the things i've seen people say are shocking and honestly very worrying. george admitted to touching caiti. he specifically said he did "under the shirt touching" and that he "moved [his] hand up" and that he won't give more detail than that "out of respect for caiti". where did you think his hand was going when he said it "moved up"? even if you didn't want to think that was the implication when he said it, caiti's statement today confirms that's exactly what george meant. it's not surprising when someone who went through and is obviously still processing a traumatic event, especially while intoxicated, "changes [her] story constantly" considering fear and embarrassment and the memory lapses that often come with trauma. this was traumatic for her, regardless of whether or not you personally would be traumatized by it. it was traumatic for her, regardless of whether or not you believe her. and it was traumatic for her, regardless of george's intentions. you don't even need to trust caiti specifically since george himself admitted to touching her with the vague implication of groping her chest. george will not grow and learn as a person if every time he fucks up his fans just rush to coddle him and tell him he only did an oopsie, and that we forgive him. if you want to wait and see if george admits to it in clear terms then that's fine. just please try to detach even a little bit and ask yourself if your judgment and desire for everyone to "just move on" is clouded by your affection for george, and if the rhetoric you're sharing may be unintentionally harmful to others. i just want us all to be more mindful of this.
