“Oh, ye of little faith. I can do all of those things, no problem.” The dog let out a small bark as if in agreement with her. She chuckled softly and scratched him behind the ear. “See, I knew you’d come around.”

“You always did have a way with words, Lexi. And Lord help the man that dare say no to you.” He’s only teasing, of course, soft chuckle falling from his lips when the dog barked. “What are you going to name him?”

“The more the merrier.”

“Perfect! Ugh, I’m so excited for this. It’s been so long since I had a night out with my girl friends and, frankly, we all could use it.”

“Excellent.” An eager giggle slipped from her lips as she motioned for Elena to follow her. Their target couldn’t be too far, probably in the living room, snoozing. 

GLADLY       ,          elena    nodded    once    in   equally     eager    agreement    before    following    lexi’s   lead.       finding    stefan    in    the    living    room    whilst    fending    off    a    stream    of    giggles       &        awaiting    further    instructions.         carefully    watching    the    sleeping    vampire    for    any    sudden    movements

Lexi furrowed her brows as she cradled the pup in her arms. “Oooh, Stefan Salvatore, I am not irresponsible.” She stuck her tongue out playfully before petting the dog. “Come on, he’s so cute! We could name him Lucky.”

“And you know how much responsibility a dog is, right? Grooming him, walking him, feeding him.” Always the worry wart, Stefan. He let out a soft sigh and shook his head, reaching out to pet the dog. “He is kind of cute.”

“Lexi, as much as I adore having you around… you come up with some pretty insane ideas. A pet dog? You’re one of the most irresponsible people I know. And I mean that in the best way possible.”

“Just a hunch, that’s all.” It was totally because she noticed Caroline getting bigger but she decided to lie just to spare her feelings. Upsetting her was the last thing she wanted to, especially when she was all hormonal and emotional, more so than usual. “Soo…” The blonde tried to think of a topic change to make her more comfortable but was at a loss for once. “Have you seen that shitty new romcom? It looks hilarious but in a I’m laughing at how bad it is kinda way.”

“okay.” caroline said, not really buying what lexi had said. but still, she decided to drop it, she could always ask again some other time. preferably when she wasn’t the textbook definition of a emotional rollercoaster. damn pregnancy hormones; she thought to herself and sighed. caroline looked up at lexi when the other decided to change the subject to something a little less awkward. and it worked. instantly, the younger blonde grinned and nodded. “i did!” she answered. “oh come on, everyone knows that’s the best type of romcoms.”

There was eighties rock music playing loudly over the speakers. She had a bottle of beer in her hand as she approached him before popping the cap off with her thumb and poured two glasses. “Come on, you know you want to.” A smirk spread over her lips as she took a sip from her glass. If anyone was into a night of cheesy eighties rock ballads, beer, and pool, it was Lexi.

He took the glass from her and drank, but it tasted almost like water. He was in a sour mood, though he was trying to shake it for her sake. He’d felt unsteady the last couple of years and he knew this was her way of trying to fix it. His last encounter with Damon, however, had left a bitter taste in his mouth. “Do I?” he asked, eyebrows raised. “You know I don’t really play.” He did, but it was his excuse not to do things he wasn’t enthusiastic about in the moment. Which she knew, of course. Worth a shot anyway.
