obviously not the implication here but with how the panel is framed i really like the concept of iruma kun where we've been seeing it from a demon pov so they all look like normal people but if we look at it from iruma's own pov it's like a saya no uta style terrifying meat horror world.
i think it could be a fascinating twist on the story to reconsider everything too: these demons Are genuinely terrifying and horrific from his pov, but iruma grows to love them regardless and finds them beautiful in spite of said horror. demons are beautiful because they strive for their ambitions, and in that sense they'd be the inspiration for the boy whose never held an ambition of his own.
Hey fandom? This. This is what we need to do with the fanart for Iruma. I don’t want comfy blorbos, I want Jinji Ito grade nightmare fuel. I want to Krampus every Demon that Iruma’s grown close to.
I want Biblically Accurate Many-Ears, I was Clara to be chaos incarnate, in a Lovecraftian way, not a meme gremlin way.
The teacher as an actual Ceribus, (his egg form can stay), Az can be a literal fire monstrosity.
Pop the lid on this fannon and run for the fucking hills.

He has half of one, or rather a very incomplete one.
Full breakdown below.
Act 1: He looses the suit and sees his life as being over. “Mecha Man’s dead, I’m not sure if my survival or death matters all that much.” And “The family tradition is dying in that suit.”
Mecha Man is the only value Robert Robertson has, without it, he’s nothing and might as well die. If Mecha Man dies he should be there in that suit dying with it.
Act 2: Robert’s given hope, he’s given purpose through the SDN role, and he’s looking towards the future. But in that future are uncertainties. “Do you think you could do it? Kill Shroud?” Is Mecha Man’s first act back on the hero scene one of ultimate justice? Murder? There’s also the implied question, will Robert stick around SDN? Will he go it alone once more?
The crux of it comes with the failed test in episode 6. “I don’t want to die in that suit.” “I can help a lot more people by training up the Z-team.”
He begins to look beyond Mecha Man…..for 30 seconds before Malevola comes portaling through his door.
And as for act theee? The big point to bring it all home?
….
….
It’s not there.
At the most we have Robert looking at the Mecha Man suit before climbing in and some of Robert’s dialogue in the tail end of episode 8 about “not knowing what he’s doing but just trying his best every day.” Maybe some of the dialogue with Royd. But for the most part, he takes a back seat to the Z-team and however things shake out with Courtney.
Killing Shroud was a personal Robert act, not in the suit and visage of Mecha Man. We don’t know the answers to the questions asked in Act 1/2. Does Robert Robertson believe that he matters outside of Mecha Man? Is he going to get back in the Mech? Stay with the team? Something in between?
Which is a shame, because there’s so much potential here. (I’d say a quarter of a million words worth of potential here more or less 😉) There’s the wider implications of Robert being a Role model to the entire team and his choice regarding shroud being an act of heroism that he instills in the Z-team. Are mentors people who stay with you, side by side until you’re ready or do they continue your own journey?
Does he still see his eventual future as dying in the suit? Or can he live outside of his family’s legacy? And is that a good thing?
I truely believe the plot and character arc failures of paper people are do to its convoluted history, so I don’t fault the creators, but looking at the whole of Dispatch shows how great snappy dialogue and strong vibes don’t make up for deficiencies in story.
From the author of The Magic of Terry Pratchett, the Locus Award-winning first biography of Sir Terry, Marc Burrows new book, The Terry Pratchett Reader’s Guide, will get a launch at the upcoming Discworld Convention before its general release on 30th August, a guide that Itakes Pratchett seriously as a literary figure without taking the fun out of him.

Static was WILDLY popular in Brazil (a country where the population is over 50% black) and we had re-runs for YEARS on open television. Everyone who was a kid in the 2000s knew and loved him. As a result, every single Brazilian Con has a LOT of static cosplayers!
So, a couple of years ago, Comic Con Experience (the biggest con in Brazil, which is actually also the biggest con in the world!) invited one of Static’s creator Denys Cowan as one of the guests of honor.
Now. Thousands of people attend his panel. And cosplayers went NUTS because they could show their Static cosplay to the creator himself! What none of us expected was Debts Cowan’s reaction:
He cried on stage.
He had never seen Static cosplayers - especially not so many of them! And he had no idea the show was popular here! No one ever told him his character was so beloved! Years and years of reruns and he had no idea! He obviously created the character with his experiences and his community (Black North Americans) in mind. Still, he accidentally touched a whole other community of black people who could see themselves on the screen as a superhero!
Anyway he is a lovely person and one of the best, most memorable guests we had. And I think this is a nice reminder that your art might touch people you can’t even imagine would when creating it.
Edit: I said “the creator” when i should’ve said “one of the creators”, its edited now, but while he isnt the one who came to brazil it’s important to say Dwayne McDuffie was another important figure to static shock!! Both are black men who paved the way in comic book history! Thank you @sokumotanaka for pointing it out.
Hi im a librarian amd that's not now this works. If a library allows you to have a digital card and not live in the area, you are NOT taking away resources from other people, that's not how anything works. Please keep doing it!!! The more people that use our services, the more money we can get from funding sources!!! Please use us!!! We are not utilized enough, by people in or out of our community. Thanks.
I know Kaylin was likely in on it, but she was so convincingly uncomfortable I’m now obsessed with the idea that working for dropout means you could be game changered at any time just like the cast
Where someone hides a speaker in the break room with Sam’s intro or changes a monitor background to the Game Changer title and you have everyone suddenly looking over their shoulder to see if Sam’s wearing a suit or not.
people who comment on fics just to say that they are re-reading and still cried/felt emotions/loved it are the greatest people on earth and should be given a thousand dollars.
addition: people who comment on fics to say that they are not even in this fandom and didn’t know the characters at all but read it anyway and loved it are also the greatest people on earth and should also be given a thousand dollars.

