Enterprising Young Man

Hey guys.

I’m not always as eloquent as @imadoctornotablog and I’m not really in the place to attempt it.

Jim Kirk, this blog, all of you, many of you that I will never forget even if you might not know it, they mean a lot to me. I’ve been here five years. Jim is not the same person- and neither am I.

I love you all very much, some of you exceptionally and without end, but tumblr is not good for my creative or emotional health, and I’ve been RPing in general for more than half my life. It got me through the darkest periods of my life, but in this moment it’s more of a crutch for me, one I may have to leave behind to develop.

I will be retiring Jim, and archiving his blog. Toby and I both want to leave you with something better than this, so we’re gonna finish off with some drabbles, and if there’s anything in particular any of you would like to see, I’d love to bring that to life for you one last time.

Thank you so much for taking this ride with me. I’ll see you again, if only in my memories.

“Oh. Oh fuck. I didn’t want this. Oh no it’s going to absorb my life.” And then it didn’t... and then it did again. It carries the memory of it being the one way to get my friends at the time to enjoy Star Trek. I just wanted to introduce everyone to my favorite and life-long fictional world. So. It probably seems overblown, but eh.

“Captain, unauthorized person on board.”

“Since when?”

Uhura’s head tilted, eyes unfocused as she listened to her earpiece. She frowned, her gaze flicking upwards to meet Jim’s. “Unknown.”

“Anything unusual on the security grid, Lt Hendorff?”

“No sir.”

“Captain-”

“Mr Spock?”

“Unlikely that a stowaway would not have been recognized by our internal sensors.”

“I was thinking the same thing.”

“Captain-” Uhura spoke up again, her chair twisting to face him, “security has apprehended the individual and brought them to the brig.”

“Commander, you have the conn.”

“Sir-”

“I can take care of it myself, thank you.”

Once Jim reached the brig room, he slowed immediately. The individual in question had a strange appearance. Oh, he seemed human enough, Jim’s height at a guess, though with much more bulk. Long hair, rough hands. It was the clothing that eased Jim into a contemplative state. It wouldn’t have looked out of place in a historical vid, but it was certainly no fashion he’d seen in his lifetime.

Being in the spotlight as James T. Kirk is a very odd thing. It’s been over a decade since he stole the name and life of a dead boy with blue eyes, and if his choices for hiding were limited only to earth, it would’ve been a bad choice indeed for all the attention Kirk gets nowadays. After this he can hide somewhere in a nebula maybe. It won’t be hard to go out in flames in this persona.

At least, he didn’t think it would be hard... 

His crew, his doctor, had brought him back to life- at least they thought they had- after the incident with the warp core. It had triggered something in him, something that had been dormant since his first death, centuries ago, piloting a plane high in the sky before the shell had shattered around him, aflame, and he had plunged into the black waters.

A dozen lifetimes had passed since, a haze of confusion gradually fading into listlessness... Drunken abandon and sour absence. Pike had found him, mistaken him for the man he was pretending to be, and given him a chance he hadn’t taken since the Great War. (It started to seem insignificant in the faces of the wars since, in the eyes of history, but never in his own.)

He’d done his second Blaze of Glory, and now that he was still puttering around he didn’t know what to do with himself in this life.

You’re so mean it’s like you don’t even love me.
