Color Magick and Correspondences
by Tiffany Faye, 8/10/2021
Everything on this big, green Earth has its own energy and vibrations, including colors, although colors can have numerous different meanings based on your own experiences and culture. It is so important to understand how the colors you use can influence and boost your magickal workings. Magick is personal to each practitioner so if you feel as if one color could fit your intentions better than some the intentions listed on a Correspondence Chart that you found online, then that color could be the better option.
Color magick and correspondences can be used in about everything, with Candle Magick being the most used way. From the clothing and decorations, you use, crystals and flowers, ribbons, and other objects, you can use colors in your everyday life to help influence the change you wish to bring about. An Explanation on Magickal Correspondences
By Tiffany Faye, 8/4/2021
When performing magickal workings, the use of items in association to your intentions and/or goals can help boost and focus the energy with which you are working. These items are called correspondences and can be just about any and everything. Most people have heard the term before and use magickal correspondences daily, but do you know how or why correspondences are chosen? Most correspondences come from practical associations and lore but can also come from your own individual experiences.
Herbal correspondences originate from The Doctrine of Signatures, which has been around since the Middle Ages. It is the process of examining a plant to learn how it can help heal you. The touch, taste, smell, and sometimes even sound of a plant will help determine their associations. For example, the scientific name of Lungwort, a plant with shape that are roughly in the shape of lungs, is Pulmonaria Officinalis. The plant has long been associated with healing the lungs, even before the adoption of either name. Correspondences for gemstones and other minerals, like metals, are determined much the same way as herbal correspondences, in addition to examining how the gemstone is formed and what it is formed of.
Correspondences have and will change overtime. They are based off our collective and individual understandings of the world we live in today, which was not the same a hundred, or even a thousand years ago. Correspondences can also vary from culture to culture. For example, green is commonly associated with money since the color of money from most countries is green. Not every country has green money though and if your nations currency is blue or red, you may find that those colors could also help draw money in.
When choosing correspondences for certain magickal workings, first determine the goal or intention you wish to achieve, like drawing in money, attracting new love, protection, healing, etc., and the method for your magickal workings, like a candle spell, ritual, spell jar, etc. After those are determined, choose the materials and tools to perform your magickal working that are associated with your desired intention. These can of course be from common or personal usage, but the correct usage definitely matters. Think of it this way, you would not ever use a black candle for love, or a yellow candle of banishment. Somethings just won't ever correspond with certain energies.
I hope this helped you understand the how’s and why’s of magickal correspondences. Over the next few weeks, our Teaching Tuesday and Thursday posts will be dedicated to the learning of specific correspondences. Until next time, much love and peace to you all.

Casting Spells in Modern Witchcraft and Pagan Practices
By Tiffany Faye 7/29/2021
So, we have talked about Magick and discussed one way to perform magick, using Rituals. Another way to perform magick is with spell working. When people think of spells, their thought automatically go to the witches in movies and TV shows and the mystical effects caused from spells performed by those witches. Modern witchcraft and spell crafting is far from that; it is a way to express your desires and manifest them into reality. "Spells are symbolic acts perform in an altered state of consciousness in order to cause a desire change." They can be used for attracting money, love, and success, healing and developing inner power, banishment, and protection. The list goes on and on, but it is important to remember that while magick can be used for good, it can used to cause harm with that comes karma.
Spirituals approaches to life, including the practice of magick, is gain popularity among younger generations. The fact that one has independences over their beliefs and the possibilities of gaining what you desire is what is drawing people in. It also gives the practitioner a sense of empowerment while providing comfort against this dark world. While there is no Book of Ethics for those who just practice witchcraft and cast spells, most practitioners will follow their own set of ethics and morals. Most will avoid black magick because of the beliefs of Karma and the Threefold Law, the belief that what you send out comes back to you three times over.
Magick is based on the belief that our soul mirrors the vast universe, the source from which we came, and spell working is finding that energy with us, raising it and the directing it towards your desires. Through using materials and tools, we channel that energy and the energy around us. The most successful spells are those that have purpose and having belief in process of the spell and your desires will come to you one day. A spell should be to fulfill your deepest desires and need and can be created from reactions to certain events or ideas from our head. It is best to avoid casting spells while under emotional stress since the outcomes of our spells will reflect our energy. If our energy and emotions are chaotic, so will the results of our spells.
