watched one of my old favorite monster films Tremors (1990) and now i'm thinking of an AU where Sawyer and Miles finally decide to move on from their quiet little desert town only to get their plans upended when strange deaths start popping up that just so happen to coincide with seismologist grad student Kate picking up some WEIRD data from her machines. and then they banter and fight giant sandworms and fall in love about it.

Idk if anyone here is a fan of the ancient b-movie series Tremors but I just realized something.

Burt Gummer and Jack Sparrow went through the same process of being a fan favorite side character with an extreme personality who was centered in sequels due to their popularity, becoming increasingly flanderized and suffering from the loss of their side-character position which had previously allowed them to be more themselves than the demands of plot allow.
