shin ends up figuring out he's gay after a conversation with minato about sexuality and then quickly professes his love for minato who turns him down, shin then continues to pursue minato, trying to convince him to just wait for him to be of age, shin is incredibly insistant on this despite minatos continued advice that when he first came out he pursued an older man (his teacher) and deeply regretted it

shin absolutely refuses to take no for an answer, continuing to put minato in a really difficult position. he really wants to be there for shin, he wants to be the gay role model he never got to have when he was a kid, he wants to be a safe space for shin so he never pushes him away, however shin continues to take advantage of minato's passive attitude and keeps making advances

but this is all completely missing out as well that the whole reason the pair ever speak in the first place is because minato finds shin incredibly attractive, even after finding out he's a minor minato monologues about how handsome he is and calling him a "cutie". even in their conversation where he comes out to shin he's the one to make the topic sexual around someone he knows to be underaged

i really really wanted to like this series, im going to continue to play catchup with it for now but the dynamic between shin and minato is just insanely inappropriate and honestly! i dont want them to get together!!! at all!!! their relationship is so consistently uncomfortable that im really finding it hard to root for either of them

i wanted it to explore more about the ways in which young queer folk have to make do with the community they can find in small towns and how it can sometimes lead to situations where theyr forced into adult spaces and have no choice but to make themselves more adult just to not be alone, and how adult queers in these communities have to work so hard to look out for the young ones while also having to force these walls between them and how that can be really sad and hard to do sometimes.

it doesnt do any of that, instead the author is more interested in this taboo will they/wont they between a 30 year old loner and a horny 17 year old and like!!!! fine!!!!!! maybe thats all it is and its not for me! but it just sucks so much that its only really going that way for the sake of having a risky age gap instead of both doing that AND having a point worth making

its a bummer going to this from yanisuu which has this lovely slowburn romance between 2 adults who are being so gentle and careful around eachother because of their (21 year!!) age gap which mostly goes unspoken because deep down they both know their feelings for eachother are atypical (and a little inappropriate depending on who u ask) and they dont want to ruin the really lovely friendship theyve formed

minato's laundromat has no patience in developing the relationship. "wait for me" is shin's plea to minato but it never goes into why he should or why hes suddenly so attracted to minato in the first place or why minato puts up with what is acknowledged to be a deeply inappropriate arrangement, things just kinda happen and it doesnt let anything stew

i wanted so badly for it to say something but im 4 volumes in and its not said anything yet, ive just been fed adult/minor yaoi drama for 17 chapters and all i can think rn is that minato is a huge loser and shin needs to just get online and find some gay friends his age on twitter or smth bc these guys cant keep it in their pants and minatos gnna end up on a register