How to cast a spell
The mechanics behind casting a spell are very similar to that of hold a ritual. Some general rules of thumb to follow when casting spells - be persistent but don't dabble, don't start anything that you can't finish, remembering karma, and be precise. The first step is figuring out your intentions and desires for your spell, while keeping in mind the threefold law and karma. What are wishing to change or manifest in your life? After figuring out your intention, choose your ingredients, materials, and tools for the spell. What colors, crystals, herbs, moon phases or astrological transits, oils, or other items can you use that correspond to your intentions. Correspondences are tools, materials, and ingredients that we associate with certain energies You can make correspondences out of anything, like the days of the weeks, the months, moon and sun phase, herbs and crystals, and more.
After you have determined your intentions and chosen your materials, figure out where you will be performing the spell. A common place is your sacred altar but if you can't have one out 24/7, try making a "de-constructible altar" by keeping your altar items in a box near where you would set it. You will want to cleanse yourself and the area you have chosen. For yourself, you can do a ritual bath or use a smudge stick while smudging your chosen location. Other options for cleansing the location are sound, Florida water, incense, among others. Finally, set up for the spell by putting your spell materials and tools in their designated areas.
Before casting your spell, start with opening a magickal circle and evoking any entities you wish to work with. Now it is time for the spellwork. Remember to be precise while defining your intentions and avoid being too broad. The use of incantations be spoken a loud can be very beneficial for this. An incantation is basically magickal conversation between the practitioners and the universe or any entity they are working with, where the practitioner is asking for assistance in their spellwork. While peaking them aloud is not necessary, I do recommend it even if you use simple wording. When we "think" of our intention our thoughts can wander and we can end up thinking the opposite of what we want into fruition. Finally, you will want to avoid any negative wording (I don't, or I am not) as well as phrases that start along the lines of "I want…"
After performing your spell, meditate on the spell and visualize your desires manifesting. Focus the energy used in the spell on what you are visualizing. Try to concentrate on your intention for as long as possible while avoiding mixing doubt or negative thoughts into your intentions. When you are done meditating, thank the universe, any deities, nature spirits, or any other entity you worked with for the purpose of the spell. Finally, say some "closing words" to end the spell and close the magickal circle.
Types of Spells and Spell Work
Sympathy and Antipathy Spells - Sympathy Spells are used to attract forces together and are commonly used for love spells. Antipathy spells are used to repel forces apart or removing someone or something from your life They can be in the form of freezer spells, cord-cutting spells, etc.
Contagion Spells are don’t through using an item belonging to someone, or a link between 2 entities, for magickal purposes. There are benefits and dangers involved with these types of spells The benefits of these spell include being connected to a deity, using items belonging to a spirit to make contact. The dangers include a witch using something belonging to you to curse you and voodoo dolls and poppet. Remember, voodoo is a closed practice.
Inversion Spells are used to get rid of curses, hexes, or negative energy. Performed through the use of evil-eye talismans, mirror spells, cayenne pepper
Repeating Spells - Repetition helps focus your intent and increases the energy you are working with. Writing something repeatedly, reciting your spell multiple times, spell-based habits (using a broom to "sweep" away negative energy), and using rhymes for your incantation are ways to perform repetition spells.

A Ritual You Can Perform for Lughnasadh/Lammas
By Tiffany Faye, 7/27/2021
Items Needed:
Pillar or taper candles to represent the God and Goddess - Red to represent the aspect of Harvest Mother and Yellow to represent the aspect of John Barleycorn
Colored or white candles to represent the 4 tradition elements
Stalks of wheat, or another type of grain, and ribbons in the colors of red, yellow, green, orange, or gold for the corn dolly you will be making
Small sticks and branches, and either willow or hazel withies or honeysuckle vine to make a mini wicker man and somewhere to safely burn it - fire pit, bonfire, fire safe container
Paper and pen or pencil
Cakes and Ale - Uncut loaf of bread and either ritual wine or apple cider
Altar decorations based off correspondences for the Sabbat
Steps:
1. Pick where you want to perform this ritual. Outside would be best since this Sabbat is about thanking the God and Goddess for the abundance of the Earth. We will also be burning a wicker man, so if weather doesn't permit, it would be best to skip this part or adjust.
