The Ten of Pentacles

In Greek mythology, Zeus, the king of the gods, fell in love with the young man, Ganymede, because of his extraordinary beauty. Zeus transformed himself into a massive eagle (or sent his sacred eagle) to kidnap the young Trojan prince from the slopes of Mount Ida. Zeus brought Ganymede to Mount Olympus, granting him immortality and eternal youth. Ganymede was given the prestigious role of cupbearer to the gods, replacing Hebe, the goddess of youth. He poured ambrosia and nectar at divine banquets. To make up for taking the boy, Zeus compensated Ganymede’s grieving father, King Tros of Troy, with a pair of divine, immortal horses and a golden grapevine crafted by Hephaestus.
