This month its our pleasure to bring you an EP of dextrous beat incursions from Brisbaneās Weakling. Drawing inspiration from Spaghetti Western scores and Retro-Exploitation films like Big Bird Cage, this cinematic collection of sample studded tracks evokes a paradoxical sense of familiarity and other worldliness.
Setting the tone with it's soaring Morricone themed intro, Whiskey and Bone runs a maverick path between the back room ambiance and shimmering desert ephemera of its conception and the savvy, up to the minute bass music underpinnings of its execution ā carving an unorthodox route to the dance floor on ātrail of dust and smokeā, taking in oddly appropriate southern rap drawl on āCanyonsā, and rolling out sweetly with the epic 4/4 burner āAfraid no moreā

ELI - Gemmed Pegasus 8.6/Alien (Out on limited vinyl 23/06) This forthcoming release comes courtesy of one Eli Marsland, a bright young prospect hailing from our home town Brisbane. Eliās Ender debut represents our first ever Vinyl release as well as his debut release proper. Both tracks on this single nicely demonstrate what Eli is capable of ā colourful vignetted splashes of prodigious talent, bringing towering off kilter pressure and subtly nuanced production prowess. Gemmed Pegasus rolls out on a bleepy, technicolour Beat Dimensions tip before flipping into a beguilingly dreamy trap laced roller for the more sophisticated dancefloor. Meanwhile Alien is a blink-and-youāll-miss-it assault of thunderous slabs of stuttering noise ā a track that seems to be as much on an unstoppable charge as it does on the brink of total collapse. Gemmed Pegasus/Alien is out on both 7" Vinyl and HQ MP3 formats as of the 23/06/2013 and will be packaged up with some sumptuous artwork - as is the Ender tradition. 2013 promises to be a busy year so keep an eye out for more Ender releases coming your way soon.
