.β
Tommy calling him βchucklesβ only makes his smile wider. His cheeks are starting to hurt! βI told you, coach, Iβm very serious about my scholarship,β Drew says blithely, scratching the back of his head as he surveys the shelves. Now that theyβre in here, heβs realising that all closets look kind of alike, and heβs all turned around. βFunny, I couldβve sworn it was this oneβ¦ I remember it being bigger, did it used to be bigger? And there was a shelf that had all these- aha!β As he turns, he spots the shelf of old baseball mitts heβd been expecting, partially concealed by the open door. His stash should be hidden on top of the unit. βWell, I guess now youβre gonna see my climbing skills in action, huh?β
βThe only part thatβs challenging is me having to listen to your opinions when no one asked.β Tommy bites back because he canβt imagine Drew of all people, ever getting one over on him. There was only one top dog here and it was Tommy. βItβs the same as - what are you doing exactly?β His voice rises in pitch the more annoyed he gets and heβs watching Drewβs every move, just waiting for him to do something stupid. And right on time, he does just that. He thinks Drew is maybe just fucking with him but then the dumbass actually tries climbing his shelves, the ones he worked really hard on getting cleaned. His teeth grind dangerously in his mouth and he stands just behind Drewβs -- well the other manβs ass, having to look at the back of his ankles while maintaining his anger. βRight okay, Mclaughlin. Get down, itβs not funny.βΒ
Without actually touching him, Tommy stands just behind him with his arms out because as much as he might laugh if Drew fell - he doesnβt need that kind of blood on his hands or his gym floor.Β βDid you hide some shit in the gym closet? Are you serious right now?βΒ
upsidedownismβ:
tommy and jason used to be friends once upon a time. even if jason didnβt completely agree with everything that tommy had said. they were friends once. and for some goddamn reason jason still cares for him. that was the hard part with jason, his inability to let people go.Β βi came here to see if chrissy was here but i saw you so here i am.β he shrugs. he sighs, watching the nurse wrap his arm.Β βdo you need a ride home?β
βyeah, βcourse you did.β tommy knew about jasonβs whole deal the last year, just as much as anyone else and while tommy was in the ring because he just wanted to see some freaks fry, he always understood that jason had other motives for his anger. he sympathized, of course he did even if didnβt vocalize it to his friend in the ways he should have. too little, too late maybe.Β βhey, donβt worry about it. Iβll walk. Still got two good feet.β he shrugged, jaw set.Β βYou doing okay?β

Itβs not really a surprise to find Tommy suddenly standing in his path - he doesnβt strike Drew as the type to just chill and let stuff go. βThat blows,β he replies with genuine sympathy. βI did mine once, I was climbing over a wall and obviously doing a shitty job, because I fell and landed on my whole hand.β It hadnβt been worth an expensive trip to the ER, so Shiv popped it back in for him, and it hurt like blue fuck. βShouldnβt you be, I donβt know, resting it?β
βYouβre right, I havenβt,β Drew acknowledges cheerfully, stepping into Tommyβs space with the confidence of a man who rarely thinks things through. βMaybe itβs for your own good, huh? Wouldnβt want to get you in any trouble, would I?β That said, he takes the opportunity to sidestep the obstacle in his path, and continue forward towards his prize.
Drew doesnβt get far before he turns back, his smile too broad for any attempt at nonchalance when he notices Tommy is trailing after him. βI guess youβre gonna find out on your own if you keep following me - though someone did tell me super recently that stalking is illegal, soβ¦β Continuing to walk backwards, Drewβs back meets the half-open closet door, and he pushes his way inside, still grinning like a cheshire cat.
βYou? Uncoordinated? Never would have guessed.β Tommy sneers, already wanting Drew out of his sight. βIβm fine. I think I can handle it.β And he prepared himself to save more only for Drew to walk into his space, so close that Tommy can smell him. Their proximity makes it almost difficult for Tommy to focus and he casts his eyes down at his sneakers, jaw set when he speaks. βI doubt you could get me in any trouble. I have authority around here.βΒ
His teeth grind together when Drew all about brushes him off and he turns to keep following, almost running right into his heels. βSo funny, chuckles but this is still my gym so I have a right to know what youβre doing in it.β The annoyance is at an all time high, so much so that TommyΒ blindly follows Drew into the closet without a second thought. Itβs a typical school storage closet, rows of equipment lining the walls, a few stray sports balls in haphazard bins. Nothing crazy. βWhat? You want to play ball now?β
wcaringthinβ:
For a moment, Drewβs eyes are riveted to the expanse of skin that appears from beneath the hem of Tommyβs shirt - really, itβs insane that some people are just out in the world, living totally normal lives while also being so unbelievably hot. Kudos to the Hagans and their immaculate gene pool. βI did hear something about that, now that you mention it. If I see any stalkers, Iβll be sure to let them know,β he answers, lifting his gaze to meet Tommyβs for just a moment before he peels away from the doorframe, stepping to the gym proper.
Heβs noticed that the sports storage closet is unlocked, which seems like a prime opportunity to investigate the whereabouts of his old stash. Sometimes when God opens a door, he also opens another, different door, or something. ββState my businessβ, what, did you become a cop since the last time I saw you? βCause if you did, you legally have to tell me,β Drew teases, decidedly not closing his mouth as he makes a beeline towards the open door. βWhat happened to your hand?β
Tommy rolls his eyes so hard, heβs surprised he doesnβt dislocated something in his eye socket to match his hand. Thereβs just this little nagging part of Drew that knows how to find its way under Tommyβs skin and he hasnβt figured out how to rid himself of it yet, though not from lack of trying. Wiping his hand on his shirt, Tommy watches Drew carefully, his eyes raking over the other slowly as if suspicious of him.Β
βDislocated my finger.β He mutters bluntly, taking a couple of long strides to intercept drewβs path. It might not have been school hours but this was still his gym, his equipment, his responsibility and having a guy like Drew just hanging around didnβt bode well for him.Β βYou still havenβt told me what the hell youβre doing here if youβre not stalking me.β He asked while he still followed the other, arms crossed over his chest.Β
demoslayersβ:
Β Β Β Β Β Β βand yet you still havenβt snuck something in for me yet, shame on you tommy boy,β letting out a chuckle steve took in a deep breath and gave them a tight smile.Β βhonestly tommy i wish i was messing with you,β and that was the honest truth. steve deeply wished he could look at him and say surprise or something. that this was all a joke so that it wasnβt really happening but he couldnβt.Β βwell this is the first time iβve really seen anyone about it, if it hadnβt of been for my concussion i probably wouldnβt of said shit.β reaching up steve rubbed his tired eyes and let out a deep sigh.Β βiβm sure there are things i can do to help but nothingβs helped so far. itβs not everything but there are a few blanks here and there,β pausing he looked up at the ceiling,Β βitβs exhausting sometimes.β
βmaybe I want to make sure youβre good before I go around stealing.β tommy let out a breath, half trying to keep things light while also knowing that this was serious. steve was always the big man on campus, someone who stood levels above tommy and it was strange to see him like this. defeated, maybe. βmaybe itβs one of those blessing in disguise things, you know? got knocked around and now you get some help for that brain of yours.β he walked forward against until he was at the foot of steveβs bed, leaning to rest his palms on the railing at the end of it. βyeah. yeah, I donβt blame you. itβs always one thing after another, huh? but Iβve never known you not to bounce back.β