2. Gather all your materials and decide on if you want to work with any dieties. This Sabbat is sacred to the Celtic god Lugh. Ceres (Roman) and Demeter (Greek) are other dieties you can work with.
3. Cleanse yourself and your sacred area and set-up your altar and for the ritual.
4. Open your circle - light each element candle starting at Air, then Fire, then Water, the Earth, while welcoming each one into your circle. Call upon John Barleycorn and the Harvest Mother or any specific dieties you wish to work with while lighting the God and Goddess candles.
5. Start making your corn dolly. Soak the stalks of grain in water to make them more palpable and use the ribbon to tie it in place. While making the dolly, give thanks for the abundance you have receive this year. Think about all that you have and how blessed you are and give thanks.
6. After making your corn dolly, reflect on the year and anything negative that has happened or negative behavior you exhibit. Think about how this negativity doesn't benefit you and how it needs to leave your life while writing it down on your paper. After writing your list, start building your wicker man. Use the stick to create a base, with 2 legs,2 arms, and a head connected to a torso and use whatever material you chose to wrap everything in place. After the base is constructed, use the rest of the vine or switches to create the body while hiding your list within the torso. After it is done being made, place it in the bonfire, fire pit and fire safe container and light it on fire while visualizing this negativity leaving your life once and for all. (Please follow your local burning laws if you choose to do a bonfire.)
7. Divination work - if so desired. Runes and Oracle and Tarot cards can provide great insight into the areas that correspond with Lammas. Ask about areas like wealth, career success, and love. http://www.wortsandcunning.com/blog/first-harvest-lammas-tarot-spread, https://angelorum.co/topics/divination/lammas-celebration-tarot-spread/,
8. Cake and Ale ceremony - The cutting of the first loaf of the harvest is sacred. Give thanks for your abundance in life while partaking in consuming your abundance as well. Leave some as offerings for the God and Goddess, or any deities you chose to work with.
9. Close the circle and end the ritual when you are ready.
10. Record and reflect.
Pagan and Wiccan Rituals - What are they and How can you perform one?
By Tiffany Faye, 7/7/2021
Last week, we talked about magick - what it is, the different types, and had mentions rituals and spells. The next few weeks we will be discussing rituals and spells, how you can make your ow, the use of correspondences and more.
Magickal workings come in many forms and two of the main most common ways to perform magick is through rituals and spells. Think of a ritual as a church service and the spell done during the ritual as a prayer. Rituals are normally done in accordance with the seasons to celebrate the Sabbats, or the Wheel of the Year, or for certain lunar phases. Other common uses for rituals are worship and communing with your deities, nature spirits such as the Fae, or your ancestor and/or spirit guides. Rituals can also be done for a magickal purpose, to bring some type of change about in your life, whether that be in the form of healing, abundance, love, or protection. The list goes on and this is where the differences between rituals and spells get blurred. Spells are aiming to a certain intent or outcome and can also bring about change in one’s life. Rituals and spells are collectively known as magickal workings, or just workings.
While performing rituals, and spells for that matter, many people will use items and materials, commonly referred to as correspondences, to boost the magickal energy they wish to work with, as well as directing the energy to their goal or intent. When planning a ritual, ask yourself what you wish to work towards? Is there a Sabbat coming up, or do you wish to work with the monthly energies for the lunar phases? After figuring out what you want your intent is, research, research, research. What deities or spirit can you call upon for your ritual? Are you going to be invoking them or evoking them? What colors, crystals, herbs, symbols, totems, or other items can you use that correspond to your intent? Finally, where are you going to perform this ritual? If it is during a lunar phase, what better place than outside under the moonlight (or lack thereof if working with the Dark/New Moon) if the weather permits.
