I’m legitimately upset and pissed off that the writers decided it was OK to have Cuddy break up with House because he took Vicodin to cope with her potential death.
“I don’t want you to change. You’re screwed up, you’re always gonna be screwed up, but you’re the most incredible man I’ve ever known, and you will always be the most incredible man I’ve ever known.”
Does that sound like a woman who would dump her boyfriend for relapsing one time because he’s afraid she might die? Does it?
I get that they had other issues, but they had addressed and were working through every single one of them. We saw him getting better at actually listening to her and realizing he needed to do more to show her he cared about her. We saw him bonding with Rachel. We saw him promise not to lie to her again and actually basically keep that promise (there were still some veiled deceptions but that’s on both sides). We saw them coming to honest resolutions about work related issues and him actually taking her advice about Wilson.
And the writers decided they were going to bring their progress to a grinding halt. Which I was always going to hate, but if they really needed the drama that badly there’s also a million ways they could have done it. Have him lie to her. Have him go behind her back. Have him sabotage the relationship with his own insecurities. Hell, even cheating would have made more sense. And I hate that garbage overused trope.
Also breaks my heart that they could have been endgame because if it wasn’t for their shitty writing Lisa Edelstein might have come back.
