                ᴛʜᴇ ᴄᴏɪɴ ɪs ᴛʜᴇʀᴇ  ,  ɢᴏɴᴇ ᴛʜᴇ ɴᴇxᴛ sᴇᴄᴏɴᴅ  ,  ᴀɴᴅ ɪᴋᴋɪ’s    jaw slackens,  just a touch.  his expression blinks into one of befuddlement,  brows scrunching the same moment a single eye squints,  like that would explain where it’s gone!  he feels like a child,  bested by an adult,  and in the same breath it excites him,  it angers him.  he has to restrain himself from closing the distance and searching adachi’s person.

              —❛   where’d.   where did it go.  ❜  tone falls into a flat sort of wonderment,  but eyes are just about pinpricks,  sweeping over his company again and again.

          ALL  SHARP  EDGES ,  ALL  TOO PLEASED ,  ADACHI  GRINS .    is  that  all  it  takes  to  bring  the  leader  of  the  phantom  thieves  to  a  stuttering  stop ?   a  little  flick  of  the  wrist ,   a  little  sleight  of   hand ,  to  make  him  pause  and  wonder  in  such  a  way  that  adachi  could  spring  a  REAL  SURPRISE  on  him  if  he  wanted .   adachi  snaps  his  fingers .  the  coin  — -  as  if  by  magic  — -   appears  in  his  other  hand .   

Oh great, of course she’d run in to h i m. Not that she’d known him very well in the first place, but of all the people she could run in to at this point in time, when she was already tense and on edge; well, let’s just say she couldn’t see this ending well. Her reputation, as it was right now, couldn’t handle another scandal, and at the moment, that was all she could see coming from this chance meeting.

     “ Oh? I’d ask what you’ve heard but I’ve probably           heard about it and much worse at this point. “

“A potential suspect?” The intern echoed, thankful the detective entrusted her with such sensitive information. She believed herself to be the lowest down the ‘chain’ so to speak, but Inaba PD really wasn’t as big as the officers at the academy presented it to be. Still, Miu was grateful. She didn’t want to say it was exciting, but she’d be lying if this whole situation made her feel like she was getting some real work done. “Of course..!” This was her first big murder case as a young cop– she knew she couldn’t fumble around with this. “What did you find, Adachi-san? Something unexpected?!”

              adachi’s being lazy again  .  ikki shouldn’t be surprised  ,  the majority of the time he’s known him  ,  it’s been like this  .  he’s used coming to leblanc as an excuse to not go to the station before  -  and more than once  ,  ikki has woken up to him turning off his alarm in the early mornings  .  he’s lonely just as much as he’s lame  ,  but it kind of makes ikki pity him in the same breath  .  must suck to not have any friends his own age  -  if one could even call them friends  .

          ❝   I  AIM  TO  PLEASE — -  !  ❞      in  this  case ,  at  the  very  least .  rapt  attention  is  something  he   STRIVES   to  obtain ,  and  if  ikki  is  going  to  offer  it  over  easily ,  adachi  will  do  his  part  to  keep  it .  by  taking  a  coin  out  of  his  pocket ,  he  digs  his  claws  in .  by  flashing  it  in  the  light  and  allowing  ikki  to  see  one  step  of  the  process ,  he  sinks  his  teeth  in .  his  own  flash  in  a  crooked  grin .

          PITIFUL .  PITIFUL .   WHAT  A  JOKE .   he  could  gnash  his  teeth  together .  he  could  bare  them  and  tell  ikki  to  MIND  HIS  MANNERS .  there’s  nothing  in  their  agreement  that  states  ikki  needs  to  concern  himself  past  pleasantries .  there’s  nothing  saying  adachi  wants  him  to  be  nosy ,  to  dig  his  way  in  with   self - proclaimed   good  intentions  .     (  he’d  rather  ikki  laugh  in  his  face .  )
