Election day
Today is an awful day A gruesome, unfathomable twist spun upon us today, one that will put us all betwixt.
Today is a day of fear We will, for once, fear the expected more than the unexpected. We stand in the shadow of cunning stupidity, and so we will for another 4 years.
Today, I ask you to understand that we all live on the same planet. It’s not Trump and Hillary, it’s not Republicans and Democrats. We all pass each other in the hallway, and we still will, after today.
Today, and onwards we are to live in a shadow of a man that speaks of climate change as a myth, as a joke, a prank. In the shadow of a man where racism is again a threat, where sexism once again prevails, where fascism rises it’s shallow head. In the shadow of bigotry. This is what we will pass in the hallways for the next 4 years.
Today, I ask you to remember that we are all still people. Every millenial who didn’t vote, every middle aged man who lost their job, every pensioner who lost their support. Every man in regret.
In the rage and frenzy, fear and distortion, most of all, let us not watch in monochrome. Let us not embrace the forlorn. Let us look onward, move forward, and march in his shadow, from this day on.
