travelers  are  able  to  access  timelines  through  any  regular  doorway  they  need  only  be  in  possession  of  their  traveling  token  before  they  step  through 

tokens  are  objects  directly  tied  to  a  major  splintering  of  a  timeline  .   in  rose’s  case  her  token  is  the  heart  of  the  ocean  diamond  and  though  it’s  not  a  clockwork  object  if  one  put’s  their  ear  to  stone  they  may  hear   a  faint  ticking  sound  

tokens  cannot  be  used  by  those  who  were  not  originally present  at  the  event  which  created  them  (  ex.  a  survivor  of  mount  vesuvius’  eruption  would  not  be  able  to  use  rose’s  token  and  vice  versa  but  another  titanic  survivor  could  ,  in  theory  ,  use  hers  )

all  travelers  are  members  of  the  secret  aevum  society  which  hosts  infrequent  meetings  for  those  in  possession  of  tokens  .   they  discuss  fixed  points  in  timeline  and  future  splinters  and  how  to  mitigate  the  potential  influx  of  new  travelers  .  they  act  as  informal  time  law-enforcement  and  high-ranking  members  of  the  aevum  council  are  not  exactly  well-liked  among  travelers  as  a  whole