After figuring out the what, why, and where, figure out the how and who and once again the possibilities are endless. If you have a coven, are you going to be performing it with them, or is this ritual for yourself? Is it going to be elaborate and formal, or simple and casual? You can research already made rituals on the internet or in a book that fit with your intent and then either make some slight changes to it, use it as an outline for a new ritual, or use it as is. If none of those options resonate with you, pick up your pen and ritual journal or Book of Shadows and start writing; see what you can come up with on your own. Just remember, this is magickal time for you to commune with your deities or any other entities you work with and for magickal and spiritual growth. Don’t stress yourself out about how fancy or pretty it sounds or appears, all that matters is that is works for you.
After figuring out the logistics of the rituals, next is performing it. On the chosen time and day, prepare the area you have chosen for the ritual. First cleanse and smudge yourself and the area. After that, set up your altar with the materials and items item you have chosen. If working with the elements and/or any deities, put the items you have chosen to represent them in their respective locations.
Once you are set up, it is time to open your magickal circle by calling upon the elements. Then if you are working with any deities or nature spirits, now is the time to evoke or invoke them. After the circle is formed, any magickal workings, divination, meditation, communing with the called upon entities, etc., will now be performed. You can do multiple workings, including spells, within one ritual. I like to do rituals with just a spell sometimes and for others I like to add more workings depending on the occasion. After your magickal workings, it is time for your energy requests, if any, offerings, and cake and ale ceremony. Finally, you close you magickal circle and end the ritual whenever you are ready; records your ritual and everything that happened in during it in your journal or Book of Shadows and spend some time reflecting on any moments, emotions, visualizations, and divination drawings that occurred.
Rituals, like spells, are a way to work magick. They are more generalized than spells, which normally have one or two main focal points. Rituals are used for celebrating, especially the change of season through the Sabbat, as well as working with lunar energy, communing with any type of entity you wish you to work, and can also have a magickal intent to bring about some change in your life. While they can be done in so many ways and for so many different reasons, rituals are rooted in Pagan and Wiccan traditions and beliefs and are not to be taken likely.
Please remember to do your research before working with ANYTHING. Here is a quick-read article on the differences be evoking and invoking.

Invoking vs. Evoking in Magickal Practices
By Tiffany Faye, 7/27/2021
While working with deities, spirits, ancestor, or any other type of entity, it is important to understand the differences between invoking and evoking, for not knowing can be dangerous. Much like many things in Pagan and Wiccan traditions, the lines between the terms "invoke" and "evoke" are blurred, thus creating a lot of misinformation. In this quick-read article, we are going to give you a quick overview of the differences between evoking and invoking an entity.
First, let's talk about evoking since it can be the less dangerous of the two. The word evoke comes from the French word "evoquer" meaning "to call out, rouse, or summon." In magickal practice, it is the act of summon a deity, spirit, ancestor, spirit guide, or something like your magickal circle. When first starting out or even just first contacting an entity, it best uses the practice of "evoking" them. When you invite them to your circle, you may feel their presence and sometime even exhibit some of their behavior based off the emotions and energies you pick up. You are basically asking two things when evoking an entity, you are asking them to join you and bear witness to your magickal workings and maybe give their blessings if they so desire.
Now, invoking means to summoning an entity and inviting it into yourself. It is a voluntary for of possession where the entity can have control of your body and use your voice for communication for a short time. When not done correctly, it can be very dangerous. The word invoke comes from the Latin word "invocare" meaning "to call upon, to implore." You may want to invoke an entity as way of worship and communing with them or for manifestation purposes. You are asking them to teach you something or for assistance with your magickal workings. Most invocations are done in ritualistic forms with some people using things like recreational drugs and teas to aid them in invocations.
So, you know the differences, what now? Before you invoke, or evoke, ANYTHING, do your research! There are some entities out there you may never want to invoke, or just need to be a little more experienced to handle. Figure out what they like for offerings and how to invoke or evoke them. You can recite poetry or re-enact a story from mythology that features them, you can sing, chant, or even just speak in your mind. After you do your research, prepare yourself and an area you wish to work by cleansing or smudging it. You can cleanse yourself with a ritual bath and/or a smudge stick, as well as the are you chose. If evoking an entity, set up a designated area for the entity to be during the ritual. Then set up any materials and the offerings you chose for the ritual and open your magickal circle. Use the method you chose for the invocation or evocation, if using this as a method of worship and communion, take the time to pay attention to any feelings or energies you experience. If using this for magickal workings or manifestation, carry on with your ritual. Be sure to leave them your offerings and give thanks for the time spent. Finally, after your ritual is complete and you are ready to end the ritual, give thanks again and close the circle. Like always, record the ritual and experience in your journal or book of shadows and spend time reflecting on the ritual and what it meant for you.
