Hello! I'm Tayr (or Tailu~). This is my devblog where I talk about my horror/dark fantasy games! Currently I'm working on The Ash Black Cat and the Pumpkin Knight.
[12/15/23 I published my first complete game, Every thought flies, a light horror about a ritual game and a lot of candles~]
Thank you so much for the visit!

[I'm working with RPG Maker MZ now~]
One stormy afternoon, Gioele decides to play a ritual japanese game, The Gathering of 100 Supernatural Tales. It's a relatively simple game to play, after all; it requires 100 candles, a lot of matches, and willing storytellers with a fervid imagination - telling 100 weird stories in a row is not an easy task! At the end of the last tale, something strange is bound to happen...
And what better storytellers than Felix, Noelia and Abele?
So, the game show you the last four tales. Strange, weird, supernatural stories... also, somewhat painful memories. They claim their stories are all true; will you believe them?
Maybe, inside this tales there is something more worrying than the possible ghost apparition at the end of the game...
Every thought flies it's an anthology of creepy tales using as a frame the japanese game Hyaku Monogatari Kaidankai.
It's not a really scary game, it's more like a cozy horror.
Features:
🕯️ 4 different cozy horror tales
🕯️ Atmospheric sound design (No RTP!)
🕯️ Sardinian folklore in the first tale
🕯️ Queer characters!
🕯️ Multiple endings for each story AND for the game
🕯️ For now, 3 CGs (planning to add more).
🕯️ 1h/1h30 of playtime
My first complete project! So happy right now-
This is the "chapter 0" of The Ash Black Cat series, but it works fine as a standalone game. Have fun!

Hello! July has begun, so here's a little update... well, not so little! I finally made the talksprites/busts for Felix (actually, he has two set with different clothes. I made both!). Aaand he looks blond, but that should be light brown (someday I'll set on a specific color). This time around he has nine different expressions (while in the original demo he had four and in Every Thought Flies only three!). A lot more emotions, this time.
I probably should work on Noelia next, so I can update their bios...
By the way, do you like the new font? This is the first time I've tried something different! (Even though I actually like the default font of RPG Maker... ops. But I thought this game would look better with something else).
Second devlog coming soon!
To the next time ☆
(Note: the game will be available both in italian and english at release).
I need to make a new devlog/postmortem on Itch io about the update of Every Thought Flies, so I made a new illustration as thanks for everyone who played it!
Welcome to the first official devlog for The Ash Black Cat and the Pumpkin Knight! It'll be a little long because it's the first one and because I'm trying to sound professional. (?!)
This game is the second chapter of my The Ash Black Cat saga. A few months after Every Thought Flies, one day in late October, this is what happens.
Felix, who was busy with his fantastic part-time job at the graveyard, suddenly finds himself locked in. Which is very strange, considering he has the keys.
Oh, my bad, they're gone too.
Trying to catch a mischievous cat that's running away with his belongings, he ends up finding a bottomless pit…
Work on this game (officially) began in late February 2026, and I'm developing it on RPG Maker MZ.
Useful background information before reading: this game is halfway between horror and dark fantasy.
It will revisit some scenes from the demo/prototype The ash black cat and the happy ogre (but extensively revised for the occasion) and then become something completely different. The story/game will unfold across nine different areas (an initial area, a sort of antechamber, and seven actual levels).
As usual when it comes to me, I love to write, so the dialogues and cutscenes will be long! It's not a visual novel yet, but it's close. (Still, there are plenty of puzzles and things to do. I tried to keep a good balance between the parts.) The protagonists are Felix, Noelia and a new character I'll introduce here. Abele and Gioele are mentioned occasionally, however.
The graveyard where everything began (still need to find a name)
Story
I'd say this part is almost complete! The story is already largely decided. I have two very long and detailed files about the lore, summaries of each area, and all the parts I want to emphasize. For example, not only is the ending planned right now, but also the post-credits scene and the bonus room.
We're actually in the writing phase. The first area is complete, and I've already written some of the later scenes (the key moments, so to speak).
It's taking me a little longer than usual because I'm writing as I create the game, rather than waiting until it's finished and writing everything at once. I don't know, since it's a bit longer and more detailed than Every Thought Flies, I'm more comfortable this way. (It helps me follow the story's pacing.)
