Inevitably

I wonder where my heart goes

When your eyes meet mine 

And the world seems to have

Done with the hesitations

Of “what ifs,”

I will rise, echoing sentiments

Once upon a time

I wished upon a lie

Convinced I could alter the truth

Of how I felt about you,

Yet while the mind will believe as it needs

I spent far too long

Looking out into the sea,

Asking for answers--

“Is this me?”

But waters would calmly sit

Watching me watch it

Until I realized

That all I would hear

Was my heart without fear--

Your name lingering on my lips,

Blanket of your outstretched arms,

Here I shall find sleep.

You travel the world

Restless--

Searching for what is lost,

Your heart set to seek

Flutters of another heart beat.

But you have left a home

Settled--

Wandering until you find

That emotions inevitably peak

Perhaps, one day

We will learn

To dance again

Without the sound

Of impeding death

As the soundtrack

Your lips pursed,

Poised to steal