Both evoking and invoking can be used to summon a spirit but in very different ways. The way I remember it is, invoking is internal because you are inviting an entity inside of you for voluntary possession and evoking is external because they are invited to your magickal circle to bear witness and provide blessings if they so desire.

Lughnasadh - The First Harvest - What is it and how can you celebrate it?
By Tiffany Faye, 7/26/2021
Lughnasadh, or Lammas, is one of the eight Witches Sabbats and is the First Harvest of the season. It occurs on August 1st, directly in between the Summer Solstice and Autumnal Equinox. We are celebrating the abundance created from the union of the Earth and the Sun, of the Goddess and the God. It is a time to give thanks for what we have but is also a grim reminder that nothing lasts forever. Also called the Grain Harvest, this is when corn and grains of all kind are harvested. Lammas translates to "loaf-mass" because the first loaf made from the first harvest of the season is sacred. As well as seeing the decline in the Sun, we are reminded of hope with the seeds that are being returned to the ground to sprout the next spring.
The God is in his aspect of John Barleycorn and He is begnning to loose his strength, for his power has been transferred to the crops that are being cut down. He has become the God of Sacrifice for he is eaten with the harvests of the season, while also being returned to the Earth to grow anew next spring. The Goddess is in her aspect of the Harvest Queen, or Earth Mother, whom is heavily pregnant with the next year's Sun God. She watches the God die in sorrow but also joy for She knows He lives on within Her.
Ways to Celebrate Lughnasadh:
Make a bonfire
Have a harvest feast
Making a Grain Mother, or corn dolly - Gather stalks of wheat, rye, oats, or another type of grain. Soak it in water to make it easier to bend, and bend it in the shape a woman. Use ribbon or twine to hold the stalks in place, and dress it with homemade clothes from craps of cloth. While making putting your corn dolly together, give thanks for the abundance you have received. You can place it on your altar or as decoration for any festivities.
Make a Wicker Man - Put all of the bad habits you don't like and want to get rid of inside of him. You can write it on a piece of paper or bay leaf, and then throw him into a bonfire.
Baking bread, especially cornbread, Is sacred to this Sabbat. Here is a recipe I found on a website call the Goddess and the Greenman. I will link it in the sources below:
Buttermilk Bread Charm for Lammas
You will need:
3 mugs of strong white flour
500 ml of Buttermilk (available from the supermarket)
I teaspoonful of bicarbonate of soda
Lammas ribbon in your choice of color – gold, orange, yellow
Sprouted seeds – these represent regeneration. Can even be bought in the supermarket now. Frequently found in wholefood shops – or sprout your own.
Place the flour in a large bowl. Make a well in the center. Sieve in the blended salt and soda and pour in the buttermilk. Mix well with a wooden spoon until the dough feels springy and then mix in the sprouted seeds. If it feels too sloppy just add a little more flour. Turn it onto a board and cover with a fine dusting of flour. Pat it with your hands until you have a round shape. Take a sharp knife and score lightly into eight sections, one for each festival. Our picture shows the bread cut into five sections, making a pentacle.
Place onto a greased baking tray and pop your buttermilk bread into a moderate oven for about 20-25 minutes. Keep and eye on it. When the bread is ready it will change color and it will sound hollow when you tap the bottom. Cool completely on a wire rack. When it is cool, tie it with Lammas ribbon.
Take time to concentrate on the bread you have created and turn the loaf three times saying "From the fields and through the stones, into fire, Lammas Bread, as the Wheel turns may all be fed. Goddess Bless.”
Now take your bread and share it with your family and friends and pass on the generous blessings of this bright and bountiful festival. Eat it fresh, as soon as it is made if you can.

