Because you have never been exposed to the feelings, you didn't expect it to happen. The first cut you have ever felt, and you still can't believe something like that would ever happen. You remember the pain, the person, the memory, because it does not go away. It is as if all you want to do is sit and cry, nothing else matters except the fact that you were hurt by that person who you believed loved you and would never hurt you. Supposedly the pain is easier after it happens again and you get used to it, but it doesn't seem like it could ever go away or be completely numb. You feel useless and stupid.
