Tokki/Iseul

A slightly nerdy explanation of my concept inserted at the very bottom in case anyone’s interested: I chose spades for the southern wilds due to it being a suit associated with death, and so I thought portraying the danger of the south to be fitting. The King is the Voodo Manbo, who has a foot in both the wilds and human civilization (along with the spirit realm). She’s cutting the neck of a chicken, mid-ritual. The Queen is the Florida Panther, or the cougar or mountain lion. She bites the neck of a pheasant trapped between her jaws, showcasing the danger of the animal wildlife and the pheasant bleeds golden ichor, symbolizing that she is even more powerful than the gods. The Jack, which I originally intended to be the Ace (and still might make it so), is a conjoined pair of lamb twins that symbolize the nature of religion that runs deep through the south. The white lamb is showered in the light of the lord and the black lamb is only graced by a few stray rays. The lamb’s existence is ephemeral and fragile, much like the perverse nature of the twisted word of god in southern society. … and on a lighter note, the numbered cards are gators in the water!