What is Magick? - Magick in Wicca and other Pagan Traditions
By Tiffany Faye, 7/23/2021, updated on 7/30/2021 & 8/3/2021
Another topic I wanted to talk about to clear up any confusions is "What is Magick?" I'm kind of glad I thought of this subject too because while trying to find sources to use for this blog post, it was a little difficult. I found a lot of articles about explaining wicca, and types of witchcrafts, or paganism but not a thorough in-depth explanation of "Magick." First, the only other source for this article I will be using are notes I have taken myself while being a student at The Magickal Circle School. I'll link them at the end of this post for anyone interested in joining. They are currently rewriting classes, but a lot of new ones have just been put up to get you started while you wait for the rest of them. You do also have to do the Orientation Class and Plagiarism Workshop as well to take most other classes. To me, the time and writing I must do is so worth it and makes writing these blog posts so much easier.
Now let's talk about what magick is NOT. It is not wiggling your nose for something to happen or change. It's not riding a broomstick across the night sky. It is not sucking the youth of little children to stay young for eternity. And it is NEVER a fix-all solution to your problems, which we will touch back on in a little bit.
First, what is magick? Magick is a primeval tool discovered by humans thousands of years ago. Magick with a k was used by Aleister Crowley to used to differentiate spiritual magick from stage magic with most of the Magick we practice being based of his teaching in Thelema. Being able to perform magick helps people gain what they desire and bring changes to their life, while also giving people a sense of empowerment and independence and giving comfort in this dark world. Magick can be placed into two different categories. Thaumaturgy is working with energy with a specific goal in mind to bring about a desired change. Magick under this category includes increasing wealth, attracting love, banish someone or something from your long, among many others. The second kind of magick, theurgy, is magick involving the divine. This includes but is not limited to, spiritual and devotional work, working with a specific deity and spiritual transformation.
Magick is defined as "the process of directing energy to achieve a desired result or intent." If you need or want something, and it aligns with the whims of Life and Fate, all you need to do is set your intentions and send those intentions out into the universe imagining them as manifested and true. Everyone has a predestined path set for them and we can use magick, or manipulating energy, or whatever you want to call it, to improve the quality of your life but you CANNOT change the predestined path you were meant to take for this lifetime.
The practice of witchcraft and magick, besides within certain Pagan and Wiccan traditions, don't have a set book of rules or ethics that they MUST adhere to, but many practitioners still follow their own set of morals and ethics. Most practitioners, regardless of their beliefs, still follow karma and the threefold laws, while also avoiding harmful and black magick.
So back to what I said before, it is NEVER a fix-all solution to your problems. Think of it this way, your broke and don’t have a job, so you do a spell for success to help you find a good job. Seems simple enough, right? But what else is missing? You need to get up and look for a job; go out and put in applications and talk with managers or look online and then always continue the search. My point here is we are all human, we aren't gods or magickal beings that manifest something out of nothing. We are mundane so even though magick IS accessible to us, we must combine the mundane life with the magickal. That is the only way magick will EVER work. Some may argue, but this is my belief based off my own past and experiences. You can only teach what you know, right?
Now that we covered WHAT it is, let's talk about HOW we can perform magick. Obviously, spells are the best know way to perform magick. Rituals are kind of also another way. Think of a Pagan or Wiccan Ritual as a church service, and the spell that you do during the ritual as the prayer. When performing spells, we have so much at our disposal that we can use to strengthen or amplify the energy we are sending out. These are called correspondences and can be anything from colors, herbs, crystals, moon phases, deities, astrology, and so much more. But we will touch on correspondences in the future.
I hope this article was informative to you and that I could shed some light on what exactly "magick" is. So many people give witches crazy looks when we talk about magick or declare ourselves witches because their thoughts go immediately to what you see in the movies and TV show or read about in books. As unfortunate as it is, that kind of magick isn't real. (Unless someone is hiding some information from me, then please come forth lol.)
Join me (almost) every Tuesday and Thursday for our "Teaching" posts, where pick a subject and give you all the information we know or can find about it. While researching, I fact check everything and teach only the things I know based off my own understanding from my past and experiences. It is never my goal to falsely give you information, so I encourage you all to double check and fact check everything you ever read on the internet, no matter who the source is.