This is the reveal of this ridiculousness during their game
The new Avatar series officially makes the Avatar Setting a DND campaign. Kicking off an apoplectic spirit revolution to completely change the name of the game is what Dungeon Masters do when they got tired of last campaigns factions but they don’t want to remake their world maps.
Tumblr is basically the only place I can do this kind of tiny Fandom detail, so I'm gonna do it. So, idk what the Fandom's opinion on this is, but I think Beatrice actually did love Donut and didn't want to sell her but was being forced to by her god-awful piece of garbage mother. The mother who was so misandrist that she viewed even boy cats as sperm donors to be used and thrown away. That was so toxic she couldn't understand that Bea actually did love Carl. Who very obviously was constantly manipulating her daughter and pressuring her to use and discard animals. Who named all of the cats after food items because she didn't want to have to think of actual names for them (also there's a lot of symbolism there with them being items that she consumes instead of living things.). I think Carl's arguing with Bea made it infinitely harder for her to give up Donut, although to an extent that's a good thing. But I think Bea was caught between her manipulative, abusive, controlling mother and her kind boyfriend who was insisting they keep the cat they both loved. But Carl never admitted he loved or even liked or wanted Donut until he and Bea broke up so his argument didn't carry enough weight.
I'm not trying to say that Bea was a good person, because she wasn't. She cheated on Carl and probably would have given Donut away in the end, no matter how much it hurt. But look at her song:
"Good girl, good girl, you're a good girl, my princess.
You're like a root beer float. Oh yes, oh yes.
I'd take it all back and never let you win. I wouldn't do it all over again.
I love you. I love you. I'm sorry, my princess.
All eyes on me.
All eyes on me."
It's so...sad. And fucked up. Bea loves Donut, she says so and calls her a good girl as a term of endearment, and she's saying she'd never have made her a show cat if she'd known it meant her mother would force her to sell Donut. She's telling her cat she wishes they could both just be free. All of the shows are what Bea's MOTHER wanted, not what Bea wanted. Bea wanted to sing to her and dance with her and cuddle with her cat. Then when everything happens she thinks Donut is dead and it *breaks* her. She treats Ferdinand like he's Donut just because she knows him and he has a vague connection to Donut. She just cries about her cat. This is what it would have been like for her if she'd given Donut away, but worse, because the guilt of knowing that she was going to sell Donut but she thinks Donut has died...it is crushing her. Look at how she changes the lyrics to the song:
"Good boy, good boy, you’re a good boy, Ferdinand. You’re no Gravy Boat. Oh no, oh no. I’d take it all back and let you in. I’d do it all over again. I’m sorry. I’m sorry. I’m sorry, Ferdinand. I should have let you in.”
She's calling him by Donut's name for him (I don't remember how she knows it.), and then expressing regret that she didn't let him in when Donut was in heat. That she didn't just give Donut what she wanted out of love. She'd do it again. She'd not show and would let Donut have the little family she wanted. It's so goddamned sad...and that's why I think Beatrice actually did love Donut, and that Donut's angry speech after the show makes this little bit of the story a true tragedy.
I think also zooming out, I know the fandom likes to hate on Bea for cheating on Carl but when Carl breaks up with her, she immediately comes back to try and fix it. Shes in a panic and it annoys whats his face because of how distraught she is.
That and her words to her mother and the small hints of Carl being emotionally distant and dealing with nightmares from his childhood paint a picture of a household of broken people whose baggage fit together, not in a healthy way but in a comforting way.
My guess is in the next book Eris or someone’s going to reveal that Bea’s been watching the show since she entered the inner systems and now has context and time to process what Carl and Donut had gone through.

a lot of people dont care about insect biomass collapse bc when they hear we are losing 2.5% of the insect biomass per year they just imagine the cockroach and housefly population decreasing by that much. they dont realize those are among the only ones that will remain unbothered
every year of restoring native plants I see a great increase in the insect populations, and loads of new insects i never saw before (all of them harmless--the insects that are harmful or parasitic on humans are the main ones being unaffected by the decrease in insect populations)
(a large part of) the problem is Plant Sameness. we must restore plant diversity
Folks, I have a very small urban yard. In my front yard I have made 2 changes that changed everything.
1) the part if the yard that I was not ready to convert to flower bed yet: scattered micro clover over the grass. That’s it. I needed about 1 lb to cover … probably 3-400 sq ft and I probably over did it. Look, get a pound of clover, scatter. Done. If it’s not enough clover for your tastes, get more next spring.
2) I planted salt/drought hardy plants next to the road (Minnesota). I add 1-3 per year as needed. But one of those planting years was 6-7 wild strawberries evenly spaced. They filled in the spare space the very next season. But they fill in, so don’t plant if you don’t enjoy cutting back.
3) i used my weed whacker to cut down a wide swath of grass (2-3ft x 12) and planted native prairie mix (.5-1lb). This is expensive stuff. Thus the small initial planting. But they self seed. So they are slowly starting to take over the grass/clover mix.
I went from no bugs to bug party in 1 growing season. I have spent less than $200 and only that much because I am a plant nerd and have bought other things that are natives that I have since moved to other parts of the yard.
Not kidding. BUG PARTY!!
These are mostly bumble bees, they’re my favorite and they are sloooow lol so easier to photograph with my old phone, but trust me, so many insect friends in this yard and I love it.
