I don't know who needs to hear this, but do not ever, ever, ever let someone guilt you into not transitioning. "But you're so pretty! You'll ruin your lovely body!" "But you're my [son/daughter/boyfriend/girlfriend/mom/dad/etc.]; I can't see you any other way!" "But we need more [badass butch lesbians/women in STEM/etc.] to show women that they can do anything!" "But we need good men like you to promote healthy masculinity!" <- None of these are reasons not to transition. Transition is for you, not for others. Other peoples' indignation or sadness over your transition is not your burden to bear, and other peoples' expectations for you are not moral obligations you must fulfill. Do not live to fit inside a prescribed role in somebody else's life. You must live for yourself. Please transition.
the term "romanticising" did more harm than good because why am i seeing people being told they're romanticising a wrongdoing by merely disclosing that they had been affected by it. for example on any ig post talking about unhealthy age gaps, there will be women recounting that one time they were 14 with a 26yo boyfriend in the comments and then the replies to these women will be people screaming "that's not something to be fucking proud of emilyβΌοΈπ‘π€¬", whole time someone is trying to share something terrible that happened to them, it's madness, this ever present notion of "romanticising" just gave us a woke way of shutting people up when we're uncomfortable with the topic or self-conscious about not being the person most deserving of sympathy in the room, and my god are we using that excuse

I will always press "not interested in" or flat out ignore the 'before vs after' photos of a person who's ungrateful to/disrespects their past self for looking the way they used to, rather than thanking them for all the hard work they did. on a smaller scale, like I said, it disrespects that person. on a larger scale, it's fucking heartbreaking to imagine anybody who resembles the poster's 'before' photos feeling badly toward themselves because they can see how other people think of people who look like them. lookism fucking sucks