There's only one thing up in the air for now: should I add multiple endings? The true ending is pretty much settled, but I'm still unsure whether to add bad endings and a normal ending. I usually only add them if I feel like there's an opportunity and if they give me a chance to delve deeper into certain parts of the story. I also want bad endings to be useful to the player in some way, so that accidentally stumbling upon them isn't too frustrating. (And also because I don't like adding things just for the sake of it.) For now, it doesn't seem like there's a real possibility, but…
Maps
The first tree areas are complete, I have the tilesets ready for the next two, and I had already made some maps that will be used in the final part. Especially the first area (the initial graveyard) is currently at a final release level of polish and detail. The second area (an underground river) is almost there. I'm just a little hesitant about the fourth area: I have a certain plan in mind (open rooms supported by columns, mirrors, crystals, reflective floors, etc.), but I'm not sure if I can replicate that vibe. I'll definitely try. (And I'll be pissed if I don't succeed and have to change the plan, lol.)
[HELLO
HOW ARE YOU
I know you don't want to celebrate, but it's your 18° birthday and the thought that you are spending it at work makes me sad! Everything's fine, I hope?]
Gameplay
The first three areas are perfectly playable! Right now, it takes me about 20 minutes to play through the entire game. Which is worrying, since I know what I'm supposed to do by heart. I think it's already 40 or 50 minutes of gameplay total. (It's going to be a biiit long…)
If you're wondering, the gameplay is similar to Noelia's and Abele's chapters in Every Thought Flies, but I want to give each area a slightly different feel, so some might be a little weirder.
Since I wanted to overdo this time, I'm also adding some tiny Easter eggs and achievements (no more than two per area).
Currently, I've started working on the gameplay for the fourth area, the glass palace. Actually, pretty much all the areas are planned; there's just one (the sixth?) where I want to do a certain thing, but I'm not exactly sure how to get there with the gameplay. Let's say I'd like to create a kind of lupus in fabula.
General graphics
Uh… the sore part…
In theory, the situation isn't that bad: I made the title screen and a customized menu (which I'm absolutely happy with, it's so cozy. It should appeal to autumn fans. You know, those who start celebrating Halloween in July…). We have the sprites of Felix and Noelia (the same one they had in the demo of The Ash Black Cat and the Happy Ogre, but we've updated them a bit. And I'm not speaking in the royal plural, my friend makes the sprites. x°). The third character, Pumpkin, is a work in progress for now (but it's turning out adorable).
The only problem is that I've decided that later in the game Felix will have a change of clothes, so we need to make another sprite for him as well.
The talk sprites/busts… the only complete set, at the moment, is Mr. Pumpkin's. But I can't show you that because spoiler. Noelia's one is in progress, and I haven't even started Feli's yet. Help. (I mean, I drew it on paper, but it's not digital yet.)
I have some CGs in mind, but I haven't done any.
In this devlog, I want to be completely honest. I love drawing, but for now, coloring digitally is a lovely pain in the ass. I'll try to speed up my process in the future.
Not 100% sure about the logo, but I like how the title screen turned out! (And the lantern swings!)
Music and sound effects
Choosing the music is one of my favorite parts! So I already have my fair share of songs for this game. It was a bit difficult to find one I liked for the title screen, but it finally appeared. I also recovered some of my favorite songs from the original demo, but I used them a little differently. I hope it will be a pleasant surprise for those who played it back then.
For now, I can't afford to commission original soundtracks from a musician, so you'll find free-to-use songs in this game. But I can assure you that they've all been chosen with the utmost care and, hopefully, they're not soundtracks you've already heard in other RPGs.
(Just for the record: these are all songs written by real people and have been on the internet or my PC since before 2023, so I'm sure of their origins. I've always been a serial hoarder of useful materials.)
In the future, I'd like to have at least the original title screen, though!
Random stuff
I still have to find an achievement plugin that I'm happy with. Also unsure whether to include a CG gallery. I always think it's nice when there's one, but maybe it'd be a bit excessive here.
Last things
The game will be free. Since I'm doing it on MZ this time, in addition to the Windows version, the browser, Mac, and Linux versions will also be available right away. ^^
Once released, I'd like to make a databook or something similar, but we'll talk about that later!
(I'll definitely make one for Every Thought Flies in the future, though).
You can also follow me on bluesky for more random updates!
The next devlogs will be a little more casual and scattered, I think, since they'll present the progress of the work as it happens.
See you next time!
PS: Despite the evocative title of the post, Abele is actually the character associated with Alice in Wonderland (and I might make a game about that in the future). The scene of Felix and Noelia falling down the pit is, in all honesty, more inspired by Bad End Night! ^^ (I'm talking specifically about Ever Lasting Night).
