So me and my bestie/roommate/sister have started a podcast!

There are two episodes up already. We post new episodes every Friday.

As the name might suggest, we each discuss two women from history—oftentimes real, sometimes fictional. And we’re covering them all—from amazing trailblazers to truly wicked women, we leave no stone unturned during our tour of the feminine.

In episode one we covered Enheduanna and Boudica. In this week’s episode, we talk about Geraldine Granger and Mary Shelley. (In my opinion, we really start to hit our stride hosting wise in next week’s episode. We’re still new to this, please keep that in mind.)

Throughout the course of the year, we all need to stop, take stock of our lives, reassess, and reboot. This new moon, as we head into summer, is the perfect time to check in on the growth of all the things you planted earlier in the year.

Is everything going as you’d hoped? If not, what would you change?

Make a list or simply focus on what you would like to go differently from this point on.

Then go outside if you can ( or sit inside and look out at the darkness), light a white candle, and give yourself a surge of new energy as you say:

In Hungary, there are a bunch of charms that you can say, when you first see the new moon appear on the sky. But these charms exist only for the new moon - there aren’t really charms to be said to the full or waning moon.

According to one explanation from the end of the 19th century, the phase of the new moon has a certain moment, when the growing of the Moon stops for a moment. If you catch this, and tell the Moon your requests right then, the Moon will have to fulfil them, or it will not be able to grow.

Charm for love:

On new moon a girl steals a few hairs from her love’s head, and throws them in the direction of the Moon saying:

New moon, I watch you, watch you,

Give x love,

So he may me love,

And marry me in love.

Charm for healing:

If you are sick, say this to the new moon:

New Moon, new king, marrying his son, calling me to the wedding, but I cannot go, I send my visitor.