Full Buck Moon Recipes
by Tiffany Faye, 7/20/2021
To end our series of posts on the Full Buck Moon, I'm going to give you all the recipes I used or plan to use for this Full Buck Moon.
Click here to read about the Full Buck Moon, what it means, and the astrological placements for the Full Buck Moon in 2021.
Click here to read ways to celebrate the Full Buck Moon, including an Esbat Rite.
First, the peace and tranquility oil I used:
1/2 part Chamomile Essential Oil
1/4 par Violet Fragrance Oil
1/4 part Sandalwood
1 part Olive Oil
The herbal blend I used:
Chamomile, Lavender, Rubbed Sage, Rose Petals
Super simple, right? For the parts, you can measure however you want. I have 1 ounce amber glass bottles so I put .5 ounces of Olive Oil, .25 ounces of chamomile, and .125 ounces of violet and sandalwood. I just took a few drops after mixing and shaking it up and rubbed on the outside of the candle, then rolled the candle in the herb mixture.
Cake and Ale recipes:
I always make the same cakes for every full moon, I got the recipe from LearnReligions.com, which I will link in source.
Ingredients:
2 1/2 Cups all purpose flour
1 1/2 tsp baking soda
1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
2 Sticks of butter (1 Cup), softened
2 1/2 Cups sugar
1 egg
1 tsp. vanilla extract
Blend flour, baking soda, and baking powder together. In another bowl, cream the butter and sugar together. Add the egg to the butter and sugar and mix well. Add vanilla extract. One cup at a time, add the flour mix into the wet ingredients. Mix until it's nice and doughy.
Flour your hands, and roll dough into pieces about the size of a golf ball. Squash it down and shape it into a crescent, and then flatten it down. Another option is to roll the dough out and cut it with crescent cookie cutters -- be sure to flour your cookie cutters before you use them, or the dough won't come out as well.
Bake on an ungreased baking sheet at 350 for about ten minutes, until the sides begin to brown.
Make icing with the following ingredients, this is optional. I always make the icing and put silver sprinkles on top:
1 8-oz block of cream cheese, softened
1 stick butter, softened
4 Cups powdered sugar
1 tsp. vanilla extract
1 tsp. milk
Blend the cream cheese and butter together, and then gradually add in the powdered sugar. Add the vanilla and mix well. Blend in the milk (add a little more if your icing doesn't seem creamy enough). After your moon cookies have cooled, use this to frost them.
Lavender and Chamomile Moon Milk recipe for your "Ale":
I found this recipe specifically for the Buck Moon in a youtube video, link will be in my sources. I am super excited to try this because it just look so yummy!
1 cup unsweetened almond milk
1 teaspoon dried lavender
1 teaspoon dried chamomile
1/2 teaspoon of vanilla extract
Pour almond milk into sauce pan. Add in chamomile, lavender and vanilla extract. Put on low heat until it simmers. Once it starts simmering, stir it while thinking of your intentions for the month. Think about vivid dreams, accomplishing goals, being calm and not irritated, or anything else you want to work on. Pour through a tea strainer into your favorite cup, and add honey to your desired sweetness.

How to Celebrate the Full Buck Moon
By Tiffany Faye, 7/20/2021
In our last post, we talked about what the Full Buck Moon means, the astrological placements of this year’s Full Buck Moon and what they mean, and the correspondences for the month. In this post, let us talk about how we can celebrate this full moon and then I will give you Esbat ritual you can perform at home.
Do divination and dream work
This is a great time to work on Divination. Pick your favorite method of divination and ask yourself some questions pertaining to your personal thoughts, feelings, and emotions, and what you should work on during the next Full Moon. You could light a purple candle to boost knowledge and intuition. Also try using some crystals and incense that correspond to wisdom, physic development, intuition, knowledge, and clairvoyance. Record any divination workings in your journal or Book of Shadows. Also, if you have wanted to start a dream journal, now would be a great time to do so.
Relax and reflection
The first half of the year is over so may feel the need to rush to finish your goals. Take the time to relax and reflect on all you have accomplished this year, everything you have gained or loss, and where you want to go from there. You may have the urge to just accomplish all your goals at once. Use self-control and moderation so you do not burn yourself out. A good option would be to try journaling - make a list of your achievements, write about how this full moon make you feel, record your dreams, and more! Make sure you also take the time enjoy the things you like versus the things you feel you must do.
