Damn what’s that one sci-fi kinetic novel that I played over a decade ago called? It’s basically about a scientist dude waking up with amnesia to a disturbingly dystopian world, and through exploration he gradually discovers that the horrifying situation he has found himself in is the result of his own doing. And the reason everything was crazy was his plan to preserve his wife and daughter’s consciousness in a computer that went terribly awry but that he refused to give up on due to his own stubborn selfishness having made him apathetic to the suffering his creation caused?
It was fully black and white and the illustrations were primarily solid lines. I’d love to experience it again if anyone remembers what it is. If it helps, I downloaded it from itch.io.
Another game with a similar vibe I’d like to find again is something I played probably within the last five years (it was also on itch.io but I think it was available to play on browser) that was primarily text based with related puzzle games interspersed in between journal entries. The text was green with a black background and the puzzles also had a black background and only used white red and green in extremely simple geometric figures and shapes.
The story basically revolves around a scientist who discovers a novel fungus, that through research, he learns has the ability to eat away at mammalian nervous system structures and replace them with its own structures over time without killing the host.
