I think I've finally accepted that I watch bl and gl for the romance aspect. If they choose to tackle other issues on the way and stick the landing I'm totally cool with that but what I'm here for is the love. Actors who play their roles with romance as their priority tend to be more enjoyable for me. You can serve me all the drama but it has to lead me back to the love. I stumbled into this realisation while thinking about FirstKhao characters and why they're always on my mind. Those two understand romance. I mean making a mug for your partner because you realised they've been drinking coffee lately... come on. Their respect for romance, or at the very least appreciation of it takes their pairing work to a whole new level. I've always wondered why some bl shows felt bland and now I see it's because the romance bits were an afterthought. You can tell when an actor places more importance on the aspects that will make them seem like a "real" actor when believable romance that can move a viewer is actually really hard to pull off imo. You need to transport the audience from reality to a world where love is the driving force of everything. It's not just about you being desirable but also making the audience believe your partner is worth crossing valleys and scaling mountains for. Anyway, to me it's a delicate dance and sometimes I even hesitate to give younger cps a chance because I'm not sure they understand what they are portraying. I also enjoy Junior Panachai's performances. What he did with Faifa is exactly what I need. Of course Aou as Tan will always be up there for me.