Go out in nature and/or spend time in your garden
Another name for July's full moon is the Wort Moon. This is the time of year where you see your gardens growing more rapidly for this is a time of abundance and prosperity. Spending time in your garden and caring for it would be a great activity to work on during this full moon. If you do not have a garden, go on a walk, and collect and/or take pictures of the things that draw your attention. Then take your collection home and see what magickal tools you make out of them.
Buck Moon Esbat Celebration
An Esbat is a Wiccan celebration that is held during the full moon, either by covens or solitary practitioners. For some traditions, this is a time for initiations and healing magick, but the full moon is also a time for magick of all needs. During the waxing moon, we draw things to us, and it is the opposite for the waning moon. The full moon is a time for celebration, wholeness, and divination work. It also a good time to work with families, especially mothers and children due to the nurturing nature of the full moon. There are 13 full moons every year and each one corresponds to different energies. Most will use this time to commune with their gods with an Esbat rite followed by spellwork and a cakes and ale ritual. The Wiccan ritual "Drawing Down the Moon" is also done during the full moon.
How to hold an Esbat Rite
(I have not done this ritual yet, I planned it out ahead of time for myself to do and to share with you guys. The words I plan to use for the ritual, I will link in my sources. I am not good with making fancy incantations and chants. Click here for all recipes used for the Esbat ritual.)
First, you will want to gather any material you wish to use. In our last article we listed some correspondence for the Full Buck Moon (they are also listed below). You will want a bowl of water and a candle for the moon. An unscented and white pillar candle would work great. If you are calling the quarters when you cast your circle, use candles (either white or corresponding to their colors) or something else to represent them (incense for air, salt for earth, water for water, candle for fire). Finally, decorate your altar with crystals, colors, totems/symbols, and other items that correspond to the moon.
Next, you want to establish a sacred place; smudge and cleanse the area you wish to hold your Esbat rite and then cast your circle. After your circle is cast, now is the time to set up your altar. Put the items you chose to use where it feels right. I will put a picture of how my altar will be set up. If you wish to inscribe your moon candle with sigils or symbols, now is the time to do so as well.
After your altar is set up, turn to your altar, open your arms wide and say,
"Goddess of the moon, queen of the night, keeper of women's mysteries, mistress of the tides, you who are ever changing and yet always constant, I ask that you guide me with your wisdom, help me grow with your knowledge, and hold me in your arms."
Then, light the candle and reflect on the good in your life. Pick up the bowl of water to the sky and say,
"The moon is the symbol of the mother, and she watches over us day and night. She brings the changing tide, the shifting night, the flow that changes women's bodies, and the passion of lovers to their beloved. Her wisdom is great and all-knowing, and we honor her tonight. Keep your watchful eyes upon us, great mother, until the cycle returns once more, and bring us to the next full moon, in your love and light."
Reflect on the changes from the last moon phase. Have you ended a toxic relationship or ended a new one? Are you starting a new job, or maybe lost your old one and trying to find another? Whatever your situation, meditate on the good in your life and the improvements you want to make during this lunation.
If you wish to do any magickal workings, now is the time to do so. I chose to do a candle spell for anger and irritation because of this month’s Full Moon placements. I will be using a black taper candle for banishment. I created a sigil to help control my anger and irritation, which I will be carving into the taper candle (tip: use a hot knife!). I then anointed the candle with a special oil mixture of mine for peace and happiness and rolled it in an herbal blend. After that, you just light the candle and let it burn out. I am not one for fancy words for spells like this. I just think my intentions while creating my spell and then with candle spells I will meditate while they burn. I think I will probably try to do shadow work while the candle burns when I do this ritual on the 23rd.
Next, I plan to do a cake and ale ceremony. Prepare your cakes and ale ahead of time but they do not have to fancy if you do not want them to be. They could be white bread and water. You can say some words, eat half while reflecting on your ritual and then leave half as an offering for the Goddess.
Finally, you can close the circle and end ritual when you are ready. Record your ritual in your book of shadows or journal.
