The Lightfarer Chapter 1 - The way home

His longsword shone in the sun. It clinked against his back as he slowly rode through the vale.

For the last two years, Fendrel had been in the eastern territories, fighting abominations that would haunt him in his sleep: an evilness so dark that kept weighing on his chest day and night, even now that his journey was about to end. As soon as the stone walls of Mada appeared on the horizon, he recognised the sleek towers of the Temple. A big smile lit up his face at the thought of finally being home, resting in the sweet arms of the Goddess.

With a squeeze of his tights, the knight sent his mount to gallop full speed. Deep thuds of hooves resounded throughout the green sea of grass while the clouds idly glided by above. A warm spring wind ran through the animal's silver mane, climbing up to Fendrel’s ears: it carried the sounds of the forest and the hills and the cowbells chiming in the pastures. That was the peace the man had longed for for so long.

Alas, his idyllium was soon broken by an ominous echo in the distance.

Hello, it's me, again.

As I've been navigating my first pregnancy this summer, I've spent some time pondering on Paladin Toshi. I've ended up developing a bunch of plots, places and characters so intricate that, whatever this thing is now, it has nothing to do with fandoms anymore.