Β Β Β all nancy could do was sigh. heavily. she had seen the damage done from the wind and the vehicles left on the road, but it was oddly convenient they only landed around the station. β neither did i, not with how sudden it came. β she didnβt want to lean in to anything that made the storm seem out of the ordinary, not when tommy couldβve been so close to it from his friendships with steve and billy. β windows shattered in from the winds at the library, knocked over a few massive shelves. most made it out okay, but thereβs nothing hawkins canβt eventually heal from. β did nancy really believe that ? maybe after vecna when hawkins was finally becoming one again. but now, she wasnβt so sure. β i think people are just curious as to what everyone else did during the storm. i canβt blame them.Β βΒ a beat. β howβd the injury happen ? β she asked, pulling her notepad out.
tommy knew there was more going on then people were letting on. everyone wanted to pretend it was normal or just a freak storm and yet, that didnβt sit right in tommyβs stomach. maybe it was just a curse and if tommy knew anything about nancy wheeler, she wasnβt the type to assume everything was fine without explanation.Β βbrand new library and it gets wrecked in a couple of hours. itβs crazy.β he shrugged, fingers tugging on the bandage of his other hand mindlessly. βyou trying to interview me, wheeler?β tommy chuckled. βI tried to get out. I thought I found an opening and just ended up getting knocked on my ass. nurse said itβs just dislocated, Iβll live.β
13. When do they fake a smile? How often?
all the time. too often, really. tommy doesn't have much in his life that truly brings him any joy but he can't let anyone see him falter. he puts on a smile most of the time, just to keep up appearances. he's not even sure if anyone remembers what a real smile of his looks like.

Itβs not like Drew makes a habit out of visiting the high school he failed to graduate from, but when heβd spotted Tommy Hagan heading inside after hours, heβd felt oddly compelled to follow. Itβs how he came to be here, leaning against the doorframe leading into the gym and watching the other man do his thing. Honestly, there are worse ways he could be spending his time.
βAm I too late for basketball try-outs, Coach?β Drew calls out after a few moments, alerting Tommy to his presence with a boyish grin, βIβve been working on my three-pointers all summer, and I think Iβve got a real shot at a scholarship.β
Tommy always came to the gym after hours to clear his head. The silence kept his thoughts in check and the familiar bounce of the ball gave him something to focus on other than the endless piles of shit surrounding Hawkins every day. He dribbled the ball with his one good hand, still managing to work up a sweat going up and down the court on his own. Tommy stops his movements when he hears a creak and then a voice, one that already gets his nerves going.Β
with a small groan, tommy lifts up his shirt to wipe the sweat from his eyes and he turns to face his new company.Β βanyone ever tell you that stalking is illegal in most places?β he mutters, dumping the ball back on a nearby rack.Β βso state your business or close your mouth if youβre gonna stand there and gawk.β
BED (tommy/drew)
BED :Β for both muses to wake in the same bed, naked or fully clothed.
waking up with a jolt, tommy yelped when he felt a body next to his in his bed. his eyes took a moment to adjust and the second he saw drew's bare torso, he covered his eyes like some kind of blushing teenager. "Jesus Christ, you scared me. asshole." he muttered, his cheeks blushing a fiery red that he hoped wasn't noticeable. he didn't even want to think of what happened or didn't happen, his head already forming some kind of gay panic. "can you just -- get the hell out? I swear to god, Drew. I'll kick your ass if you even breathe on me right now."
