Around 1 pm yesterday, Saturday, August 13, I took my first boat ride through my grandmother's subdivision. I don't say that to be funny. I say that because I never expected it would happen to me. You see things like that on the news but never in a million years expect it to happen to you. And, no, there were no warnings to get out. We had no idea. The water came on so suddenly. We thought we were high and dry in her subdivision as we always are, until about 8:30 am Saturday. Needless to say, we are safe now, but the water will continue to rise and her home may be destroyed and so may our cars. At least we have our lives and what's left of our sanity.