PPS: if you liked the school setting from The ash black cat and happy ogre, worry not! I have planned another game for the future ("planned", well, it's half ready… cough) where we are going back to explore the school. But with a new story and a couple of new characters.
Hello~ I wrote the first devlog for Pumpkin Knight, but I need to translate it. Meanwhile I'll try to make constant updates! Just noticed today is saturday, so... A new screenshot! This black spaces are little bridges (safe rooms?) between the other areas. Also, some lore here and there!
Anya is live and ready to show you everything. Watch her strip, dance, and perform exclusive shows just for you. Interact in real-time and make your fantasies come true.

Hello there!
So sorry for the long absence, there are several reasons (mental health, RL interesting situations…) but here I am! And I resumed my work on RPG Maker. Finally, I'm developing my second game! The official title will be The ash black cat and the pumpkin knight, and I changed quite a few things from the demo version (before, it was called The ash black cat and the happy ogre). That version, now, is something more akin to a prototype.
The story still revolves around the "birthday curse" and all the bizarre things that happen when you're haunted by bad luck. Felix and Noelia are the main characters, but a third member will join the party later (for now, we'll call him Pumpkin).
This time around we're exploring a graveyard. And what lies underneath. I hope you'll follow us in this journey through the Underworld (and its many facets). If you've been wondering what Felix's chapter in Every Thought Flies was hiding, well… it's time to find out.
As a side note, I moved on RPG Maker MZ! (But I still love VX Ace, maybe I'll work on smaller projects there from time to time.)
A last thing: this game took place some months after Every Thought Flies (march/october). We'll talk about Abele and Gioele, but they officially appear only at the end.
Next time I'll post an actual devlog! Meanwhile, here a couple of maps from the first two areas.
To the next time!
Sooo... I'm alive! And still working on The ash black cat! But the title changed. And various other things, like the RPG Maker (I upgraded to MZ now). I'll post a proper devlog pretty soon!
This pride month, here is a reminder to the younger queer people out there or anyone who apparently needs the refresher:
Games that depict transphobia and homophobia realistically are not bad.
Games that refuse to pull punches when dealing with triggering material are not inherently bad.
My name is Robin. I am nonbinary, 32, game dev sensitivity reader and script editor for multiple titles, but today we're talking about one dear to my heart:
What is it I can't remember?
Mare is an RPGMaker Horror game about trauma.
It is covered in trigger warnings and tells you each of them extensively. On the game page, when you start. And in the read me.
Horror games about trauma will depict trauma. Feels self explanatory, no?
Well, last night, someone went across my sister's social media pages, telling her to die, because she depicted transphobia in the game.
Some major spoilers, but they'll be brief.
At the climax of the game, the Pov shifts to show that the events of the game transpired due to a suicide attempt by a transwoman named Chiyo.
In this brief gameplay segment, you have the option to interact with her PC where you can see online hate she has received, one of which is "a tranny is still a tranny".
This segment was co-written by myself and fully vetted and approved unanimously by all of us, a team composing of multiple queer and trans individuals. We are all horror fans and the realistic depiction of our struggles and the abuse we face was cathartic, but as a result, we also made it clear to not interact with the game if you could not handle heavy subject matter.
This was, ironically, the tamest version of the scene I suggested but the best one, I believe.
I should note, this scene is five hours in. After multiple child deaths, suicides, abuse, etc.
But someone came to my sister, @zmakesgames and told her she should die for including a Trans main character and portraying that they deal with transphobia.
This is not okay.
If you don’t find this type of media cathartic, that's okay, but you don't have the right to police those of use who do, especially when it's coming from an ally inspired in part by listening to the struggles of her older sibling and friends and trying to help give them a voice.
If you can not handle triggering content in your media, do not engage with media that contains those triggers, but it is never, ever acceptable to stalk or tell a dev to kill themselves because you willingly engaged with media you knew would be harmful to yourself.
If you got through this, hi, @zmakesgames is the kindest person I know and all her games are a flavor of rainbow because she is also a lesbian. Please support your queer game devs this June and all year.
Never talked to her personally, but she seems a genuinely sweet person, and I always liked her games. (Here, have a look! )
Please, try to remind that often artists use horror as an outlet for their struggles (or maybe painful experiences of loved ones). An artist shouldn't "justify" their stories, as long as trigger contents are properly listed (just like Mare).
