We heard the Meteor "boom" last night!
NORTH TEXAS (CBSDFW.COM) â The FAA has confirmed a meteor likely passed across the sky of the Southwest United States Wednesday night, with many people in the Dallas/Fort Worth area hearing and feeling the sonic boom.
The meteor, which was reported from everywhere from San Antonio to Oklahoma City, was spotted around 8:00 p.m. Wednesday.
Kevin Palivec, a former television photographer in the Abilene area captured video of the meteor on two remote cameras 60 miles apart. Images from the cameras show a bright streak passing overhead.

Culture, like brand, is misunderstood and often discounted as a touchy-feely component of business that belongs to HR. Itâs not intangible or fluffy, itâs not a vibe or the office dĂŠcor. Itâs one of the most important drivers that has to be set or adjusted to push long-term, sustainable success. Itâs not good enough just to have an amazing product and a healthy bank balance. Long-term success is dependent on a culture that is nurtured and alive. Culture is the environment in which your strategy and your brand thrives or dies a slow death.
I would say this even stronger: culture is what is implemented in the organization and in the head of the employees while strategies, plans and organization charts are incomplete and one dimensional sketches of what we want the organization to be. The problem is that we think that we can bypass the concept of culture to get directly from these sketchy plans to changed organizational behavior, when in fact the changed culture is what we really want to achieve.
Social Bro rocks. It is a Twitter Tool for everything from management (backup, lists, follow/unfollow, search) to analytics (when to tweet, timezones, languages, maps). The best part is it's free for now...
Wow⌠Honored, GuideHop and iStopover are the the subject of a great post on TechCrunch today!

Before your blog can attract anything more than a search engine crawler (which would probably find your blog even if you tried to hide it intentionally), the first rule is⌠wellll⌠search engines need to FIND it!
Being âfoundâ is not very hard, after all this is the search enginesâ job, but what matters to your recruitment efforts is being found by the right people for the appropriate reasons and in a timely manner. Increase the likelyhood your blog will be picked up by search engines (by that of courser I mean chiefly Google) with the following nifty checklist:
Be an expert. Pick a topic, or topics, and become the expert in those topics. Link to other people who are experts in those topics, and get those folks to link to you. The more âexpertâ you are at something the more likely your page will be picked up by search engines.Â
Include text - photos are great for traffic but Google likes to read. Feed it.
Make it pretty - plain text is easy to share but Google likes nice formatting, it sends a message that you care about your content and its not just there to attract traffic.
Make it easy - Google likes accessibility. Big font, simple color schema, no drop downs, no flash (unless the flash content is replicated in text also), no iframes or obscure site architecture that prevents the crawler from following links, etc.Â
Donât stop! I mean really, keep adding to your blog - Google likes âdate last updatedâ to be recent because it indicates how fresh (or stale) content may be, which in turn may be a great indicator of authenticity or maybe relevance.  Even if thatâs not the case at least it IS current :)
Get link happy -Â point to other sites. Google likes outbound links. If you point to other pages then you are less likely to be a spammer. Importantly, you may want to point to RELEVANT pages, so donât just have a big list of âall my favorite thingsâ instead keep to the same âcategoriesâ as your blog posts.Â
Donât get lost! Use a map - a site map that tells Google where all your pages are. Make sure all your pages inside your blog are linked to or from some other page - Google may sometimes give the impression that it is magic, but it really canât âdivineâ the location of your pages so you had better TELL it where they are.Â
A great post from @shallyÂ
Seems like an appropriate first post on my new blog! Some little birdies have been after me to blog again...
