The season of summer is upon us (although it doesn’t feel like it in England right now)...
Booking a week away is one of the best things in life for me. A chance to escape everyday life, the crazy life of commuting and working long hours. I begin thinking about basking in the sunshine, drinking mojitos and lounging in a bikini all day, and to be perfectly honest there isn’t anything better.
Before I go away, I try to drink juices each day to ensure that I my body is cleansed and ready for the all you can eat buffet (and the several litres of spirits).
I then begin to pack the essentials. I feel as though I have got packing absolutely spot on. I take less bikinis now than ever before, because the reality is, you rinse them and leave them to dry on the balcony. I also only take 2 pairs of heels for the evenings. Trust me, I used to pack one pair to go with each outfit, which is completely unnecessary (23kg only goes so far!).
The most vital item to take, is cheap £1 flip flops from Primark. I know this seems simple, but it took me several holidays to realise these are a lifesaver! When you are walking around the pool, who knew the floor could be so hot?! I often ruined my best sandals, but now, I’ve learned from my mistakes...
Finally, for any one who burns their face, invest in a hat. I bought one last year for the first time, and my delicate parts were definitely grateful.