We need stories with a realistical depiction of real life problems. We can't just ignore their existence.
I hope everyone can continue to work on their artistic projects and express their emotions without feeling the need to hold back, just "because someone might misunderstand."
Anya is live and ready to show you everything. Watch her strip, dance, and perform exclusive shows just for you. Interact in real-time and make your fantasies come true.

"POV: you are playing a dangerous ritual game with your friends, laughing and all. At a certain point something weird happens for real…"
[Every Thought Flies on Itch.io]
Hello!
Finally OBS is cooperating, so I can make this post: the first 5 minutes of Every Thought Flies! I tried my best to make the intro as atmospheric as possible, but also kinda… realistic… (I'm not a serious person.)
Each chapter have a different atmosphere, colors and mood! The classroom ambient/part was meant to be reminiscent of all those stories about urban legends and creepypastas.
Hyaku Monogatari Kaidankai, the game I used as a narrative frame, has a very fascinating history, it was one of the old methods of passing down horror stories and it survived from 1600 till now! Maybe I'll do a little post about it in the future, it's pretty interesting.
Today I wanted to share some screens from my last game, Every Thought Flies (here! Here! It's complete!).
All the screens are from Noelia's chapter: a vacation, a beautiful (and somewhat eerie) lake, the tale of two friends... and a little bit of lovecraftian horror! ♥ In this chapter you'll met another character, Rosaura, Noelia's childhood friend. Totally unplanned, but I think she'll come back in The ash black cat and the happy ogre...
Also, this chapter it's vaguely Goosebumps inspired; I tried to give a similar vibe. Lately I was on a nostalgic mood and I re-read some of my favs (like Haunted School and Headless Ghost).
In the next days I'll be sharing some other things about Every Thought Flies!

My first complete project! So happy right now-
This is the "chapter 0" of The Ash Black Cat series, but it works fine as a standalone game. Have fun!
Yes, I'm alive - sorry for the lack of updates, but the last two weeks were a wild ride (let's say our landlady made us a really unpleasant surprise). Now that everything it's quiet again, I'm happy to say that Every thought flies it's officially finished, translation included.
I need a couple more days to make the Itch.io page and some finishing touches, but... we're almost here! My first complete game, I could cry-
Little reminder that Every thought flies it's a prequel to The ash black cat and the happy ogre, BUT it works as a standalone game. You'll meet the same characters in both games (even if Abele and Gioele get the spotlight in ETF, and The ash black cat is more focused on Felix and Noelia).
Once I published ETF, I plan to take a little break (I mean, my anxiety fueled brain needs a break). After that, I'll be back to revamping The ash black cat. Custom menu, revamped maps, a couple of new characters, more puzzles (and more horror). I'm pretty excited.
Thanks everyone for sticking around and welcome to the new followers! I'll give you something new to play soon!
I'm slowly preparing a lot of updates about both Every Thought Flies and The Ash Black Cat; in the meanwhile, one of my favourites map from ETF. The idea, here, was to recreate the vibe of a little country city in a eerie November morning. Do you like it?
There a lot of animation actually - flowers, clouds, water, I should make a gif...
(If you're wondering, in this chapter you play as Gioele).
Anya is live and ready to show you everything. Watch her strip, dance, and perform exclusive shows just for you. Interact in real-time and make your fantasies come true.

A little clip from the intro sequence of Every Thought Flies (alas Chapter 0 of The Ash Black Cat). I'm still working on the translation, don't worry; it will be both in italian and english.
Just a little sneak peek of the new talksprites (I tried a different style and I love how they turned out, especially Noelia. And finally you can see Abele properly).
The background noise, actually, is the sound of the rain (in game it's better, don't worry).
But... what is this all about?
One stormy afternoon Gioele, Abele, Felix and Noelia decided to play a japanese game, The Gathering of 100 Supernatural Stories...
... and I'll tell you more in the official announcement!
Today, 26/10, is Felix's birthday - a pretty important date, in the game's lore! (A lot of things will change, during that fateful night...)
So, a little drawing to celebrate! Please consider this post-game though, right now Feli would be too embarassed to wear a Halloween costume (even a simple one).
(Actually I'm a little late, in Italy it's already the 27th... shh)
So... happy birthday, Feli! One day, you'll be able to celebrate your birthday properly, I promise!
I wish you all a fun, spooky, marvelous Halloween!
