and unlike xander who's kind of distant because he has to be the perfect crown prince and kind of has a slightly worse relationship with leo because of it (though loves him dearly), he actually a good relationship with takumi, despite the latter's inferiority complex. like their supports follow the same beats (little brother has an outburst, big brother comforts them), but leo and xander take a nosedive while ryoma and takumi don't have to have some big patch up

and like obviously, i think it's because he didn't have a dad at all, but the memories he did have of sumeragi were warm. so he had to step up sort of as a father figure to takumi and sakura, unlike xander who also has to contend with his dad being alive so that kind of warps their relationship a little to being more competitive

and he loves his stepmom despite the fact that he must've been like seven or eight years old when sumeragi brought her into the family and his birth mom was still around, to the point where he actively expresses happiness when orochi tells him what she was like when no one was looking. like I'm pretty sure the "mother" he references in his sakura support is mikoto too. he's such a mama's boy

and when he shows up again in the story and teases corrin by asking her if she recognizes him...it's so cute!

but i just can't vibe with the fact that he must've realized his brother was dead, right after their mother, and the first thing he did was join up with scarlet, leaving his sisters even MORE worried and the kingdom without a king. and there isn't any conversation on it!

like it's been some time since i played that chapter but everyone's like "we're so relieved you're okay!" and no one makes the connection.

and i'm saying that he probably realized that because takumi is said to have fallen into the canyon. and it's said they were cornered and fought some soldiers off.
