I think Wendy is the better enemy of Cartman than Kyle is. Kyle seems too willing to believe his lies and sympathize with him and seems to want to be his friend regardless of all the bigotry and evil selfish shit he does. Wendy has no such weaknesses. She outright despises him which is why she wins.
I don't think this person understands kyle or how he interacts with cartman. it's not that kyle is too willing to believe cartman and sympathize with him. most of the time kyle doesn't believe what cartman says, he calls his bluff, lets him know when he's wrong, and kyle isn't naive, he might be gullible and prone to manipulation in the way a lot of the boys are, but it takes a lot for him to feel sympathy for cartman, it's not a common occurrence
and it's not that kyle wants to be his friend. kyle has made it clear he hates cartman and all that he stands for but chooses to hang out with him because he's just a part of the friend group. kyle is the kind of character that chooses hope and the belief that people can change and be better so he thinks if he helps cartman maybe he'll change his ways but the tragedy is cartman is incapable of actually changing which is why in post covid kyle refuses to believe cartman turned his life around
genuinely I think this person just wanted to hype wendy up which is fine but why are they disparaging kyle's character to do so :sob: like they can talk about how they like wendy without making things up about kyle to try to make him look bad!!
I don't necessarily think it's that, kyle is making excuses for cartman when he isn't, it's that kyle is a good person who sympathizes with everyone, not just cartman
and they're forgetting something important which is that kyle is designated as cartman's rival because he will fight with cartman over everything
wendy will fight with cartman if it affects her or something she cares about
examples: weight gain 4000, dances with smurfs, breast cancer show ever
and wendy not falling for cartmans manipulations has nothing to do with her victories. it's in how she chooses to play the game
in breast cancer show ever she's determined to fight him until he gets her parents involved but after a talk with principal victoria she sticks to her original plan
in dances with smurfs she chose not to engage with his bullshit until butters stupidly decided to mess with her house and then wendy changed her game by playing the same sensationalist tactics cartman was using to flip the script to make herself look sympathetic and make the outcome better for herself
wendy is better at not falling for cartmans bs because she isn't around him as much as the boys are
I think that person sees an enemies situation as "good person always wins, bad person always fails" and that's good for certain stories but with the way south park works it would get boring quickly the reason well one of the reasons the kyle and cartman enemies dynamic works is sometimes kyle wins sometimes cartman wins and when cartman wins in an episode it makes a kyle victory episode more satisfying because we as the audience can sympathize with him after seeing him go through a loss
