Ronnie Spector was a trailblazing artist who won't be forgotten 🌸🌺 and the spirit of her music has reverberated with so many audiences, especially during the 1960s as youth worldwide began forming identities & cultures of their own, facing backlash from parents, priests & politicians (and partners). Check out artists like Las Hermanas Benitez from Cuba ("Tú Serás Mi Baby") and Les Surfs from Madagascar ("Reviens Vite et Oublie" and "Je Te Pardonne") for some great covers of The Ronettes. There's also some interesting work out there that notes how artists like Ronnie were important role models specifically to the generation of teenage female singers that first entered the scene during the Nueva Ola movement, artists like Fresia Soto from Chile. So cool to think about these global/transatlantic connections, how through music they can cross time and space, how they can be so personal but also affect millions... 📷: first image is of Ronnie Spector; second image is an album cover of Las Hermanas Benitez; third image is an album cover of Les Surfs; final image is a photo of Fresia Soto on the cover of the magazine Ritmo De La Juventud #ronniespector #hermanasbenitez #lessurfs #fresiasoto https://www.instagram.com/p/CYqJGTHLxUV/?utm_medium=tumblr
