Sometimes I think about how trapped Ree Drummond is. Trapped in an endless cycle of cooking. She cooks food for her family, then returns to cook again. She’s never left the ranch, She only cooks. There is nothing but cooking.
She exists to cook. The ranch is her prison. Even her TV show takes place in her house because she is unable to leave it.
Her only hope of escape is to pile heaps of butter into every recipe and hope that the forces that enslave her die from how much fat is clogging their arteries.
She’s the Pioneer woman who’s only traveled the expanse of however long it takes to reach the other life forms on the property and feed them before returning to the kitchen.
Her smile is one of a woman who has long since lost both her sanity, and her hope, but she still fights back with heaping spoonfuls of lard, sugar, and grease.
Someday, she may be free.
Fight on Ree. Fight on.
