Non-celiac gluten sensitivity (NCGS) is a syndrome diagnosed in patients with symptoms that respond to removal of gluten from the diet, afte
This is a targeted message: just try eliminating gluten for a bit if you have some kind of psychotic disorder.

notable case feature: this patient had no notable test results for anything, negative for wheat IgE etc, they had to confirm the diagnosis with an actual rice flour vs wheat flour test. this is a case no normal doctor would even tolerate the suggestion of, much less try to confirm.
just to be clear before tumblr does what tumblr does and accuses us of claiming every mental illness is caused by food allergy: that's not what we're saying. we're saying evidence has been piling up for decades that allergies can, for some patients, either be the entire trigger for neurological and psychological illness, or a contributor, and suspecting and testing food and environmental allergens should just be a standard part of psychiatric diagnostics and treatment
Someone asked me a while ago if I still had a photo of the worst sink I had ever seen while apartment hunting in Los Angeles. I assumed I deleted it so I didn't answer the ask and now it's gone, but as it turns out, yes, I do still have a photo of it.

if you had the money/time/resources to bring your OC’s story to life, what medium would you choose?
a book/book series
a comic book/graphic novel
a webcomic
a tv show/cartoon
a movie
a play/musical
an album
a video game
I don’t have any original characters
ok, managed to get back to the thing i liked and drafted before without a ton of change. though the tone of it is gonna change a bit bc this is a totally different context. anyway i'm at like 6k words of sketch, maybe like 8 chapters - idk how i'm gonna break em all up yet. lots of work to do still for sure

we cannot be saying shit like "is funk a genre?" my fellow white babies. we simply cannot be
what in the
one time in a discord server someone asked me if “soul” was a fake genre spotify made up
this is so fucking bad for 40 notes in. fuck us all
right about now
the ??? ??? brother
check it out now
the liminal goblincore brother
uhhhhhhhhhhh funk and soul literally are mainstream genres? Parliament? Funkadelic? James Brown? Otis Redding? Sly & the Family Stone? Curtis Mayfield? Aretha Franklin? Quite literally scores of the most critically beloved and commercially successful songs and artists of all time? implying funk/soul are somehow "obscure" is just proving OP's point
every single person needs to stop coming on this post saying "OmG how WEIRD! how have they--" it's racism. stop pretending you don't know that this post is about antiblack racism and the way that it makes nonblack people (and, let's be real, this is tumblr — white people) ignore, discount, forget, disqualify, and belittle black art, black culture, and black excellence. stop pretending you don't know this. every single person who this post is about has seen a movie that uses a soul or funk song in its soundtrack, or an advertisement, or has heard one of the many extremely famous and beloved soul or funk songs that are played on the radio, or has heard people use the phrases and expressions which have entered the american lexicon, or been popularized, through the media of soul or funk music. what is being identified and pointed to here is the way that antiblack racism is expressed through people's failure to recognize, identify, legitimate, or "remember" black cultural contributions no matter how good they are or how ubiquitous they may become. this post is just as applicable, as well, to hip-hop and disco and ska and all the other black musical forms which most white people studiously ignore in every case where the culture has not already been stolen and sanitized and stripped of its black character on their behalf and for their enjoyment. it also is no coincidence that two of the genres which white people have had the hardest time replicating, bleaching, bottling, and selling — and which they are therefore obligated by their racism to ignore rather than to lay claim to as has so often been done with rock, disco, ska, and hip-hop — are "soul" and "funk," words that describe not just musical styles but also certain aesthetic styles and outlooks and personal qualities that are just as black in their origin as the music is. a person can have soul, people say, or be funky, but these too are words and ideas and concepts that originate from and refer to black culture. what i am pointing to is the staggering and willful blind spot that so many of my fellow honkies have for black people and black culture, art, and music. stop making it worse by pretending you think i'm talking about people who are wackily forgetful
beware, traveler: there is POWERFUL crackery at work in the notes. we must be cautious

we're at the "looking at erowid" stage of drafting/researching
Hello friends we need to talk about this twitter account:
You might know him from a thread where he was getting wowed by free appetisers in a Mexican restaurant.
Firstly: He is doing a bit pretending to be a wandering samurai. It's a joke and his posts are all made up. This is very obvious if you actually look at his account and website:
He does purport to be Japanese but based on some of the other content he posts there's reason to believe he's British.
Which brings me to my second point: his Samurai content is interspersed with posts like this:
And this:
He is not cute or funny. Stop platforming him.
The chips and salsa thread went viral in June and his website seems to have gone live in July. This confirms what I suspected which is that said website with it's explicit disclaimers was made in response to the big viral hit.
Consequently, back when he first blew up it was potentially a bit harder to figure out that his stories are fictional. That said, the New York Times worked it out so I'm comfortable accusing outlets who ran the story describing him as a Japanese world cup tourist of legitimately terrible journalism.
Regarding some comments in the notes:
Yeah this is also the guy from the truck thread going around. That's what prompted this post and in retrospect I should have said so explicitly.
He claims he just uses AI to translate his posts from Japanese. He also says the art on his website isn't AI generated. I think he is full of shit on both counts.
I only gave a couple of examples but even on a brief look through his twitter it was apparent that he posts a LOT about UK politics to the point where he's quite patently British. He is a Restore supporter which is a party that split away from mainstream far right party Reform due to feeling they weren't right wing enough.
It might not surprise you to hear he does not seem to know shit about Japan? Both the salsa story and the truck story failed the smell test for people who are familiar with Japan. There's also a story about going to a potluck where he seemingly couldn't come up with a single Japanese dish for the character to cook??
Yeah his whole bit is racist and it is troubling that so many people took a guy badly roleplaying as a medieval samurai to be a 21st century Japanese tourist.
a historical fiction writing question i am pondering is how much explanation one should include for things. i know that generally you shouldn't explain a joke, but when your joke is based on the knowledge of a 1910s IWW figure idk how much you can assume the audience will infer lol. i am definitely not explaining the Imre reference, everyone can google that and learn more about the history of gay fiction. but pretending a historical figure who has no photographs/depictions available might be matt's type maybe needs a little explanation for why
