Evolution Of Photography Through My Eyes

Roger Fenton was known for photographing war. Although he did not photograph the gory battlefield scenes. Fenton would photograph hazy portrait pictures of soldiers back at their camp, and simple landscape images of the battlefield. 

Chalmers is known for photographing the food chain, and taking up close pictures of insects, and bugs. 

Vivian Maier worked as a nanny for the majority of her life. Although later on she found photography, and her skill came naturally. She is famously known for her expressive street art she was able to capture on individuals going about their everyday life. 

Lee Friedlander was a social photographer, typically doing street photographer. Although he is personally pieced within each of his images. Within his shots there is a reflection of his silhouette hidden somewhere. 

Ansel Adams was famously known for his crisp, black and white landscape  photography. He photographed scenery and landscapes because he was an environmentalist, and his work is widespread among calendars and postcards.

Muybridge was known for the horse in motion. He was the first photographer that was able to capture motion. With this evolution came the invention of films, which would later lead into movies. Muybridge would photograph unique, or common movements within multiple shots which would be composed and played as a film for viewers.

The Carte de Visite movement began in Europe, or Paris, France. The Carte de Visite consisted of thin portraits that were placed onto a type of thick card stock paper. Individuals were able to hand out self-pictures to friends and family members, which basically created what we know today as a individual post-card.

A photography studio is the location the photographer will compose the image, or edit it. The studio consists of multiple different color backdrops for lighting purposes, along with lights, dimmers, props, and computer equipment to edit the image. 

Color photography made its big debut through the Kodak company. Kodak had created the first camera, and gave everyone the ability to become a photographer. Once the camera was distributed to an individual they were able to snapshot 100 pictures of whatever they chose. Once their film roll was full they would send it back to Kodak and they would develop the film. The film would then be developed in color which revolutionized photography because it gave the image a greater sense of reality. After the development in color the images were sent back to the individual with a new roll of film, the individual was charged for the development and Kodak began their legendary company. 

When photographing space, the original image the photographer is capturing is actually in black and white. Although once taken photographers edit them within a photography studio and fill the image with correlating colors in order to please the human eye, and actually create a false reality. 

Surrealism is a photography style that consists of multiple images combined into one. Photographers take multiple pictures of different objects or scenery and edit, and combine them within a photography studio. The images are edited and pieced together to look real, but have a fantasy filter glazed over it. 

Dada was a post-war art revolt. Many don’t consider the specific style “art” because it consists of taking a formal photograph, and altering it with random images in order for it to not “make sense”, or logical. Their photographs were all over the place in order for the audience to find multiple meanings within it. Dada photographers wanted to disconnect themselves, and isolate their specific art in order to get recognition and attention for the uniqueness. 

Paparazzi photographs are very common today among media sites. Paparazzi are independent photographers that photograph famous individuals through invading their personal space, and privacy. Once these images are capture the photographer typically sells them to media outlets, or is employed by one.

Candid photography is very popular among the modern age. Candid photography is a type of street photography, and consist of an unposed individual in motion. Photographers want to capture the moment and what is going on and felt within it, although not interrupting it. 

The horse in motion was captured by the famous photographer Eadweard Muybridge. Muybridge was the very first photographer to capture motion. Without the capturing of the motion of the horse having all four hooves come off the ground society today would not have the motion pictures, we know as movies. 

Ethnographic photography is used to capture culture. Photographers go out and indulge into different cultures and photograph their everyday lives. These cultures were photographed and captured so when they die off there would be proof and history of their existence and mark they left on the world.

The halftone process consists of the picture looking specifically grainy. With close look of the image the images look composed of numerous dots giving the image a pixelated look. The images are shot in black and white to give the image a crisper look.
